QJB is back with a new video, this one looking at the new line play within Madden NFL 25 on next-gen consoles. If you can't see the video above, check it out on YouTube.
I can't say I'm impressed by this. I'm glad double team pass blocking is in, but most of this is similar to what's in current gen. For example, DT splitting the double team is in current gen (albeit during running plays).
We have? We haven't even seen Game-play of Madden 25 NG... But let's take a deeper look... Shall we??
Ok so throwing animations haven't been improved on next gen yet, proves nothing. The O/D line play alone is more improvement in core gameplay than we saw from 06-12.
What Rex and Cam are doing and will be bringing in the future, is unlike anything that's ever been seen in Madden. What Ian and others did is not even close to comparable.
Really impressed with the improvements they have made for NG Madden. Can't wait until the 15th! It all looks better than current gen graphics and gameplay wise
looks better then current gen but that's not saying much, all the players need true step ASAP because the lineman are floating/ skating around then suctioning to their assignments. It looks too similar to current gen. i know the offensive line men they brought in to help with line pay worked hard and i respect the effort but you have to do better then this
So far, the only next-gen EA Sports game that looks to be SOMEWHAT good is FIFA -- the trailers for NBA Live and Madden are definitely having an adverse effect on people's hype meter for these games. The only good part of this trailer was the "War in the Trenches" ... everything else -- including graphics -- looks WAY to similar to current gen. Yikes.
I'm completely baffled as to how such a mega-company can be so ignorant to the poor quality of the product they are producing. Maybe it's because they know that people will buy it, regardless of its how good or bad it is, because HEY, IT'S MADDEN. Sad to see this is what the sports video game industry has become in EA Sports' eyes.
This is usually where someone would insert an absurd comment like "I could care less about people that play the cpu"
But seeing I actually care about all areas of the game and want them to work...You will not ever hear that from me.
I think EA tries to give the user so much control that this often effects the way animations play out and the quality of the overall animations. When animations are perdominantly contextual they also eem to be more realistic and pleasing to the eye.
Sometimes other games rely too heavily on contextual animations limiting user control but the trade off is the animation itself will often look perfect. The other side of that is if you like having manual control over doing contextual animations can make you a slave to the animation.
EA needs to find the right balance but at the moment most people who enjoy Madden prefer to have that complete user control while many people who have problems with the game would rather have the CPU be in control while they marvel at the perfection of the animation. Nothing wrong wih either but if I was to choose a side I would prefer to have user an abundance over cpu controlled contextual animations.
I don't really see what your point is... my comment was referring to a cpu controlled QB so there should be NO user control into that.
If you're refering to a user controlling the QB, then I agree... the user should be in charge of the majority, if not all control. That's why I said I think pass rush will work better when there is a human playing QB because then the QB (human controlled) won't always automatically step when pressure is coming.
This is what led me to say that I hope awareness impacts cpu qb play because otherwise all cpu controlled QB's would sense pressure like Peyton Manning.
Rex Dickson told everyone what was and wasn't going to be in the game. He mentioned at least 5 times in his interview with Sim Perspective, that animation quality is not where it needs to be yet, as well as physics and that they are working to improve them.
The things that they did work on this year, they are just laying the foundation for them, they laid the foundation for the o/d line, true step, player sense AI, living worlds, now they will keep improving them each year.
I know how people like to complain about how bad the game is, but if that is the case, don't you think it will take more than one cycle for them to fix everything?
We've seen more improvement from Madden 13 to Madden 25 next gen, in core gameplay than we did from Madden 06-12.
I understand there's a lack of trust, but let's at least give them more than one cycle to fix EVERYTHING.
9 years wasn't enough time I guess, give me a break, this kind of pandering is tiresome.
Reading posts from guys who are consumers having to apologize and spin for the dev team is cringe worthy. Let them do it themselves.
The line play definitely is a step up. With that said it SEEMS scripted. I can't say for sure without seeing extensive footage, but it still seems scripted. If you get that speed rush animation, you know the guy is going to hit the ground. If you get a different animation you know you have a shot. I'd like to see some of the same animations with different outcomes.
We all know the QB animations are just horrendous so no need to go into that anymore.
I really like how the helmets move now with contact. Pretty cool detail. I wish the head tracking was better and players looked around more. I really liked how RGIII looked in the E3 trailer. Sad to see that wasn't real. I thought player sense would add to this but, it seems like it was scaled back.
Honestly I think this whole game was scaled back from what they wanted originally.
Where do you guys find these gifs?...Sometimes they are more entertaining than the topic of he thread.
I don't know how to put in these gifs either... but if someone can find the gif of the black dude who opens his fridge in excitement and makes a fantastic disappointed face 'cause the fridge is empty. I'd be forever thankful! :P

I love how the players helmets move around like that. Is this game going to be perfect, no. I am really happy with the improvements I see though. I don't care as much about graphics as I do game play. The OL/DL interactions look much better. That and footplanting are the two biggest foundational things that need to be right. If you don't like it, don't buy it. I will be playing Madden 25 on my Xbox1 on Nov 22nd though. Can't wait

9 years? Where did you get 9 years from? It's been two, and for Rex it's only been 1. With that being said Rex STILL took accountability for where the game is at right now even though he had nothing to do with it. If you're going to blame Rex for the last 9 years then I guess you have to give Mike Singletary credit for the 49ers making the Super Bowl last year too.
Jp. Glad you're convinced. 2 years in development and the game looks like crap. Not to mention Monster Tom Brady and Monster Joe Flacco...
So authentic and true to the game.
What are you talking about??? The only reason it looks that way is because he has white sleeves and a white jersey his arms just look big. Look at his right arm... it's normal size! It's just the angle that makes it look like he is on steroids.
Nothing sim about pre scripted line animations, why does every double team block look the same, the guy getting blocked also does the same thing smh head moves back then body leans to the side. seen the same exact animation in every blocking vid released this is bad
Cheer up Madden Fans, I only really was interested in FIFA, and they've shown us a grand total of one 1:30 trailer and a few interviews. But hey, our crowds look good!
