I'll give the demo a whirl, but honestly from the video it looks like a carbon copy of last year's game. EA was complacent enough before, but with the next gen on the horizon so soon, it would shock me to see any serious effort put into the current gen version. And when the next gen version sucks, they'll make excuses for that too, all the while cashing in on the millions of people buying 2 versions of the same crap game.

Does Kaepernick really not have any tats or am I completely blind now?

Care to share your sliders, Road?

There will always be a market for EA because there is that segment of the consumer population that does not truly care about football. They want dreadlocks, sock striping,CPU versus CPU spectator mode, and progressively dirty uniforms. That ( pre- teen, I assume) segment who wants to download their face and see what it looks like in the uniform of their favorite team and other superfluous fascinations.

That's all well and good, but it's not football. This is the demographic that EA panders to year after year. It's their bread and butter, and seemingly the only areas if the programming they are adept at evolving and improving.

I am always amazed at some of the hardcore EA fanboys on here that are in perpetual denial and defending this lackluster product at every turn. My recent favorite was a comment stating " just use your imagination" in reference to some of the ridiculous and looooong standing CPU AI flubs. ROLFLMAO. Why pop the game in at all, just close your eyes and imagine everything.....

The fact is, Madden has never been and will never be the football game that we football purists want to see. Madden was light years behind 2k and was never going to catch up. They clearly understood this, so they bought out all the competition instead if upping their own game. They've been coasting ever since.

I am officially fed up.....how much longer until everyone else is too?

Tick tock EA.

see you in November

I disagree that more and more people are giving up, I think more and more people are starting to have hope and can see the direction this game is headed. Now like I said, in November, on next gen, then people REALLY will start to see the direction and have more than just hope, they will have evidence.

I have had hope for years on end. How'd that work out for us?

I'm afraid you'll be crushed come November. More of the same tired, fruitless pattern to come.

JP, can you elaborate as to why you are so positive we are all going to be begging to come back on the Madden train in November, when at the same time others on this site have said stay away from next Gen, stick with current gen? Is it just your gut feeling? I know I can never truly judge except for myself, because everyone is different, but I wonder what has you so positive that this will finally be "the Madden we've all been waiting for".
All this being said, Im trying so hard to get excited for August 27.

I agree. this is the best first impression ive gotten from madden in years. and the only problem I have with sliders is they are getting rid of some. I think the more the better. this dream of the perfect sim coming out and not needing sliders is just that, a dream. opinions will always vary, and rightfully so.

I will agree that there is some sort of programming glitch in the game that is not allowing penalties to trigger. However, knowing that penalties are a huge part of the game EVERY SUNDAY and MONDAY NIGHT, I would think that a developer that is trying to develop a realistic game would put a little effort into this part of the game at some point over the last eight years.

What I think is hilarious as well contradictory and downright lame are when people(not you specifically) will defend the game when they do something correct, and use the no game is perfect and/or it's just a video game when something needs to be addressed.

I don't disagree with your post. In regards to the penalty system, I truly believe it is a deep rooted hard coded flaw in this gens engine. I really believe at this point and probably 2 years in to this gens dev cycle....it was unfixable. Otherwise I truly believe Tiburon would have made effort to fix it. The game has had a rough go of it this gen.....but 10, 12 and now M25 managed to keep me interested in Madden for multiple seasons. Where as last gen it was an every year purchase automatic.

I will go next Gen in 2015....unless The Show and NBA 2K blows my mind next year and forces my hand.

Notice how I do not expect Madden to do that. And Madden was the reason I went PS2 at launch...and suffered through some sub par games when you look back at it.

It takes IMO 2-3 years before the Devs get fully immersed and comfortable with the new CPU power. I did not get my PS3 till late 2009. Great decision for The Show and 2K and my first Madden this gen was 10...so every other year has been a letdown big time (11,13...blech).

M25 is IMO going to be the best this gen as long as the Connected Franchise functions properly. Plus Madden Share....huge.

I am not as nit picky about my football.....like I am about my Baseball and Basketball.

I am a life long Madden Player.......so of course I am not picky. Madden has never been a complex sim football game. It has been fun fun fun with enough simulation elements to keep it deep (franchise mode, all the on the fly adjustments on the field). Franchise mode was the glue for me with Madden.....it was lost this gen till M12.

And I think that is why M12 gets so much love. The franchise mode was the deepest thus far this gen.

I think M25 will be better....with owner mode to boot.....it is shaping up to be really special IMO and keep me playing this game till Next Gen....whenever that is for me.

Bravo on a good effort (based on the demo thus far...a full retail review will come) this go around Tiburon. I am one happy camper right now.

I'm trying to keep focused on demo impressions for this thread, but look at this demo and then look how they are taking what we have here and adding key things like improved running animations with true step, which will allow an animation for every step instead of every 3 steps like we have now(reason we have had ice skating all of current gen), better ai and contextual awareness, better o/d line interactions, 10x graphical fidelity, living sidelines etc... We aren't getting a bare bones next gen M25, it will have owner mode, CFM, plus all the gameplay improvements I mentioned.

Not sure what people were expecting it to be.
When you've played the game for a decade plus, logging 1000's of games. It's not hard to see the fine print right away.

You know exactly what to look for.

Yes both offline and online.

I don't understand how people are not impressed with the demo or excited about some of the returning features. It seems to me that you just look for the bad in new madden's and ignore the positives.

I was planning to buy Madden 25 all summer and the demo has really impressed me. I wouldn't have been surprised if this years Madden was nothing more than a roster updated Madden 13, but it is not. The gameplay feels more fluid than ever and I was really happy with the 2 games I played. They even played out the way I wanted (one low scoring Ravens 49ers game, one high scoring Packers Seahawks game).

All in all, very impressed with the demo and excited for the full release.

Sweet! I know some people don't care but to me that's a big option. Is it a good mode? Because I heard that M12 had a lousy fantasy draft option or something like that.

I know sometimes I may come across that way, but I try not to be. There are still many things in the demo that I am not happy about(mainly penalties, pass blocking & pass rush, ball still tethered to wrs, ai, commentary, and lack of halftime or post game presentation), but I do see the improvements and the direction they are going. As long as they keep improving the o/d line, address the wr/db interactions, ai, penalties, and keep adding depth to game modes, while improving the presentation each year instead of going backwards from here, I think most people will be very happy.

I think this is the first year on current gen, correct me if I'm wrong, where the game improved without removing anything from the previous year.

Ok, so I played few more games. I have been playing on very slow and I have my sliders to:
Both for human and CPU

Qb accuracy. 15
Pass block. 0
Wr catch. 50

Run blocking. 0
Fumbles. 25

Reaction time 0
Int. 25
Pass coverage. 0

Tackling. 50

These play really well and I'm thoroughly enjoying this demo
