By the way, first time I see Nash fixing his hair (7:12). Did previous 2K's have it?

^^^ yes, with the finger licking animation as well.

Also, while some 2K camera players complain that it's harder to run their offenses when I force them to play on Broadcast, no one's been able to dispute that it's much easier to play defense from the Broadcast view.

The bounce pass on the break by Nash at around the 5:50 mark...WOW!!

I liked the different ways they walked the ball up the court and players were pointing out where other teammates should go etc...

Crowd still the same, hope they work on this!

I didn't like how the Lakers never tried to post up Howard deep in the post against Miami, who has no size for him. I only saw him grab one rebound too which was a shame. Nash grabbed most of the rebounds oddly enough. Overall, the dominant big men appear to be no factor again (on offense) in the game if the AI is using them which sucks. I saw many times where I as a player would have passed it to Howard as he cut to the paint for an easy dunk.

Was it just me, or did the ball look funny when it went in the basket? Like the net looked different...last year it looked great with the variety of ways the ball went in the rim, just looked funny to me on this video.

I liked how it appeared you can't cheese the crossovers with the right stick to get around anyone. The AI had very good on-ball defense, and help defense which was nice to see.

I like the new stat overlays for Lebron that basically showed how much he dominated last season lol

Oh, and one last thing...it's obvious the tendencies will be all screwed up as always, which is the main reason why Howard was a non-factor I'm sure. Sucks we have to do all the work to get these right for thee game to play better. I wish someone at 2k would really figure out how to use ratings and tendency stuff correctly!

I'm really impressed by this physics system. The way the game can recognize a weak player and a strong player is incredible, seeing the little things like Haslem losing his balance after jumping into the air, because kobe fell into him at 8:57 amazing, especially coming out of 2k12. Just seeing the little things like Gasol being knocked back when lebron goes up for the layup at 6:59. Things like that makes me hyped, someone said they think the engine has run it's course, I think that's far from the truth, with the new physics and new control stick, I think this has opened up new areas of gameplay that couldn't be done before. I kinda doubt 2k13, as it's just going to be 2k12 fixed, but it looks like a whole new monster. I just have to see how far the AI has come along. But I couldn't be more excited than I'm now.

Edit: Again the lack of warping FROM the cpu is really impressive, it looks like psychic defense is gone, but who knows. It's really hard playing 2k12 right now.

2k12 Physics system was one of major problems for me with the game.
2k12 had a lot of potential (post game was IMHO terrific a big jump from 2k11 in that area of the game. My biggest problem with it were:
  • Passing
  • Lack of CPU DT
  • Lack of quality collision system between players
Now with 2k13 we can cleary see that:
  • Contact/physics seems a lot better than last year
  • Passing seems faster
  • DT is fixed
  • Spacing is improved too

as many I can't wait for october to come ^__^

I guess regardless how the game plays once it is finally out doesn't matter. It's either 2k13 or live. I don't know if you've seen the live13 video, but uh........

Passing is worse than in the gamescon videos, looks exactly like 2K12, still too much floating passing, unrealistic passing motion, you don't see any wrist-snapping.

Set offense was absolutely horrible by LA. Too much wasted and unnecessary movement, players running up to a team-mate and giving them the ball too many times instead of just passing it to them, can't see any drop-off passes.

Crowd still constantly acting bananas instead of acting like a real crowd.

Nash never seemed to actually go around a pick and attack the defence or run a pick and roll.

They still don't have continuation, Lebron drew a blocking foul and the play should have been dead there, he can't just take a few extra steps and attempt a layup and shoot free throws.

At about 6 minutes, Lebron could never spin that fast, he doesn't have the agility, maybe a prime Wade, but definitely not Lebron. Funny how people go crazy about the Lebron spin and then reminisce and compare it to doing the same spin with AI many times. Shouldn't that tell you that Lebron shouldn't be able to do it?

Battier doesn't shoot like that, 2K when are you going to get it right?

Nitpicking the hell out the footage lol..if you don't like it that much you might as well pass on this years game.

Game looks ALOT better than 2k12 so I can't knock it too much.

Its a video game..everything is not going to look 100% realistic..especially when non-nba players are controlling them. I expect a few unrealistic moments in videogames...overall the game looks great and I think it will be the best b ball game ever as far as the balance of realistic and fun. The controls alone will make this game a blast if it is good as it looks.

You bring up an interesting point here. To me most 2k dunks feel automatic once the user has pressed a button. All the rest is left up to the animation. Imagine if users had to time where they jumped from. For example, if they tried to dunk from the free-throw line, they would be more likely to miss. The way it is now, users can just hold down turbo and press a button to get any kind of dunk.

Yea that kind of differentiation will def hinder the way some can cheese out the turbo button all day long..

Very good point and i hope what you've brought up is the reason why Kobe missed that one.

I hope so to, but I doubt it. In 2k12, I remember missing dunks just like the kobe one. The only difference was the strange way the ball would bounce high off the back rim. Also, in 2k12, I noticed alot of breakaway dunks that would miss if defenders where a step behind. Some of the dunk animations from 2k12 had this hitch that would allow defenders to catch up. Surprising to me, I had more success with reverse dunks(less of an animation hitch) when someone was chasing me down from behind.

I have been waiting for that to be in a game for quite some time.....maybe next gen

Going off the looks of this, it pretty much still LOOKS like 12 aside from some contact physics but even then, it's hard to discern. I just want this game in my hands with the controls cuz that will make me a happy man but some of the passing especially the players' proximity being ridiculously close yet no reaction from the D when those passes are being attempted made me cringe a bit.

I want to see more hand swipes involved by the D when checking players or a player gets past his defender and another player defending someone else sees this such then swipes at the ball, especially in those close proximity passing moments.

Fadeaways and stepbacks still look meh.

Everything else looked solid. Just want to get my hands on it to see how responsive it really is.

So far from what im seeing, is that this game 2k13 plays almost exactly like the UNPATCH version of 2k12. I swear man some of the moves that im seeing in this video are already in 2k12, but are in the DAY 1 no patch version of 2k12. The smoothness and the players feel like they have weight onthem just like 2k12 without the patch.

Also let me say that im not impressed. Yes im happy its another nba 2k game and im sure once i play it i will notice the differences, but this game is 2k12 all over again. You people were givin a patch that made2k12 play stiff, and certain animations were taken out to adjust to the newstiff patch version.

Since most of you play with the PATCHED version of this game you wouldn’t understand

i will be getting the game, but probly later during christmas. So ill stay focused on 2k12 till then

Ok...

I think it looks good! It definetly looks smoother and I'm also loving the physics bumping.
After some tendency and ratings tweaks by our amazing gurus here on this forum it looks like the game is gonna play great!

User was able to "force field" his way into the paint more than I would like with spins, although there were also some encouraging moments where the user was met with apporpriate resistance like at 1:50. I felt like there was appropriate contact with Wade driving into the paint and then forcing up a tough shot that went in.

Overall, feels like game speed is a tad too fast as somebody had mentioned, maybe a few clicks down from default should be fine.

When the ball was tipped around 4:40 and led to the Miami break, I feel like in real life LeBron would have had the speed to get past, or at least get into the hip of Gasol. He seemed a bit slower than I would have liked there.
the cam pans in & out in 2k12..
