Might explain some of the apparent lighting issues.
It definitely is grey and not white

If a player gets tripped up and is trying to keep their balance, how do you do this on the Left stick, or is it just CPU/engine driven.

Nothing you can do, it's all up to their ratings.

Donwloaded it for PS3 last night and played a few games.

-The lighting is too dark in the Seattle at Washington game when facing the sun. I understand the reason why, it just needs to be toned down.

-The O-line/D-line interaction is still too black and white, not enough nuance. Meaning, the D-line doesn't have to "win" for the QB to feel pressure, nor does the O-line have to "win" for them to form a successful pocket.

-The zig zag running makes the game too herky jerky. Example: I threw a deep out to my receiver. He catches the ball, going full speed, a couple yards from the sideline. I was able to turn it upfield and pick up another 10 yds before the safety tackled me. My momentum and the receiver concentrating on reeling the ball in should have carried me out of bounds.

Besides those issues, the game was awesome!

Passing is a thing of beauty!

I like the RTP.It's a needed step in the correct direction. You get new animations/ reactions depending on the situation. You get some funky outcomes( Nowhere near as many as some have claimed that it breaks the games funfactor), but those can probably be tuned and seeing that this is year 1 with RTP, progress is definitely expected.

I have to say I am really enjoying this game and it really just comes down to this...it "feels" good. While all of the changes may have pros and cons to them and I could detail each of those out, on the whole each change improves the overall "feel".

A perfect example is the immersion factor which is much improved. While the replays feel unfinished and the default camera leaves me a little frustrated they are far outweighed by the leap in commentary, stat overlays, crowd noise and little touches. Overall I feel far more immersed...it feels right. Please do fix that default camera though as I have heard only negative reactions to it.

Another example is the new engine. I am frustrated to no end by the lack of momentum. I almost fear this is a conscious choice though. It reminds me of this giant debate in killzone where the aiming had this wonderful heavy, weighty feel and it was difficult to pull off shots. The community outcry was deafening and they patched it so it was really fast to move and...well, like every other shooter. I am guessing it is similar with Madden. I would love it to be HARD to run, HARD to shift left and right...and really "realistic". I bet the majority of players would cry foul if direction shifts were heavily momentum based and we would hear "everyone runs like they are stuck in mud". You probably can't please everyone but I sure wish there was a slider that would allow me to increase the momentum factor. It really shouldnt be difficult to add...literally decrease speed on directional changes and make it a slider value. The more you increase the momentum slider the less speed you would have for a few moments.

Again, while I sound like I am complaining I actually think the engine "feels" better, more organic and leads to more "wow" moments. I don't get too hung up on little odd glitches, it is a game. At the end of the day I feel better playing this engine than the previous versions.

It is the entire package that just feels more organic, more alive and more immersive. It has been a while since I felt that in a Madden game so the experience far outweighs the annoyances. While I won't declare it the greatest thing since sliced bread I will be purchasing based on the demo. Any improvements in the final product (camera please) and subsequent patches will only validate that decision.
This.

When running I feel no difference between backs, or receivers. They all feel very weightless and vulnerable to the slightest contact. When I run with B.Jacobs, I want to "feel" like I'm running with a 264 pound back. Instead I feel as if I'm running with every other back.

i had a weird glitch in the seahawks vs redskins game. i was playing as russell wilson and i threw a good 40 yard pass and i got tackled but he got right back up and took it to the house. anybody else had that glitch?

I dont know if this has been reported but I called for a fair catch on a punt, the incoming defender stopped like always. However, banks started running with it, and I took control of him and they spotted it where I finally got tackled.

The running game is certainly improved. Better blocking as a whole. The only major issue I saw on the physics engine is that the runner will some down just go down from a hard collision like running into their own line man -I only saw this once or twice in two game and it is no means as bad as it was in back breaker, but it is there.

When you got tackled, did the refs whistle you down?
In this game there are instances where you're getting tackled but you land on top of another player enabling you to continue to advance the ball downfield.

Seeing the same thing.. played against the Redskins and couldn't even see the names on the jerseys it was so dark.

Yeah the Skins jerseys do like dark lol.

The shadows are very dark in the presnap camera. The defense is just all shadows. It also looks bad when you're about to catch a punt.

I am on the 360 version but noticed the same thing. I thought it was just my TV! I couldn't even make out who the defender / receiver was while playing last night.

Is DPP gone? Gameplay feels too much like they just took NCAA 13 and tacked on a little physics. Sometimes on All-Madden QB's will run, throw in stride, and the ball comes out like it's fired from a canon. Had RG3 throw a near TD strike 60 yards out from the right hash to the left corner of the endzone. Nearly a line drive throw, seen throws like it a few times right before QB gets hit.

Also, why are fumbles down on first touch? Can't scoup and score.

madden has been like this for years, the shadows are way to dramatic, the game looks great going one way and dark and ridiculous the other, shadows rarely appear like this is a normal real life game

The lighting is horrendous in the Seahawks/Redskins game. Any time the sun is in front of you its extremely difficult to tell the difference between the two teams.

A bright sun shining down on a field makes for a clearer image, not a color blur.

And the irony of the whole thing is that the feature many of us begged for the most is what is going to sink this game fast. The Physics Engine is just so unpolished its a distraction when playing the game. I cannot take the game seriously because there simply is no sense of realistic contact between players.

For one, they feel hollow and have no sense of physical bodies colliding.

They momentum is all just completely off at times. Players will be running full speed outside on sweeps and come to a full stop when a defender cuts them off at an agle and then it goes into this mini standstill physics struggle game that just looks completely off.

Players bounce weirdly off each other into different directions at times

I seen a few plays where the RB gets tripped up going over a low tackler but doesnt go down (good ea) but then freezes in that stumble animation and just glides about 3 yards past and over the tackler while in that frozen stumble stance as if he was one of those electric football magnets from back in the day! (bad EA!)

The whole lack of immersion on almost every single contact truley makes this feel like a completely unfinished product that needs several years...YEARS, not weeks of tweaking to address.

There are some tackles that look good but I honestly think the ratio is like 4 bad, weird or just off for every 1 that looks right.

And it doesnt just end there with the contact. RBs juke left and right awkwardly and unrealistically as if they have metal rods underneath them and someone is yanking them left or right during the juke with absolutely no sense of weight shifting or momentum change.

In my opinion, EA really went backwards...REALLY backwards with this years version. It lacks smooth fluid realistic and natural gameplay. I actually forced myself to finish 3 demo games just to convince myself that what I was seeing wasnt a mistake.......I actually rather go back and play Madden 10. Its much more grounded and feels better then this. Actually 09 does!

Its truely disappointing for me because I had such high stock that the new physics engine would shoot some much needed gameplay and dynamics into this game.....It Just doesnt! Its actually a big distraction for me.
Wow brother what you stated here is exaclty what I was feeling while playing the demo. My daughter was watching me play and we both stated how the players at certain points looked like zombies in a football uniform.

I right along with you on your closing comment. The IE engine for me is also more of a big distraction than a pleasant surprise.

I will play some more tonight to see if my view changes on the demo, but I could not finish a game last night. I'll see if I can finish one tonight.

I just had an extremely glitchy play.

De Angelo Hall picked me off in the end zone, on a poorly thrown ball by Flynn (ok cool). Nantz says "He's brought down by Brian Orakpo." Game cuts to a sideline shot of Redskins DB Cedric Griffin warming up for a field goal. ?

Yea I noticed that also, fair catch is buggy in the demo.

This I've noticed above all. The juke button is useless when using someone like LaMichael James. I get better elusive actions when I mess around with the left stick instead.
