Madden NFL 13 News Post

It all seemed too good to be true.

Now after this week's bombshells that you cannot edit players in connected careers or play any other games in the mode other than your own, it seems like the Madden team is once again forcing you to play your game their way. To me, this is a huge problem. Others of you? Maybe not so much. But let's hear it: Has the 'closed' nature of Connected Careers turned you away and/or cooled your enthusiasm about Madden NFL 13?

Sound off!

what about editing equipment needs testing and debugging?

online CC allows the ability to play with 32 other users, so why cant offline CC play with 32 other users? it is supposed to be 1:1 mirror right?

i believe that custom playbooks is more of a user vs user issue then an EA issue and i personally dont think removing it solve anything. imo cheesers are like computer hackers, they gonna find a way to do what they do regardless, its in their blood. CC is a career mode, so in online the commish could have options to turn the feature off or on and offline who cares, but for multi-user offline CC even they could have the option. if its a quick audible situation ppl are worried about all EA had to do what set preset quick audible for every formation. and in randoms it could be not allowed and everything could be stock.

i guess im still trying to wrap my head around what needs so much testing and debunking about these features.

Part of me thinks this is a money ploy. Instead of two friends playing a franchise together on one game, they want to force you to go out, spend another $60 and play each other online in CC.

Could you not setup two profiles with online passes and join the same franchise?

Of course there's a $10 online pass cost for the 2nd profile and you can't play each other, but it's sort of a work around no?

or save yourself $80 and continue to play Madden 12 until madden 14 comes out.

This assumes that these things will be added back in. I'm a little skeptical.

everything you put into a game requires testing and debugging. there are multiple databases and features that access the player data, anything that changes the data can have an effect on any of them so they have to go through and see how changing that data changes the other databases and features. that is a long process and you have to repeat it many times to see if there are major errors poping up.

online does not allow one console to have more than 1 user at a time. having to re log each time you want to change which team you are controlling would be a hassle. they can fix it and allow more than 1 user in the future for both online and offline.

you are right it is a user issue for custom playbooks. but ea can at least fix some of the problems with it, like the audible money play issue. i believe they have other issues like the entire playbook disappearing while online, that would have a major effect on online users. they want those worked out before bringing them back.

i guess im still trying to wrap my head around what needs so much testing and debunking about these features.

my comments are in bold

Madden 13 went from a must buy and a Madden I was looking forward to more-so than any in recent memory - to waiting for next year or a patch.

There is no reason to deny editing. It is our game, let us do what we want with it.

This is what hurts so bad! I was soo pumped when I heard about all of the additions, then when I heard about all the missing features it was like someone kicked me off a two story high ladder.

Yeah I was feeling the same way and bragging about it to all of my friends until that bomb got dropped on me with all the original features not making it to the game..

Yeah. It's crazy that you can't even player against your own brother in a franchise under the same roof. Went from "The Madden" to just Sad-again13. Total disregard for friends and family EA. What really makes this game that much different from 2k5? Updated graphics, a physics engine that you hope works well, and a couple twitter feeds = $60.00.

Yes it has and I do not like what I am seeing. I am a Franchise gamer when it comes to my sports titles meaning thats where virtually all of my time and money goes into while playing. Not being able to take the rosters I (or someone else) edited into the mode that I bought the game for in the first place is a major deal breaker for me. I hope Madden fixes this or otherwise I am not purchasing a Madden title ever again.

I feel the same way way, but change is a part of life. IF it is a better game. YOU (and I) WILL buy and play it.

Seriously? Where are all these emotional responses coming from? Most people thought last years franchise mode was trash and now people are this upset because it changed, And no one has even played or even seen it in operation.

# 575 BigDuke @ 06/20/12 09:20 AM
I will NOT be purchasing Madden 13. Removing the player editing features, NCAA draft classes, and forcing us to use one team in franchise has turned me off.

EA has demonstrated zero ability to produce realistic player ratings progression. CPU team management as it pertains to realistically managing the team roster via free agency and the draft and managing its coaching staff sucks. They can't even accurately match player traits, body types and equipment to a player's position. Not to mention the giant shoulder pad bugs. How many years has it been that these same problems continue to exist?

And now every method we users had of attempting to correct EA's flawed game has been taken away from us. EA's motto this year seems to be: Madden 13...love it or leave it. I'll leave it.

I'm not upset that franchise mode changed...I never said that "I'm pissed off that offline franchise mode has changed". I am upset because control was taken away from the user to create a personalized roster and take that roster into offline connected careers. I can not explain it any clearer than that. I have stated many benefits of the other changes including gameplay with the exception that I am still seeing repetition in animations in the videos that have been released.

Whatever emotional attachment I have with the game should only benefit as I only want to see the game be the best representation of NFL football and with editing capabilities the user can better get his own level of enjoyment out of the game they purchased.

Peace madden brethren. :

I know they said they you can't control all 32 teams in the offline version of CC, but what about the online version of CC. Can you control all 32 teams or is 32-team control just gone entirely from the game?

You can have a 32 user controlled franchise, but it's per XBL gold account. So you by yourself can't control more than one team.

This got me thinking, but could you quit the online franchise and join in as another team and control that team and so forth till you are ready to play a game then you play the ones you want. This may take more time then people want, but could it be done. Granted you may need 2 accounts to do it, but I wonder if this would work, and you wouldn't be able to have created coaches though either.

Not sure, but I'm assuming that the CPU would mess with the rosters or whatever once you sim from week to week.
