Madden NFL 13 News Post

Because I have been asked about this via Twitter and email so often, I wanted to make sure people were aware.

Justin Dewiel, Community Manager for EA Sports, just confirmed via Twitter (just follow the timeline), if you coach a team, you can no longer play other games on the schedule, only the game(s) on your own schedule.

For example. Rgiles asked if he could coach the Cowboys in CCM, but play the Patriots vs. Browns game.

Justin stated that it is not possible, because CCM is based around you and your character (coach or player).

Thanks a lot. I spent most of my time on Madden 12 playing a couch co-op Franchise with my cousin. Hopefully we can still do this in Madden 13 CCM.

Looks like it may be possible to play other teams games in CCM. According to Shopmaster's Blog, you are asked to advance the week after you play a game. Assuming that the other games are simulated after you advance the week, you could technically switch coaches and play other teams games.

FYI, this doesnt work if you are playing as a created coach because once you switch teams you will have to retire your coach. It only works using real life coaches.

If I can switch coaches as much as my heart desires within a given week, and this game gets good reviews, I will definitely pick it up.

Is this true?

Now hopefully they can find a way to get it implemented for the offline crowd because I can see where it can be important to some people.

I know what it is like to have a "small" problem that makes a game unplayable. Heck 2K5 is unplayable with the tap to sprint and most would consider that a "small" reason not to play but to me that was huge. But the combining of the game modes while great for the future does seem to be causing changes early that people don't like. It sucks and hopefully they do find a way to get it added so it works both online and off.
ON/OFF switch and sliders...easy....

@taz no the coach loses all his xp. not the players. coach xp is used to make contract talks easier or free agency easier or to improve player xp gains. so switching coaches causes you to not have access to those abilities unless the coach already has them.

Thats definetly a problem for people who plan to use XP and have players progress weekly. I think its minimized if you have them progress yearly. For people who dont care about XP like me, it wont matter much.

Yep. Shopmaster just confirmed it. The game doesnt simulate the other teams games until you press "advance to next week". So after you play your game, you can switch coaches and play other teams games.

This also gives you a roundabout and more limited version of 32 team control.

This is certainly good news for those of us that enjoy 32 team control. Where can Shopmasters blog be found?

This will be huge for those of us who want to hope around the schedule for playing games and seeing playoff games.

Only concern now is with that walk around...still cause we don't have full control...how close can we keep teams to real life moves as we can....for those that like that.

Yeah that's true and, for the most part, I think everyone agrees (whether or not they care is a different story...lol).

The point is that 13 is designed differently and we've all gone 12 rounds on the topic already, so now people are looking for any way to workaround some of these limitations. If they work back in a way to do this without the hoop jumping, that's great. If not though, this is good news as it potentially gets around one (and maybe two-if roster moves stick for a bit after jumping around) of the bigger gripes some of us have.

Not perfect, to be sure, but certainly something positive.

No one is refuting that.

A workaround was discovered and shared, no sense in continuing to gripe about something that isn't going to change no matter how frustrating it is.

Enough people have and I guarantee you EA knows how we feel. No need to continue griping page after page about it though.

It'd be great but I don't think it's something that can be patched into the game.

You have the right to do whatever you want (of course outside of these boards or within the rules here), but there are many features that were more important than this, such as the salary cap for Online Franchise last year, that were left out. Many people were outraged, but that did not get the feature into the game. Unless it is a very minor feature, there is hardly any chance of this making it into the game at this stage.

Before you ask: The reason why I do not label this as "minor" is because, as Justin Dewiel stated, Connected Careers is based around you and your character. I don't see Connected Careers being redesigned or designed to suit this at this stage in development, especially considering that Josh Looman wants everything to be perfect.

Why make us jump through hoops of changing coaches just to play other games? As I stated, I controlled the Ravens but if I wanted to play other games, I didn't need to switch teams in the middle of the Franchise to do it.

If I am controlling John Harbaugh and let's say I want to play as the Giants I don't want to switch over to Tom Coughlin just to play as the Giants against the Eagles. I want to be able to play as the Giants while still in control of John Harbaugh.

Plus as some stated before, Madden is a virtual NFL, and some like the 32 team control because they can play out the entire season their way and keep track of their own storylines, and play out the season their way.
Right, I don't disagree with anything you just said and I don't think anyone does.

My point is its been discussed now for weeks and you're far from the person to make that same post.

There is really no reason to continue rehashing the same thing over and over again. Trust me EA knows we aren't happy about it.
