Madden NFL 13 News Post

Because I have been asked about this via Twitter and email so often, I wanted to make sure people were aware.

Justin Dewiel, Community Manager for EA Sports, just confirmed via Twitter (just follow the timeline), if you coach a team, you can no longer play other games on the schedule, only the game(s) on your own schedule.

For example. Rgiles asked if he could coach the Cowboys in CCM, but play the Patriots vs. Browns game.

Justin stated that it is not possible, because CCM is based around you and your character (coach or player).

I like to play offline franchise with my lil bro and we have two created players on the steelers, we don't play as any other team, we just use our guys and play our schedule. I need further clarification that this is no longer possible as im still in disbelief of this subtraction.
If this is definitely not possible, what's the closing thing to it? lil help?

Sadly from what I gather you can no longer do that. Offline CCM won't allow you to do that, and online, you both can't be on the steelers I don't think.

Like I said I thought the idea was BS, but I have been keeping an eye on it. In addition to random posters, I have seen guys like Emdotfrisk, Shopmaster and ShaunLMason posting their idea on there. Again, though I was skeptical and thought they were giving the sight validity, but it seems like this it the way that EA is going to be taking and using our feedback going forward we need to embrace this for better or worse. Because people are gonna be pissed if an idea that is not "sim" gets added because it got the most votes....

That said, there needs to be some policing over there too, because I just went to the recent and there are 1,300 idea across all EA sports games and you view them 10 at a time, so there is the chance that good ones get buried.

Just to reiterate my point and the point that Casey made, if this is one of the ways that EA is soliciting feedback, then OS should be very active on that site with for example LBz "speeding up the DE animations and disengage animations" idea. Which is a really good one. And if this site/idea falls through we can say we tried and were attempting to be a part of the solution not the problem
Absolutely agree. You guys have a path now you KNOW will be seen at EA, you have a huge user base and you are organized...you should be driving the things you want up the leaderboard. It's a bit clunky to use, but it's a tool you didn't have two weeks ago.

Yeah the FIFA community just found out about it today it seems. One post had 500+ votes in an hour, I thought it was a spam account. We have like 23,000 votes in a little more than 2 weeks since it went public. Credit Justin Dewiel for getting this set up. All of us are posting ideas there.

The problem is that no one is going to see the links to the game changers sites or polls. It's not a sticky here (there is one at the EA general discussion), and only mentioned twice in 60 pager of comments here. I personally can't vote at the site since I've received a lifetime ban from EA. If the link to game changers was in the first post, it might get more attention, but buried in this thread, no one will know.

How does on get a lifetime ban from EA?

No, I mean just what I said..."67% of OS gamers." Methinks you inferred something that was not said.

Though many of you may not like this and though it might not have been the smartest thing to do to leave out this feature it's perfectly natural. I'ts actually the same with FIFA, I believe. You can only play your own games.

And it makes perfect sense. Example:
I'm a Broncos fan, so I decide to create myself and coach the Broncos. I make it to the Super Bowl, and in the NFC championship it's Green Bay Packers vs. the awful Cardinals who somehow made it to the NFC Championship.

So I decide to turn down the difficulty and torch the Packers with John Skelton in the NFC Championship because it gives me an easier Super Bowl. Yeah, that's right. The coach of the Denver Broncos called the plays in the NFC CHAMPIONSHIP! Say what?

I know that many of you wouldn't do that, and simply likes to play exciting matchups such as Steelers-Ravens or Saints-Panthers. But honestly... Where's the fun in determining other games outcome than your own? If you ask me, it's neither fun nor logical which is why I find it natural to leave it out.

I'm having a harder time understanding why we can't edit players to our liking. Not that I've ever been using that feature but still.

Anyway, that's my five cents. You probably don't care, but now you know :P
I don't play that way, and in fact, most of these changes won't affect me (I only play my games).

That said, who cares how people play their games offline? As long as they can't to it online, shouldn't they be able to play the game how they want to?

But that's just me.

Long story short, I was outspoken about Madden next gen. I was a big proponent for gameplay changes for realism. I went to the EA forums in 07 or 08 to voice my concerns and offer input. I received a few warnings, and one ban that was overturned quickly (the customer service manager said he saw much worse on the forums and couldn't tell why I had been banned. That ban lasted 1 day), they got tired of me posting on their forums and called me one of the biggest trolls on their forums (forum admin sent that one out of the blue and I had done nothing that could be considered as such). Finally they banned me for posting a reply to a "cheesing thread" ... "do you think this is cheesing". I responded with who gives a rats *** when there is so much more important things to worry about. Ban hammer dropped and even though EA isn't supposed to ban live accounts, if your gamertag is associated with any EA game and their online content, both accounts become banned. The last time I called EA support I was told that the ban was a lifetime ban and would not receive any further review.

If anyone thinks I deserved it, here's my post history from EA's forums

a gamechanger is just a middle man for the devs. they get early access to stuff. that's bout it.

i assume any questions u have pertaining to madden, u would ask them.
don't see why though. sometimes they themselves can't get a straight answer.

you see, this has been the basis of all my post about CC, everyone just blindly acts as if its guaranteed that any of the features that were not included this yr will come back, or that they will come back next yr.

ppl just are hoping that they will come back at some point, and i think what ppl like myself are frustrated with is that we feel we already did and went through yrs of asking EA to bring said features back. and what seemed like should have been a cut in dry thing turned into an enormous undertaking.

so finally we get the features back, then bam they are gone again. just the memories of everything we all had to go through in the 1st place to get those features back and to have to go through it all again. is very deflating and frustrating.

and to top it all off, everyone is not in 100% agreement about which features are most important to begin with.

i havent purchased a madden game in since '10 and b4 that it was '06 on orginal xbox, but up until '06 i had purchased the game religiously since back when thy had the 3-box passing screen. so when i 1st heard the news about CC, i was 1000% sure that this was the yr that i was coming home so to speak, but now i cant possibly see me picking this game up b4 turkeyday.

i guess all the excitement i had never really went away, it just got channeled into a different direction where now im looking 4 answers as to why certain descions have been made.

Obviously not everyone voted, but it's a sampling of the posters here at OS.

Thanks for the replies people. So you're telling me that when I go to play game in offline CC, that screen with the controller select for other people to slide one across to your team is now gone? that screen has always been there! This sh*t is ridiculous. I can't play 12 for any longer because for me it was barely playable for this long. Only a great slider set has kept me into the game but im sick of seeing the same animations or lack thereof. and to think we have to pay $90 for the game here in Aus. Ah well, license is up after this year right?

Maybe this is some cruel joke that is being played on us. I mean how do you take out franchise mode and put in nfl head coach mode? Wake me from this nightmare!

Who cares if you are "cheating?" It's not a contest. If someone wants to play another team's game to get his or her team into the playoffs, that's their business.

I think this all goes back to online and offline being tied into 1. Cheating online is affecting other's game play enjoyment. It seems like all the things that weren't added are things that could cause large problems online, and that is probably where the problems are arising. Now hopefully they can find a way to get it implemented for the offline crowd because I can see where it can be important to some people.

I know what it is like to have a "small" problem that makes a game unplayable. Heck 2K5 is unplayable with the tap to sprint and most would consider that a "small" reason not to play but to me that was huge. But the combining of the game modes while great for the future does seem to be causing changes early that people don't like. It sucks and hopefully they do find a way to get it added so it works both online and off.

That's interesting. I thought it had already been confirmed that there is no couch co-op in CC mode and that you can only control your team. Maybe there's still a little bit of hope for us couch co-op/same console players?

# 519 Lodeus @ 06/20/12 06:12 PM
I didn't even know people did this.

Yes thats what im really enquiring about. I don't play online cause there is so much lag where I am. "couch co-op" is what I meant, surely something as simple as two people playing as the same team on the same ps3 in offline franchise can still be done.?!? I don't play other games cause my created MLB is on my team and I only care about making plays and getting stats with him.
Everything is getting phased out for online with games on this gen they need to calm down a bit and leave these traditional features in.

"If you are playing offline, I don't see where a.second controller couldn't take control of the team you are playing. I will find out" - CRMosier_LM

That would be greatly appreciated CR. My bro and I can't wait for it to come out so we can get a 50 bag and waste many hours in a franchise.
