After 8 years of medicority I don't have the patience for 3 year plans or year 1 of this sound upgrade plan to be honest. The new xbox720s release next fall apparently.

Forget I even mentioned NBA2k or the Show, I expect EA's football game to at least match EA's hockey and soccer game. That doesn't seem unreasonable to me.

Yeah, I knew what he was talking about, but a few weeks ago it was confirmed that was an old build.

I just saw those other games mentioned, and I wouldn't personally think that in the first year Madden would be the same or above the games mentioned, but it's a good target to shoot for.

I hear you KJ on the patience, but based on the past, I want a foundation laid before rushing new tech out and having it buggy.

The only problem I have about the foundation being laid properly first is that, it seems every 3 years, someone new comes along and digs up the foundation and starts over.

What if Chase leaves Madden in 2 years? People thought Ian was on the right path a couple years back--he's gone. I can't recall--is Phil Frazier still there? I think he's gone, too. Now it's Cam Weber's show and foundation...until he goes, as well.

My point isn't that people come and go--it's a business. That happens in life. But you can have people come and go and still maintain a clear direction and goal. If you want a football analogy, look at the Steelers--coaches and players come and go, but the foundation doesn't shift and the goal is never altered.

I feel like the Madden team always has a clear direction...a clear plan for 2-3 years, and then it shifts and we start over.

Understood and agree, but out of our control.

I was merely thinking of the rushed pro-tak, Extra Point, etc...... fight for fumble

Correct me if im wrong but i dont think chase is the main audio guy..from my understanding there is a team working on the audio..its not a one man game here..EA has added double the amount of dev's to madden this year..again correct me if i am wrong.

By the way..this community here gets a lot of my respect..we are part of the reason for the changes taking place..so look at it as a positive thing rather than a negative thing. If it werent for us..i guarantee you madden would NOT be improving like it is right now..

I think you're right for sure on the audio, but I believe Chase is the point man for commentary. Not sure 100% though...

Matt Bialosuknia is the Audio Director, Chase is the Audio Designer, I'm not sure what each role means, but I do know those are their titles.

I would have never used the Steelers as a example. They are so loyal to the their coaches

I would have used the Niners , but I got what your stating with the rest of your post.

They need to stop hiring actual announcers for these gigs. These guys are used to the real thing so asking them to be fired up over a video game is never going to work no matter what you're paying them. I realize the vast majority of people on here want this game to look and sound like a tv broadcast so they want real guys, but it does still feel like an actual broadcast when those guys are half asleep?

# 371 roadman @ 05/25/12 03:18 PM
I thought the Triple Play Series had Buck Martinez as an announcer?

Anyway, E3 should be a better telling where we are at commentary wise.

just looked it up your right roadman not sure what I was thinking of then or maybe those guys were just better at it for some reason

This was the first time I ever watched that clip. I could be wrong, but did anyone else hear an actual name or team name being called? It was just a lot of pronouns. Disappointed to say the least.

NBA 2k has been doing it extremely well for years and years.

I don't get it. It's always something like "the quarterback did a great job here getting the ball to his running back..." Seems like they could easily insert the names of the players involved even if it's a bit awkward.

They keep thinking we need new *flashy* (it's EA, go figure) commentary teams but they always miss the fundamental aspects of having a good system.

Exactly what I was thinking... and the fact that in that 2:30 span, the same touchdown commentary about "changing how the other team manages the game from here on out" scares me a little. I read the previews for M13 and got really psyched... but the commentary seems to have been not improved but replaced

The video is from a older build, I'm really looking forward to hearing some new audio during E3. The audio in the podcast sounded better and you hear some players and team names and stuff. This video is doing more harm than good IMO. The commentary in the podcast made me feel better than I initially felt after hearing the audio in this video.

They did say Rob Ninkovich's name in the livestream, so if that's any barometer (and I know it probably isn't) I think we'll get a decent bunch of names. I'm really interested to hear how it all sounds now that we won't hear any players referred to by numbers.

I really hope they have enough tackling animations. I like the consecutive hit tackling from Madden 12, but the animations didnt always sync with both defenders, and I was left with seeing one defender make the tackle, while the one who made initial contact is warped out of the play.

I think it will be about 60/40 in favor of names. If they say names and then say "he" I'm perfectly ok with that, because that's how it is in real life a lot of times. I'm even ok with them saying numbers as long as they say names right after that because that happens too. I was watching the Pats Steelers game on youtube the other day and Nantz or Simms said "What a great defensive play by 56 Lamarr Woodley". I am not expecting a major improvement in the commentary compared to what we heard in the podcast, I expect it to have some minor tweaks and probably sound a little smoother. If last year's commentary was a 3/10 I would say this years will probably be a 7-7.5/10
