The biggest problem I can see from the dimmed passing icons is if you run the Air Raid offense. The Shallow series of plays featured heavily in an Air Raid offense often utilizes a quick pass that is thrown before the receiver has barely started his route. The square in receiver has an option of being the "hot" receiver on this play, and thus having to wait for the icons to un-dim could render this play obsolete

This imo is a big thing that seems overlooked all the time due to the other major shartcomings of the game; its gaining steam as we go along though. The way Ea animates creates these horrible transitions where an animation should play out (in other titles) and thus making the game look like robotic and wonky. It isn't out of the realm of possibility have an animation where the DB cuts and looks back like the WR and we'd all say it looks right. The way it is now, even if it is right our eyes see lack of momentum and and insta turn thus giving us the WRONG going off in our heads.

That being said even with missing animations that could be added, there are things that shouldn't exist, like the one scene of the DE doing a quick turn to sack the QB. That stuff is bad mo matter the animation used. The realist in me doesn't think that stuff will change drastically this gen though. Maybe with the piecemeal way of them ripping code out and redoing it better new line logic and animations will come along soon. I don't expect 13 to have it MINUS THE DAMN DT LOGIC. That needs to be fixed yesterday.

I think that this is the crux of the issue. This is where everyone has to decide what they can live with.

Gap assignments, tiered playcalling, proper double team blocking in the passing game, I'm not sure that any of that stuff will ever be in an EA Sports football title. Some people can't accept that, it's a totally understandable mindset.

Maybe though, they can get the transitional animations up to snuff, so that we don't see habitual occurrences of scenes that either defy Newton's Laws or make the players seem as if they lack control of their gross motor skills. I think that most of us could live the the gameplay if they did that, as well as continued to improve the A.I. and the other aspects of the game of course.

Problem with this picture is that NCAA and Madden is at the end of their life on the current gen. console. EA ain't going to waste time and resources on this current gen. madden and ncaa. That will happen next gen. Don't understand why people keep expecting whole new graphics for ncaa and madden13 for this current gen console. Same graphics just new additions to the animations. EA is trying their best to work with what they have right now. Nothing they can really do about it at this point. Accept try their best to improve the gameplay how ever until the next gen consoles come out late next year sometime. So for me I ain't expecting anything great graphics wise this year. Some improvement in the gameplay overall with the same engine.

The DB doesn't appear to run the route before the WR, the DB is underneath and trailing the WR the entire time, reacting to the WR's movements. It's not until after the WR turns their head to look for the ball, that the DB does. At that point, due to the poor placement of the pass, the DB is in better position to make a play on the ball than the WR.

So basically, imo, on some of those plays they are demonstrating a poor throw by the QB as a result of throwing across their body.

I think that is all NCAA 13 footage too and aside from the legacy transitional animation issues, seems to be an improvement. Now if on Tuesday they say that was NCAA 12 footage, all my credibility is shot and I will stop speculating about NCAA 13. lol
Like I said before. With only 2 mins of video of different clips of gameplay going by fast as lightening. It's hard to really tell what it going on. That is why I'm waiting until this Tuesday to really dig into the gameplay. We will get a better feeling on how the offense and D will looking this year. Why everyone is trying to break down the offense here. No one ain't really talked about the D and how this will all be defended. Come Tuesday it will get real interesting around here then after the live stream. Hard to debate wheather ncaa13 gameplay is going to be good or not with just 2 mins of video. Waiting is key.

Well compared to last Gen graphics. I don't think this current gen. graphics looks bad. It is just how they use the animations to make the plays happen. The graphics are way better this Gen. I have no complaints. Just how ugly some of plays look and been run is what is killing the game. If they can fix that. Then the game would be much better.

well, NCAA and I assume Madden both run at/near 60 fps on 360. been so since NCAA '09(where it was actually talked about how the game now runs at 60fps!!!).

not really sure what fps has to due with graphic quality, though. It's not like higher fps = better graphics.

I'd be happy if the players they modeled actually moved like humans. In all seriousness, they do need work.

NEO

I think your post addresses maybe the 1% of issues people talk about...

most of us are frustrated with the outcomes we dont control....like the cpu not being able to execute its own offense

like me playing with UAB in dynasty and cpu ALABAMA at home throws 4 picks in the first half because the game cant execute. i personally NEVER userpick its too easy...

sliders cant fix this. Its a flaw in the game's movement system, thats our issue...

i will resist the urge to comment on this game being the equal of the mlb the show or nba2k11 or 12... yeah right

i like ncaa 12 i logged over 200hrs with it... does not mean i cant state the fact that the game needs major improvement...

It's literally as though this forum is populated not by fans of this game but by people who were once fans of this game. What in the holy hell do you guys want? NCAA 12 is a sports video game on current-gen consoles that provides roughly the same experience as every other sports video game on current-gen consoles. I mean I truly, honestly, don't see how anyone can think NBA 2K12 and MLB The Show are great games and think this one sucks. It's all the same ****. They all act and respond to input in basically the exact same ways.

It needs to be balanced to coincide with your personal skill-set, just like every other sports game, but once that balance is achieved, what is the problem here? You're moving around little virtual dudes on the screen that have attributes for certain tasks like blocking, speed, etc. So far as I can tell, blockers block, tacklers tackle, throwers throw, and runners run. Plays work when you execute them, they don't when you don't. When you mess something up, you get something wonky and ugly. When you're in position to make a play, and you press the right button at the right time, you make the play. What is this wizardry you guys speak of where this isn't the case?

It's like most of you never put in any time into mastering the game at all; you're all a bunch of 20-hour types who gave up on the game 6 months ago. And I'm telling you right now, as someone who's never stopped liking this franchise, and who's pretty effing goddamn good at this game, it really, really shows when a poster's complaints are directly related to their incompetence. (Most of you would know this already, but you quit on this game and this franchise so long ago that you don't even know what you're talking about anymore.)

And don't get me wrong, I know what "psychic defenders" are - I see them all the time: they're the result of making a stupid throw. Sorry to be blunt like that but there it is. For every "superman LB" occurrence you've seen, I guarantee you there's another guy somewhere who, given the exact same scenario, would not only have completed the pass but who would have subsequently juked the **** out of the linebacker then busted his shoulder into the saftey's face and plowed forward for another three yards. You're off whining about cheap AI, he's got a first and 10 on a sick play. DO YOU DOUBT ME ON THIS?

And I'll tell you something else: ya'll suckers if you think it's gonna be any different next year. Sure, they're addressing the "issue" because you're loud about it. In other words, they're gonna tweak it to make it easier so that next year you people who can't pass for a damn will get to see what those of us who can pass have seen all along: that you can already thread needles; you can already put a pass in between three defenders with your WR executing a dope one-handed jump ball catch; you can already put mad touch on your throws. Hell, next year people will start to see more and more of this and then come here to bitch that the passing game is overpowered. That or passing won't be too easy and it'll just shift to "the defense is way too quick in recognizing the play!!" instead of them being "psychic" - because they're the same complaint in the end, mark my words: "I didn't complete the pass I thought I should have and it cannot possibly be related to my execution."

You want good O-line play? You had better execute with your quarterback in the pocket: actually pressing down on the left stick at the snap, followed by up on the left stick at the precise moment the drop-back ends; say you see the RDE slipping your LT and shading towards the inside, you're pressing toward two o'clock on the left stick, perhaps followed by a hard pull to 7 o'clock, yeah? A move like that is the sort of thing that causes the LT to reengage the DE, yet almost no one talks about stuff like that because they're too busy complaining about how the OL/DL interactions are bad. To my mind, OL/DL interactions are relative to what you're doing on the sticks with the QB or RB. If they're bad, you're not playing very well.

Understand I'm not trying to be some know-it-all jackass talking down to people; if I'm talking down to anyone it's people who aren't having fun with something that's plenty fun. You're at a videogame party and COLLEGE EFFING FOOTBALL is the main attraction and you're off in the corner not playing because you think the AI is "cheap." Get over yourself and turn down the sliders.

And that's another thing (last thing I promise): you go to a shooter forum and if you don't have a 2.0 KDR it's "scrub" this and "scrub" that; but come here and post a vid of your sorry *** getting picked off no-look style by the AI and it's "omg that's awful." I agree - awful playing leads to awful gameplay vids. Yet those hundreds and thousands of posts that include the phrase "just had the most AMAZING game" all get lost in the garbage posts by NON-FANS of this game.
That was an awful lot of writing to so thoroughly miss the point. Every single point you make is based off of flat out false premises. I mean, they are not opinions, they are absolute falsehoods.

Quote:
So far as I can tell, blockers block.
Except, they don't. Pulling guards and fullbacks do not block, wide receivers don't block down field and pass blocking is hit or miss. I'll grant your pass blocking premise in the third paragraph as I have had better luck with it than most.

Quote:
Tacklers tackle

Except, they don't. Call certain defensive plays against an option on offense and watch your entire defense get stuck in a foosball table trance and don't attempt to tackle.

Quote:
Throwers throw
Except, they don't. There is no trajectory on any passes, so linemen and linebackers can knock down passes intended for receivers 25 yards down field with ease. I'll leave psychic DB's out of this, it's been beaten to death.

Quote:
Runners run
Except, they don't. There is very little user control over individual runners and movements are jerky, slow and unrealistic, especially with a running quarterback.

Quote:
Plays work when you execute them, they don't when you don't
This is the most false premise of the bunch. In any given playbook, roughly half the plays (offense and defense), do not work. And when I say they do not work, I'm not saying they are difficult to run, I'm saying they DO NOT WORK. I'll give you a quick run down just off the top of my head (I haven't played in a few months):

- Any Pistol read option play

- Any under center play action play (even if you finish the play action without getting sacked, not a soul on defense bites)
- Any play with a fade route
- A significant portion of Flexbone plays
- Any number of passing plays have routes or route combinations that do not work (comebacks, stick n nod, sluggos, etc, etc)

I'm sure others could add many more things on to this list.

I highly doubt you'll find many users on this forum who are incompetent at this game. I win an overwhelming majority of my online lobby games, I win an overwhelming majority of my online dynasty games (user and CPU). I know this game better than most because I've spent a long time learning its ins and outs. I took that time to learn the ins and outs so I could make this game enjoyable, you'll find that is the case with most people here on OS. I get great joy out of this game after I put the work in.

I don't even know where to start on your middle paragraph. It doesn't make sense. It is just one large lump of nonsense. You may find people are more receptive to your arguments when you organize them into coherent thoughts. It might also help to not have every other line laced with inflammatory remarks about how we all must suck.

See my arguments above? They are made in coherent sentences, without needing to attack you as a player or person. I don't need to attack you as a player or person because my post is filled with facts. YOU do need to attack us as players and people because your post is filled with inaccuracies and thus your only options are to be inflammatory.

Except, they do not. The problem with sliders is that one notch one way or another is the difference between CPU incompetence and an overwhelmingly good CPU. Additionally, one slider can (and does) impact seemingly unrelated sliders.

This creates a problem where you have to sacrifice one or two parts of game play to make another realistic. If you boost the running game sliders enough to have a competent spread option attack, a power run attack becomes over powered.

A CPU passing attack can go from incompetent to unstoppable at the drop of a hat. You'll find that anyone who has worked on sliders would agree with this. Sliders are not enough to make the game work correctly.

I think everyone is entitled to their own opinion. If you throw in NCAA 06 and you can tell me it is the same experience I'd call you crazy. Its the people who want it to be that way again, like me, that see the faults with this engine. If you like it the way it is, then that's great too. I just don't feel the same way, no hostility towards those who do.

It's obvious there are more people on here that complain than praise the NCAA game now. There is a reason for that.... I am a college football junkie, yet have to play a below average game if I want to play the sport in a video game. The Show and 2K doing a lot better job of representing their sports than NCAA has in recent years.

i was right !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You have to see it before you can make a play on the ball.

25 new pass trajectories

different drop backs

new throw on the run mechanic

Passing icon not available until the WR complete his route.

Theres a very big difference between a game having a few flaws, and not being able to advance an online dynasty (the game's biggest feature) due to an infinite number of transfer failed messages. People can tolerate flaws. However, most cannot tolerate a game that doesn't work.

No game is going to replicate the sport 100%. There will always be flaws. However, when they can't get fundamental aspects like player movements and interactions even remotely close to real life, you end up with a game that doesn't look, play, or feel like the real thing. Other games, such as FIFA, The Show, and NBA 2K have their share of problems, but I'm better able to become immersed in those games because of their more realistic approach. Simply put, I don't like those games because they're "perfect," I like those games because they replicate their respective sports to a far better degree than NCAA/Madden replicate football. In my opinion, of course.
