NBA Live 13 News Post

The last NBA Live game, NBA Live 10.

Kotaku has the scoop, with #1 Draft Pick Kyrie Irving breaking the news on Twitter and EA then confirming it.

Quote:
""This fall we'll launch an all-new experience that captures the future of basketball with NBA Live 13," a spokesman said. "More to come soon."

What do you think about the move back? Good idea? Bad idea?

And I dont see how the future of basketball will be displayed in Live 13 when its using 6 year old hardware.
So I guess it was to powerfull for backbreaker that has 22 players on the feild?

Lol. I dunno if Subversion is truly a gaming industry insider but in his defense, Backbreaker wasn't that great. The game seemed very bareboned and I don't know if it could have handled more than it did. Maybe that's apart of why NM didn't create a true sequel to it.

I am hoping that them strategically using the phrase "future of basketball..." has something to do with an NCAA integration.

Probably wishful thinking, but it'd be awesome to have some sort of myplayer mode that starts with the McDonald's All American High School game, through college, and into the NBA.

Even more awesomeness for being able to decide when you enter the NBA draft with some sort of risk factor depending on when you do.

I don't see what was so "bareboned" about Backbreaker.

The game had a franchise mode, a custom editor for all 32 teams, online play, minigames, etc.

Pretty much all the features you'd expect for a typical sports game.

The poor sales of the first game are the reason there's no true sequel to Backbreaker.

Or they could have used it to show developers of sports games what they can do with the engine because sports is the just about the only ones that don't use these engines. Also ain't Backbreaker the first game they created?

If this game does come out the only way I would buy it is if it had College Basketball integrated into it in some fashion. I've been craving a new College Hoops game!

Honestly I don't see why EA even bothered to come out with a new game on these consoles. If the new generation is almost here why try and put the new game out on this console instead of waiting. Plus lets face it, 2K has really impressed with 2K11 and, even though they could have done better, 2K12. For EA to try and recapture its fan base before the next gen its going to be a bad move. I'd rather them take an extra year, work out all the kinks then put out a new game that could still be just as flawed as the old one.

I was honestly expecting EA to just drop basketball entirely so they could focus on football and maybe bring back baseball. But at least now we can see that they are committed to NBA Live. I think this was a bad move by EA but they did need to get this franchise back on its feet again.

me personally, i want to see how live 13 includes a my player mode or whatever they call their mode like that. hopefully they will give us something new that we havent seen from 2k. I mean maybe give us some different some people instead of jordan to be our mentor [not everyone wants to be like jordan. Maybe we are a point guard who is not a scorer like jordan.] Last cant our overall be based on were we get drafted or match our overall compared to what our opponent's rating is [ex. im a sg in a draft combine or whatever against a player like i dont know evan turner 75 overall] so our player would start out like a 70 overall or something like that. but thats just my oppinion on how it should made.

I hope they kept and upgraded the become legendary mode from elite 11 cuz they should no that the my player mode from 2k is pretty much the only thing keeping 2k afloat. cuz once ea perfects their gameplay and become legendary mode 2k will have no chance. think about it

2K13, IMO. 2K's been bringing it for the most part and Live has to prove itself again to most hardcore gamers.

I'd be all over Live 13 if it had Euroleague teams.

Elite is a dumb name for a basketball game anyways.

# 137 arden_05 @ 03/15/12 12:55 PM
The name was really not that important. It's whether they can keep up or surpass 2K and at this point even becoming their equal in basketball is a tall order. They have to come up with ground breaking realism of some kind to compete with them. I'm a bit skeptical as to how this can be accomplished. Live was always a fun game. Personally I saw it as more of an arcade game than a simulation. But time will tell.

I think EA Sports will be pushing towards their sports videogames becoming sim in the future.

# 139 Griff713 @ 03/18/12 09:34 AM
Can someone tell me whats the difference between Arcade and sim?

We don't know that yet, maybe in a couple of months when EA makes the game announcement.
