NBA Live 13 News Post

The last NBA Live game, NBA Live 10.

Kotaku has the scoop, with #1 Draft Pick Kyrie Irving breaking the news on Twitter and EA then confirming it.

Quote:
""This fall we'll launch an all-new experience that captures the future of basketball with NBA Live 13," a spokesman said. "More to come soon."

What do you think about the move back? Good idea? Bad idea?

I would have to say the return to "Live" was inevitable. Anybody else associate "NBA Elite" with the word "Fail" like I do?

good move, the name Elite has failure all over it. cant wait to see what they did with this game.

Please since NBA have the FIBA License bring in Euroleague imagine having the choice of customizing your league to be mixed of NBA and Europe or just having the choice to play as a European team. Look if the can come up with about 200 clubs in FIFA they can do it in NBA Live 13 come on EA get it right and NBA LIVE 05 was the greatest.

As long as they removed the Hockey guy..Good guy but not the right guy for basketball...

Live 10 was great. Looking forward to this.

Great move. I just hope they built on the old Live engine rather than reboot the franchise and release something with a lot of bugs and problems.

I think it's great for EA to make that move..Live is a known name for their basketball series. Lets just hope they get more sim and less arcade or it will be just like it's always been. 2k > Live.

Looking forward to this. Not only for what live 13 may be but for competition purposes.

havent bought a ea basketball game since 2k2, always try out their demo's tho. hopefully they can put out a more sim product and drop the gimmicky stuff. 2k has failed in the online aspect maybe Live can take advantage of that. looking forward to new information and eventually trying their demo

Ofcourse this is great news. Ill admit im not a big basketball guy but competition is everything in video game sports titles and we need competition. Now please end the EA NFL exclusive license. Thats all i ask.

Why do people want the new game built off Live 10 engine? It was a good game but that engine is old with way too many problems. We don't need another b-ball game with suction and 2 man animations, scripted gameplay is dead.

Lol why would you use lebron in a cabs jersey for the picture of this story? U couldve chose ANY other player haha

Meaning less, it was never about the name, don't know what people are getting hyped over

Good AND smart move. Someone at EA had enough business acumen to realize that the name NBA Elite would be synonymous with the 'failure' that was NBA Elite 11.

And I have said, I still loved the controls in Elite 11. I hope those stayed put (although I did love Live 10's controls except the lack of a consistent steal button) and they properly built on that and the great things from years past...and then added even more.

I really hope they worked that team like slaves since Elite 11. Lol. I half joke about that cuz I know how cats in the gaming industry DO have to work long hours many a time to get a final product. I hope, if they did, the final product will be mind blowing...and even if they didn't, I still want my brain matter sizzling in a good way when I get my hands on it.

Great news about the name. Anyway, the real news here is that the game is in a playable state, which is to be expected. Apparently Rubio played it too. I wanna see what they got.

The last installment of Live that I got my hands on was '06 and it left a pretty foul taste in my mouth, but that's hardly considered to be Live's golden era. Remember some pretty positive things about the Live 10 demo, just hoping they expound upon that formula instead of trying to improve the Elite engine. Either way, competition is always sweet. Here's hoping for a solid Fall.

Looks like John Wall and Ricky Rubio have had some time with the game as well.

"that captures the future of basketball with NBA Live 13"

Hmm I wonder what that means, and what EA has up their sleeve. They didn't add the word "future" in there for no reason.
