NBA Live 13 News Post

The last NBA Live game, NBA Live 10.

Kotaku has the scoop, with #1 Draft Pick Kyrie Irving breaking the news on Twitter and EA then confirming it.

Quote:
""This fall we'll launch an all-new experience that captures the future of basketball with NBA Live 13," a spokesman said. "More to come soon."

What do you think about the move back? Good idea? Bad idea?

Elite was a bad name and I think a lot of us have memories of gaming Live in the 90's on our Sega Genesis or Super Nintendo. lol

People are hopeful that EA can come through with NBA Live and I would like to see them produce a great game but year in and out the NBA Live community has had that same hope for EA to finally get over the hump but that hasn't happened just yet. This is why I feel they still have a lot of pressure on them...not only to compete with 2K but they have to prove to there fans that they can produce a very good basketball game, they have very little room for error with this years title and since they had a bit more time to work with the title people are going to expect more from them this year than what they have given. Again this is my opinion but I do agree with your 2K statement Czar.
Well said !!! I would hope that the community would approach it with that mindset and keep em honest. But I just feel a ton of good will towards the dev team and the product from all the sites I visit. That is not a bad thing at all but there is an excitement and expectation level that when elite was cancelled I did not think we would see so quickly.

im very intrested in seeing what EA has in store if they drop the ball then i doubt i will play anymore new bball games. 2k burned me too many times. if EA can get the fundamentals of the game balanced, good online, good superstar, dynasty, etc modes right theres no reason this years game cant be good. hopefully they have a way to where they can insert new and old people into the game without patches

I'll reserve assessments of product quality for later... but the cover athlete will be whomever (Kyrie Irving) wins Rookie of the Year.... #symbolic equivocation of the franchise's reboot.

I have a feeling the same people would herald them and reason why it would be ok to keep the E - Lite name

A sports game with a 2 year gaming cycle.. will any excuses be acceptable?

Great idea! 2K has slacked this year. This way they'll step their game up and having to different basketball game to switch from is great for the fans.

They're probably going with the physics system that's in FIFA.

Dont know why it was changed in the first place but im glad to hear any piece of info on this title

I might give it a try, but this is EA's last chance as far as basketball goes. If they screw this one up, they're done.

If they do I hope they add the Ik technology that was in Elite 11 and went crazy with the signature moves. Also they better add more camera views the Live series done had the same 4 for years.

People should stop jumping the gun. EA has said thoughout all their Virtual sports franchises; will all go through a 3 yr development plan; and having a 2 yr cycle under their belts (= to 1 year), in time for a fall release would and should tell consumers that the product wont be "All That", first go around. If people learned to read and understand more; they wouldnt get too hyped about a product that is trying to make a "Come back" into a virtual sports gaming market.
EA's goal right now is to give consumers "another" option for bball titles to play other than 2K. EA knows they cannot compete with NBA 2k head on right now.
If EA had released NBA ELITE, some people would have purchased it to play; after they got pissed off with NBA 2K12's good but buggy game. I for a fact would have, just to see where EA could have done much better. Even though the demo was total utter garbage, i still wanted the game; but not at full price!
I consider myself a video gamer; i just like to play video games, good or bad; and i always want to play the best game possible that is out on the market.
So lets not get our undies wet yet people, and enjoy all the other exciting games out their until we get the demo!

cheers

There's gonna be a lot of sad faces when we realize that they're using the same engine they've always used.

If some are invited back to community day, I can only hope for some honest impressions this time around.
