Can't you....
-turn of the baserunning windows
-have no feedback on the swing analysis
-shut off the strike zone and h/c zones
-guess pitch off(is there a no feedback on this one too?)

Wouldn't that just leave the pitch selection screen and the swing choice option on display?

Yup! I turn them off myself, actually.

You'll notice that the big thing is when you watch the graphics appear/disappear on the screen. It's like, even if the small swing type graphic was the only thing on the screen, seeing it come on and off is almost every bit as distracting as having everything on the screen.

I'm not saying this is my problem, I'm just saying that I've seen it before with nothing on the screen, and it looks beautiful. If you go into your XMB after a pitch and wait for the post-pitch animations to play out, the game will freeze when it's ready to load up all of the icons. Back out of the XMB, and for the next pitch, you won't see anything on screen. This isn't always true for MLB 11 (sometimes the grayed out pitch options pop back up after the pitcher selects his pitch), but this was the case in MLB 10.

Anyway, just something to look forward to next year.

Have there been any changes to the fielding cameras?

# 243 lw22 @ 01/01/12 04:45 PM
Please change the colour of the second and fourth pitches (purple and orange). It's very difficult to see on TV (Maybe something like bright red or yellow). Thanks.

I think last year it was about a week before the game came out, yeah. I can't remember playing the demo that much.

I'd say expectation is one thing, reality is another. So many things come into play from now till then that don't even guarantee the game will release when scheduled.

In a perfect world, they'll probably want to release it the Tuesday before the game releases, or maybe two Tuesdays before. Although, at some point, it's out of their hands as the demo needs to be approved by Sony before it can be officially released.

Wow can't believe it took them this long to put Confidence/Energy bars on the screen.

Nice little addition.

Next week during CES good chance of first gameplay videos and interviews with Russell

Gametrailers.com maybe the first with some footage.

Of course Russell said it will only have 25% or so of the Presentation stuff in it.

After reading thought this thread I have got some real perspective on just how spoiled and greedy we have become "me included"

We have so much access to the developers that we take them for granted with all of our wants and needs and expect nothing but perfection now

I remember how much I loved the ASB series and how I was always amazed how much stuff they there able to pack into there game, and then remembering that we had little to no access to developers except for ASBMan but we loved the product and trusted them to deliver

I have gotten too caught up with insignificant cosmetic issues and need to care about having a working franchise and solid game play with few bugs

My only request.....

I just want the lineups & rosters that I spend hours on to get perfect to stay set from the beginning without having to send down 435 players or go through a complex process that needs it own "how to" thread

Any chance the first post can be updated with all the "other tidbits" people find?

Very excited for this. Something tells me it might be the best one yet.

I would not worry. While the entry level difficulties are made to appeal to newer less experienced players, myself and others are always giving feedback on how to make the higher difficulties even more challenging.

Russel,

The Miama Marlins Ballpark video indicates that the stadium's roof opens and closes, will the same improvement be implemented in game for the Seattle Mariners? In 11, the roof stayed open even if it was raining, which would never happen in a real game.

Also, Free agency seemed unfair in franchise mode, as not all players were ever allowed to be in the market, such as Albert Pujols. In real life the Cardinals didn't offer enough and he was tossed into FA, but in Franchise Mode, I simulated the postseason several times in a row and he never ever showed up as an option to try and buy off. However unrealistic it seemed that Albert Pujols would leave the Cardinals... it still happened.

And A-rod retired due to Age... ridiculous lol. Have minor things like these been addressed at all? (i'm not saying do it now! because i know we're past that dev stage)

I wanted to cut you short here, because that video was not an SCEA production. It is something made for, and uploaded to, MLB.com for the real life stadium. The ad banners in the video are exactly that, ad banners (they don't even say '12, for that matter).

I actually think the video is very old, or at least I've seen something very much like that on BallparksofBaseball.com once before.

Any chance of more classic uniforms or classic teams this year?

Well you shouldnt get bashed. Its a valid point and it deserves attention. We will have to wait and see what happens. They certainly have made changes. I heard one dev, Aaron I think, really wants to overhaul the whole franchise part of the game but has not had the opportunity yet. And that is probably a very good thing considering all the changes MLB made in the most recent labor agreement. If an overhaul did take place, then it would probably have to just be done again to fit the new agreement. Fingers crossed.

Hopefully there are a couple of more presets that bring us even closer to the action (pitcher and rest of the field is closer in a smaller field of vision) that I would probably work with.

Are you implying that your daughter would play MLB The Show if these customization options were in the game?
Yes, and I would be dang proud. Dang proud I say!!!!!

Let me say thst The Show is far and away the best sports game. It emulates one of the most difficult sports to near perfection.

Complaints about presentation, banners, etc are understandable as consumers want a fresh product but nothing beats the gameplay. Now bring on classic Tiger Stadium and let's get it on.

We haven't released any video of Marlins stadium.

And to say that you're just tired of other people defending the game blindly...a lot of it is people using these threads properly and discussing or stating wheather they like a feature or not that has just been released ..its not letting other "flaws" slip by. but maybe it's because some crazy fan has already beaten it to death in every other info thread that turned in to a rant on whats wrong and/or hijacking it to go on about what features arent included before even half the features are released yet, all under the guise of informing people because it yet again was over looked.

Honestly, maybe Russel can say, how many things were over looked or fell through the cracks that wasnt brought up in the bug threads in proper manner and was truly fixed because a "fan" repeated their buying habits and ultimatums and dire concerns for something so simple that surely it could be fixed?

I personally dont like the idea of a pitcher to be farther away. Thats part of the intimidation of a 6'7+ pitcher on a mound he is close and towering, if you need more time to react guess better or slow the pitch down..but we have custom camera angles.

Also I like the idea of less displays but also like the fewer button presses/menu screens..I do wish for a pitch counter tho, sportsnet on rogers doesnt and Im always wondering what it is..I spend a lot of time looking at pitch counts so i can work starters.

In bold true dat, I can never really wrap my head around it. It's as if someone starts giving out free apple pie and people start complaining about the forks.

Anyway all of the old camera views from last year are still in the game. In addition even though the camera is further away the pitch speeds is consistent. It's an optically illusion that you think you would have more time to react but in reality it's the same for the classic and the new camera view.
