Well actually 2k dealt with it quite nicely.

That's nice but I'm sticking with playing center and trying out the new blocking mechanic that 2k implemented. No more hands going through the ball...

on the D or off D its just a game. People play how they gonna play for their enjoyment. I love playing people who play off the ball because they cpu cant do what a user can do so they are easy to get by.

Now this is music to my ears!
Just hope it isnt the case for myplayer...

Sweet! I love the idea of rewarding the user who plays onball defense.

Off-topic: Is the Controls Insight the last insight we'll be getting? I haven't heard any news about the Association?

Great! i think its so cheap when guys play off ball defense. Why get online if your scared to play on ball defense? i just dont get it. But anyway I look forward to making my Warriors a defensive team once i use them, i take pride in playing defense in 2k, no greater feeling then locking somebody down, and running it right down thier throat on the fast break

I hope that choosing to contest or not the shots in the paint helps managing players in foul trouble...

Great insight!
But there isn't anything new regarding Zone defenses...
So perfect is nothing, I guess.

Cheers! ;-)

He said they improved on the fake passes, but in 2k11 you couldn't fake pass on the run. You had to be at a stand still position. What would be nice is if you are able to fake pass on a fastbreak or a drive to the lane to open up more space for the layup or fake out the defender on the run.

What about double teams. They didn't initiate quick enough last year. I hope they're fixed.

I only use manual double teams, but I just can't get the animation to start. My teammate comes over but he just stands next to me.

having settings for how cpu reacts to screens? sick! the level of detail that 2k delivers in their games never ceases to amaze me.

Best insight yet. The controls were a drag for me the past few years on defense. Sounds like they might be better this time 'round. We'll see though. I'm not sold until I get my hands on the gameplay.

I agree. I've also had problems with them sliding over for 2 seconds and then leaving

damn, a lot of **** i've been crying for on the official forums over the last couple of years are in there. The hands up while moving was a big one I've been crying for since 2k9 when it was the only way to make people miss in the hole that year and it looked realistic. With it came with a rehaul of contest rules too which was definitively needed although i'm curious if they are touching on multiple entities having the correct impact on contests. Inverse Kinematics on the blocking was a important one too because they've been putting these bandaids on blocking over the years to get a similar result of more accurate blocking but all they did was look stupid or break the game. I'm not going to act like they even read my bitching on the forums. These enhancements are just logical steps to cleaner gameplay. They finally got into that decrepit *** engine of theirs.

I wonder how successful the wrap up foul is. I can see it being exploited online during laggy games where free throws are difficult.

In NBA 2K12, we have addressed this by creating vulnerability windows during all shots.

During the gather, from the moment the shooter starts the shot and before he leaves the ground, he is vulnerable. During that window, a defender can strip the ball away by timing the steal command properly. This applies to hop step layups, euro layups, spin layups, spin dunks, etc. These moves are no longer overpowering once you learn and detect their vulnerable windows. Player skill also factors in as well.
This is my only concern, that strips will become rampant once people learn the windows.

With the lack of fouls called in online play it could become a new part of a cheesers arsenal. I would hope it is extremely hard to consistently disrupt these shots.

I wish i would have thought about this when the thread was still fresh but i have a vid of me playing the bulls and im playing off ball d. You can see in it that im not just standing around and im very active.

Not so good quality but it was my first vid and i didnt know how to change anything. But you can see that im actually guarding people and trying to stay with people coming off screens. Not just standing around and camping in the paint.
