Maybe they catered to much to the casual crowd by removing the d-league, I loved the transition from the crappy stadiums with no fans to the flare and flash of playing an nba game, it felt like you achived something, also it was fun to dominate the d-league.
Although I can't flaw this new system for it's realism, most nba players come from college or oversees and not by dominating in the d-league.

i liked the d league in 2k10 because if one team sent you there it didn't mean they would have to get you back. i thought that would happen in 2k11
Everything looks great. But I do wish the skill points stayed the same as 2K11 along with starting off at the 37-41 overall rating. That made the game more rewarding. I earned a 99 overall in NBA 2K11.

But I do understand that it's not going to be easy to get a 99 overall according to Ronnie. It's still going to take a lot of money. I just kind of liked the old way of coming up. But we shall see.... The contracts and money spending are awesome though. I loved the Hall of Fame presentation. The new endorsements look amazing. Thank God for improved A.I. I won the championship on NBA 2K11 on hall of fame difficulty, but in a lot of games I had to carry my team, though I had a career high 22assist in a game. The problem was the A.I made my teammates take the dumbest shots sometimes.
Hopefully I've seen the last of Manu Ginobli shooting 3s every single time he touched the ball outside the arc.
Every. Single. Time.
It was funny teammates couldnt shoot a ball into the ocean standing in a boat, but the CPU could make shots blindfolded. I could never get players hot(besides Bigs). and hopefully they fixed CPU Low Post. It seemed like once their BIGs got in to the post it was a 80% of them scoring
Hopefully it is fixed.
Completely agree with dukedude, eko, and jukeman. Why scrap the combine, summer league, d league and not even add training camp? This mode should at first reflect the life of a late first or second round pick. Not too much is guaranteed, if my player is in the 60's overall. Their is no way my performance in one game should determine my draft position. These events weren't monotonous BECAUSE THEY REALLY HAPPEN. Hopefully they add them to association.
That initial buzz should be based on simulated stats, whether college, international, or D-League (Latavious Williams). Skills, Traits, Strengths, Weakness, and personality information should be what team scouts and your agent already have. Your agent should be in contact with teams leading up to pre draft events like: the invitationals (Portsmouth) and Combine, Individual team workouts and Player Interviews. As you perform well in all these aspects your draft stock value or rating should improve, teams and your agent should inform you of your stock. After being drafted Las Vegas or Orlando Summer Leagues should be next. Training Camp would a been a good edition if you were selected in the second round because your spot is not guaranteed. Another edition that would have been good to is practice.
It's a shame to see all the summer league games disappear along with the draft combine. Hell, it was a great way to play against those top picks like John Wall and earn some cred. I would like to see 2k bring in back and make it in depth. Give it to us as an option so all the casual gamers can skip it like the Nba draft in association. Don't remove content just allow personalisation and everyone is happy, hardcore and casual alike..
And yet, once I played with him, he couldn't make a thing.
I wound up on the Nets and Anthony Morrow couldn't make a shot to save his life either.
I was in the same situation with the Nets. I was already on the Nets. In the offseason we picked Morrow up. I was like great someone who can me assists. He couldnt make a three at all
I thought I was the only one who read about all their taking out and was disappointed. They choose to replace substance with fluff things to appeal to more casuals. This isn't 2K's style IMO, and the wrong direction. I like the things they added, but not at the expense of what it cost MP. MP should be about both the journey and the destination. This year they have tilted MP from being mostly about the journey to mostly about the destination. Not sure if this will improve the shelf life of the mode. Hopefully 2K13 can do a better job of encompassing both aspects.
I hate to see the combine and summer league go as well. Yes, they kinda get boring after awhile, but to me it was the build-up to finally making it to the season. It would be nice if it had been an option and maybe the insentive be that you only start out a maximum of 5 OVR points better if you do all of it instead of simming it.
Either way though, this was a phenomenal insight. I love this mode, but agree the most important upgrade would be teammate AI. If that is addressed, all of the other features they mentioned will be icing on the cake.
Get the 7'5 cheesers outta there though and give more insentive to bringing your MP online. The fact alone that there is going to be an Online Insight has me excited that maybe 2K will finally get the online aspect of the game up to where the rest of the game is.
The whole AI got an increase in overall skill thing is a moot point I guess. Why don't people realize that Custom Sliders would make the MyPlayer experience beyond super easy? I don't care what anyone says you know there are going to be people that pretty much set everything at 100 for exponential growth in short time stretches. It takes away from the whole earn it mentality and you might as well just edit a player instead.
you have to let the customer play they way he wants to, we are paying the money for the product. what about the people that want to make it harder on ourselves? without sliders, I cannot do this. I want to progess slower, and my teammates to shot realistic %. difficulty settings do not accomplish this at all...if I want to take away certain easy aspects of the game I have to not do them completely, isntead of using sliders to make it harder. pretty soon you're not even playing basketball..
this is the only reason i can keep playing the MLB2k my player, because I can make it as hard as I want to get a hit. i don't enjoy hitting .350 for a season like most people, I like to make it a challenge so when i do have a big game or series it is more rewarding. NBA2k will NEVER be like that until they add custom sliders, its a real shame too since this is my favorite offline mode but is pretty useless to me as is...
Why even have different types then? All around, athletic, 3 point specialist, defensive, etc., mean nothing, because the caps are laughable. As it is now, everybody just picks athletic for pretty much every position, because they can build up a money 3, become a great defender, pass the rock like Steve Nash, iso motion like Allen Iverson. Nobody in unique. You can't decide, "All right, I'm going to become Reggie Miller and everybody in crew is going to want me as their shooting guard because of it," because everybody and their Mom is going to be able to drain threes like it's nothing while being able to do everything else at an elite level, too. At its core My Player is an RPG..where everybody becomes the same class in the end.
I would take this a step futher and mention the fact that you can become great without even practicing or performing well at whatever.
I don't mind loser caps that's not unrealistic. Who would have thought Jason Kidd would become a elite 3point shooter? The problem is a can pick an athletic player(because they start you higher with the most expensive attributes) than just practice shooting and become the best defender, rebounder, and passer. There's no penalty for being raw talent and there's no advantage to being a specialist. I want skills to trump talent and I want to have to actually practice that skill to get better at it.
I'm officially challenging 2K to eliminate skill points next year. This game should be about practice and experience. Once again if they want to give skill points to start out and some kind of "time points" in the offseason that cool, but the season should force your MP to practice to improve his skill not give out ambiguous points.
