NCAA Football 12 News Post

IGN posted a story today detailing some of the additions to Dynasty mode in NCAA Football 12.

The biggest change seems to be the ability to create a coach and move up the coaching ranks. Many folks have been begging for a "coaching carousel" in this series, so this addition seems like it should make a lot of people happy.

Quote:
...EA and Tiburon have responded and given players the ability to create their own coaches from scratch. You can modify looks, set ages and even pick an alma mater. Save these changes, and you can share them with the world and every mode in your game.

That stuff might sound cosmetic, but it plays into the cool changes in Dynasty mode. When you start, you can choose to go be the head coach of whatever school you like, but the real challenge is taking on one of the new offensive or defensive coordinator slots and working your way up to running an entire team. Yes, this year you can be one of the assistant coaches and manage just one side of the ball for entire games. Do well, and the shot at a head coaching job might pop up.

The story also mentions some details about Online Dynasty mode, including confirmation that you will be able to simulate online dynasty games from your computer.

If you're a more visual person, IGN has also posted a video preview detailing these changes.

On a level beyond the additions themselves, the biggest change this year just seems to be the ability to customize the experience to your liking. The folks at EA Tiburon have been relatively rigid when it comes to customizing players, leagues and so forth, but the shackles seem to be coming off in both football games now.

More details should be released about this mode and the Road to Glory mode in the near future. The embargo for all media as it relates to these modes lifts on May 23.

That would be interesting but then make recruits be afraid to commit because you cant control your temper like in Bo Pelini's case haha. Hmm charisma rating.

I screamed of joy when I read that. Goodness gracious, is it July yet?

Even though CC was added more in depth then anyone expected. I still think they had time to had more stuff to dynasty while making RTG better also. If you think about it you could change HC job before for offline dynasty. So while it was a huge feature I still think they had time to work on other things.

I've always wanted to do a indeep custom school dynasty and can never do it bc my UGA dynasty. This year might auctally be the year I do it. I can start off as a OC for one of the teams and then work my way up to HC to a team in the conf. I assume I can sim the def side of things that will make the game go by faster. This could be even better if they make team builder more in depth.

Also I think I'm gonna wanna do a RTG as it will be more in depth so I can convert him to Madden. Dang I'm not gonna have time for all of this.

This is amazing! I'm stoked for this game!

Also, not sure if this has been mentioned (to answer some people's questions) since I didn't wanna read through all 31 pages, but didn't one of the articles about this say you can change conference alignments after each season? Pretty sure it did.

Don't lie GMSS, your coach's first time getting mad will be at the kid for not scrambling when the opportunity was present, even if he's been doing it all that game besides that one play.

I think we dropped the whole Jared thing because he decided to stop attacking people.

CC is a great feature but what really sold it was the goals. They seem a lot more indepth than the previous editions which year in and year out were pretty similar.

- Finish so and so
- Beat rival
- Beat a certain prestiege team

I saw one for getting three interceptions and so on, more specific and varied goals go along way.

Some thing's I'd like to see would be,

How fast is progression
Is prestige accumulative or is it locked?
If your a HC do you hire your AC's and do their ratings have any impact on the game?

I also want to find out about recruits and progression.

Hopefully either in general ratings are nerfed so recruits fall more in line with current player ratings or will recruit ratings be brought up.

Will progression done better so that stats have more of an impact.

Something I wouldn't have a problem with is if Freshman come in with a really low awareness rating and by learning the system and not playing freshman year, they learn the system and it allows them to progress their awareness, where as if they played, their physical stats (not neccessarily speed, but things like THP and THA, or Tackle) would jump up.

Will conference reallocation be done automatically or will it have to be done manually? (I'll live with manually)

Will injuries that result in a week or more actually get some form of cutscene or something that is shown other than you noticing your player missing and a late mention that can easily be missed.

Commentary changes? (I've decided I'll live another year of listening to music since they seem to be buffing up dynasty mode)

Heisman presentation? Not a huge deal but would be somewhat cool

Injury redshirts?

How much effect will the coaches have in game?

Will fields/patches update properly when conferences are moved

Can you edit bowl tie ins in dynasty? (i.e. if the Big East continues to suck and the MWC keeps improving, maybe be able to switch it later on so the BE isn't an AQ conference.)

Proper dynamic crowds and crowd noise?

I have more but this is what I can think about at the moment. Like I said before, I went from skipping this to potentially picking this up at midnight. Custom playbooks aren't a huge deal right now but I'm sure I'll mess with it eventually.

I am hoping come May 23, they release the info of...

- Coach ratings
- DC/OC can only recruit that side of the ball
- Coaches take their schemes with them
- Coaches take their staffs sometimes with them
- Players will transfer with a coach on occasion
- Players won't like a coach who has had 5 jobs in 15 years
- A 4-3 LB will not want to play for a 3-4 DC unless he is really prestigious

Those are just some basics I want to see. Those would take CC to a new level better than 2k8.

I'm going to disagree. I wanted to start a thread about this but I'll just quote your post and get feed back. As some players progress too slow or not enough some players progress too fast IMO. When you get the game there are no 99 rated players but by time it's over there are about 20 on any given team. I think progressions should be 4 parts. Player Potential, Playing Time, Production and Coaching and should be assigned random weights. Some players get better being on the field and others a red shirt year benefits them more. I also think 95 ratings should be preserved for the truly great.

1:27 mark in the video, as he hovers over "Custom Conferences" it says "Move any school to any conference, rename divisions, tweak scheduling rules, and much more! Additional changes can be made after each season."

Thats the first thing I was thinking. If coaches bring their personal style with them to new programs it would liven up the gameplay. No more dink and dunk AI hopefully.

Honest to God, if they put it in I would call myself an EA fanboy. But the thing is, I don't get how they don't want it in. It's the hot topic in college football right now. I mean, even when the season is going on, it's still the hottest topic. It would be sooooo easy to market. Say 'hey, everyone who wants a college football playoff, we've got it over here!'
With EA having an exclusive contract do you think the NCAA will let them put it in? This is a serious question not a rhetorical one.

This is going to be one of the best summer/fall for gaming in history.
We got NCAA 12, Madden 12, NBA 2k12, Batman Arkham city, Gears of war 3, COD MW3 and i am sure there is more. Cant wait

Exactly. After 15 seasons I would like to see teams in my conference(s) change their styles to make it feel more alive and not the same thing every season.

Good to see that the Dynasty devs (and Madden's franchise guy) get it. Waiting for the gameplay devs to catch up.

I don't see why they wouldn't. NCAA Gamebreaker 2000 let you play a season and then have a 16 team tournament to determine a champion.
