NCAA Football 12 News Post

IGN posted a story today detailing some of the additions to Dynasty mode in NCAA Football 12.

The biggest change seems to be the ability to create a coach and move up the coaching ranks. Many folks have been begging for a "coaching carousel" in this series, so this addition seems like it should make a lot of people happy.

Quote:
...EA and Tiburon have responded and given players the ability to create their own coaches from scratch. You can modify looks, set ages and even pick an alma mater. Save these changes, and you can share them with the world and every mode in your game.

That stuff might sound cosmetic, but it plays into the cool changes in Dynasty mode. When you start, you can choose to go be the head coach of whatever school you like, but the real challenge is taking on one of the new offensive or defensive coordinator slots and working your way up to running an entire team. Yes, this year you can be one of the assistant coaches and manage just one side of the ball for entire games. Do well, and the shot at a head coaching job might pop up.

The story also mentions some details about Online Dynasty mode, including confirmation that you will be able to simulate online dynasty games from your computer.

If you're a more visual person, IGN has also posted a video preview detailing these changes.

On a level beyond the additions themselves, the biggest change this year just seems to be the ability to customize the experience to your liking. The folks at EA Tiburon have been relatively rigid when it comes to customizing players, leagues and so forth, but the shackles seem to be coming off in both football games now.

More details should be released about this mode and the Road to Glory mode in the near future. The embargo for all media as it relates to these modes lifts on May 23.

That would be pretty sweet too. How many college coaches even wear a suit if any? It's not really something I think of when it comes to coach attire.

EDIT:IDK if the post before mines is answering this question because the post he responded too basically asked 2 questions in one sentence
Yes, to your question... the coaches bring the playbooks with them.

Wonder what happened to JoePa?

The options for custom conferences look fantastic. I've always wanted to create a more geographically accurate D-I for college football.

Can you renew contracts?

The screenshots show coaches with expired contracts but not fired or hired by a better school.

Maybe I just overlooked it.

Would be cool if the coaches had brand specific gear too.

I think in the video there was one of the very first HCs that had their contract ran out, but was resigned.

since we can change conferences ourselves every year maybe we don't get offers anymore?

Ok i have one more question? Who will determine what playbook is used? For example: Say a school hires the head coach from Oregon and the offensive coordinator from texas tech? My guess would be they would use the offensive coordinators playbook

since they actually added ages to coaches, I assume he retired or worse.

The video on the front page showed Oklahoma ST and Arkansas renewing the contracts of coaches that had their contracts expire.

Thanks, that is a pretty big addition. Not sure I would use the coaching carousal a whole lot myself, but having it for the CPU teams is great.

That is an excellent question. The coordinator would make sense, but maybe the head coach would have his own system though. It's hard to say.

I literally dropped my drink from excitement.

Bravo, EA. You've really outdone yourselves. I can't say another bad word about this game. Exceeded my expectations by a mile.

Wow. That's all I can say.

I already had this game pre-ordered because I'm an avid, loyal fan, but I feel really rewarded now.

I would think the option would lie with the HC.

Something not alot of people are talking about that is gonna be cool is when you start off as a OC/DC. Since you can now create your own playbook you can install your own offense and rise up the ranks with your own custom playbook.

I would guess that if the HC is offensive minded, the team would use his playbook for offense and the DC's playbook for defense. If he was defensive minded, it would reverse.
