NCAA Football 12 News Post

IGN posted a story today detailing some of the additions to Dynasty mode in NCAA Football 12.

The biggest change seems to be the ability to create a coach and move up the coaching ranks. Many folks have been begging for a "coaching carousel" in this series, so this addition seems like it should make a lot of people happy.

Quote:
...EA and Tiburon have responded and given players the ability to create their own coaches from scratch. You can modify looks, set ages and even pick an alma mater. Save these changes, and you can share them with the world and every mode in your game.

That stuff might sound cosmetic, but it plays into the cool changes in Dynasty mode. When you start, you can choose to go be the head coach of whatever school you like, but the real challenge is taking on one of the new offensive or defensive coordinator slots and working your way up to running an entire team. Yes, this year you can be one of the assistant coaches and manage just one side of the ball for entire games. Do well, and the shot at a head coaching job might pop up.

The story also mentions some details about Online Dynasty mode, including confirmation that you will be able to simulate online dynasty games from your computer.

If you're a more visual person, IGN has also posted a video preview detailing these changes.

On a level beyond the additions themselves, the biggest change this year just seems to be the ability to customize the experience to your liking. The folks at EA Tiburon have been relatively rigid when it comes to customizing players, leagues and so forth, but the shackles seem to be coming off in both football games now.

More details should be released about this mode and the Road to Glory mode in the near future. The embargo for all media as it relates to these modes lifts on May 23.

In most cases, but for example, at Florida would the game have chose to use Muschamps system(nonexistent because he was a DC), or Charlie Weis'? It seems to me like OC's system is more likely to be the one implemented unless maybe the former Head coach was an offensive coordinator.

I wish/hope EA 's Gameface technology can be used for you coach's model.

That would be realistic! you get fired then only get offers from the desperate schools or the 1-2* teams.

That's what I think as well. Although I could definitely see the OC playbook being used in this scenario also.

My question is lets say we start off as a OC then work our way up to HC, will we have to hire a OC or hire one and still run our plays?

If I get fired from somewhere like Oklahoma, I'd BETTER be getting better offers than from schools like FIU and Idaho. Especially if I have a high coach prestige.

Where's what I'm thinking:

When you're a head coach, you can use whatever playbook you want. For example: you have the option of using the PB from your new OC, your own custom PB, or any random PB. But the Coordinators have to have some reason to be there. So I'm thinking they help recruit certain types of players depending on their playbook and philosophy. So if you were a spread type HC, you wouldn't want to hire a power running game OC.

Just my two cents there.

Just thought of this, but what if Madden and NCAA both shared a link where you could transfer coaches from college to the pros such as a Charlie Weiss? That would be ****

All of this is awesome.

One question: When editing conferences, are all the changes made at the start of a new dynasty or can changes be made beforehand and imported into dynasty like rosters?

Wait...could I dissolve the remaining teams in the Big XII between the Pac 12, SEC, and oh say... C-USA, A new SWC or something like that? Have the Pac 12 be the Pac 16 and the SEC be a 16 team league... with no Big 12? Or even expand the Big 12 back to the Big 12, but adding in the old SWC teams, and moving the remaining teams to the Pac 12, SEC, C-USA, MWC, etc...???

If so... This is awesome! If not...Well I can still mod it around to be somewhat like I want...

Yeh it would be cool, I liked the idea some had over last summer with all the threat of the Big 12 maybe going to die. Having the PAC 16, Big 16 (Big Ten), SEC (16), and ACC (16). 4 super conferences and then having those four conference champions playing in a 4 team playoff. I doubt that playoff format will be available though.

is coaching gonna be the main part of dynasty mode now? i kind of liked how everything worked last year, i dont want to have to go from team to team just to get a Head Coaching Job

# 357 metallidevils @ 05/19/11 10:51 PM
I wonder if recruiting will have been completely overhauled. If the coaches have no stats other than Prestige, then in last year's game there was 1 recruiting category for prestige - and one category doesn't make all that much of a difference.

I doubt they overhauled recruiting. Coach Prestige was only one pitch you could use, and it was the only one related to the coach. Everything else had to deal with the university or its surroundings.

I'm only 5 paragraphs into IGN's coverage of the dynasty mode features and I've decided this is definitely a must buy for dynasty fans. FINALLY a coaching carousel! Finally you can start as an offensive or defensive coordinator. FINALLY some legitimately awesome news regarding dynasty mode that will be spectacular if implemented correctly. Well done NCAA team, I am now pumped for this game.

Before today I honestly didn't care about picking up the game right away, now I will be going at midnight to pick it up. Great news! I'm so excited I haven't even finished the article and I'm posting, so pumped!
