NCAA Football 12 News Post

IGN posted a story today detailing some of the additions to Dynasty mode in NCAA Football 12.

The biggest change seems to be the ability to create a coach and move up the coaching ranks. Many folks have been begging for a "coaching carousel" in this series, so this addition seems like it should make a lot of people happy.

Quote:
...EA and Tiburon have responded and given players the ability to create their own coaches from scratch. You can modify looks, set ages and even pick an alma mater. Save these changes, and you can share them with the world and every mode in your game.

That stuff might sound cosmetic, but it plays into the cool changes in Dynasty mode. When you start, you can choose to go be the head coach of whatever school you like, but the real challenge is taking on one of the new offensive or defensive coordinator slots and working your way up to running an entire team. Yes, this year you can be one of the assistant coaches and manage just one side of the ball for entire games. Do well, and the shot at a head coaching job might pop up.

The story also mentions some details about Online Dynasty mode, including confirmation that you will be able to simulate online dynasty games from your computer.

If you're a more visual person, IGN has also posted a video preview detailing these changes.

On a level beyond the additions themselves, the biggest change this year just seems to be the ability to customize the experience to your liking. The folks at EA Tiburon have been relatively rigid when it comes to customizing players, leagues and so forth, but the shackles seem to be coming off in both football games now.

More details should be released about this mode and the Road to Glory mode in the near future. The embargo for all media as it relates to these modes lifts on May 23.

So if you were a spread type HC, you wouldn't want to hire a power running game OC.

Just my two cents there.
I will be running a Power Running type of Playbook. So I def. will not sign a spread type OC. So I think you are right. But unless they have some sort of Morale of OC, I dont think they will want to leave.
I will already have a Defensive playbook created. But I might just run the DCs playbook that is similar to mine and sometimes run mine.

I think you can still edit the DC's playbook

Well, after reading, I can't totally dissolve the Big 12, but I can dwindle them down to make a couple super conferences... Or just import TB schools to have some other kind of conference... Texas Division and Northern Divisions... I better start planning this one out...

Yes, which makes prestige fairly insignificant. What is going to be the advantage of an A prestige coach over a D+ prestige, if the only place it comes up is 10% of recruiting pitches?

Besides them possibly getting better recruits, then nothing. I already argued this earlier. Without ratings, this is almost pointless right now.

Speaking of Teambuilder, I wonder if the limit is still 12.

Way too many posts here for me to read everything right now but I'm wondering if conference prestige still can't be changed? Only thing I didn't really see. If I want my conference to have A+ prestige, will I have to put my team into what is currently the SEC? And then conference prestige will not change? Even if I move all SEC or Big Ten teams into the MAC or something?

Yeah I will just change his playbook to mines.
It will be fun to see my former OCs and DCs with my custom playbooks as HCs. I will definitely face them

I hope they've bumped it up a little bit to where we could have maybe 130 teams... Can't that fit??? I don't really know all the numbers, I'm a player not a programmer...

I LOVE the idea here, but if I have to drop teams... Bye bye Akron, Buffalo, WKU, and other cellar dwellers...

Assuming they fixed zone coverages and toned down the CPU pass rush on play-action from NCAA 11, off the top of my head, these are the fixes/changes I'd like to see in NCAA 12:

1. User stats. Why they took this out from previous iterations is beyond me.

2. Historical stats. Would be cool to see year by year records of all teams and yearly bowl results within your dynasty.

3. Field degradation. I believe there was slight degradation in 11. Would be great to see grass field get chewed up even more and turn in quagmires in heavy rain.

4. Better-looking crowd. That was the one eyesore in 11. But I wouldn't want it at the expense of graphics.

5. More alternates/throwbacks: I loved the selection in 11. Let's thrown in a bunch more, and whatever you do, don't take any out.

6. Better return game. Kickoffs and punts were too difficult to take back. At least have a slider for this.

7. Penalty sliders that actually work. There were too few penalties, except for clipping, facemask and I think holding.

8. More frequent kick and punt blocks. I don't recall having experienced any in more than 100 games played. Also PATs were far too automatic.

9. More mascots. I'm a mascot slappy and liked the additions they made in 11. Now, put in even more.

10. Stadium-specific fans. They had it in last-gen. Jokers with corn heads in Nebraska, gator heads in Florida, hog heads in Arkansas. The more, the merrier.

Didn't coaching style used to be a pitch? Maybe they have brought that back as a way to help recruiting logic.

I asked this earlier, but it got buried in the pages...for those that have knowledge of OC and DC for each team, are those in the screenshots real coaches or just randomly generated names for them?

Random names. I think i saw where you could share coaches like you can share rosters.

A coach share to go along with roster share? Very nice. Really looking forward to see how this all plays out. I really hope playbooks carry over with the coaches as they change teams and teams recruit to their play style. That would pretty much be icing on the cake.

This is really excellent. I am impressed they've gotten all these changes in. Compared to previous years I wonder if they ever actually did work before.

I'm still wondering about more details, though. How will Teambuilder tie into all of these changes? Can you import as many teams as you like? Can I alter my conference after a season or more? Does this also mean we don't have to replace a school anymore to import a team?

I hated using my teambuilder team in dynasty and a) having to remove a school and b) getting locked into a conference. I would typically choose independent for various reasons, hoping another conference would send my school an invite once I built up the program. Of course that never happened. Does this mean now that even if invites aren't in, I am no longer locked into being independent and can move around conferences?

I'm very excited to hear more about these features! Dynasty improvements are really what I was waiting to hear for!

I wonder if Fairdale will also do the real coaches now too..
