NCAA Football 12 News Post

IGN posted a story today detailing some of the additions to Dynasty mode in NCAA Football 12.

The biggest change seems to be the ability to create a coach and move up the coaching ranks. Many folks have been begging for a "coaching carousel" in this series, so this addition seems like it should make a lot of people happy.

Quote:
...EA and Tiburon have responded and given players the ability to create their own coaches from scratch. You can modify looks, set ages and even pick an alma mater. Save these changes, and you can share them with the world and every mode in your game.

That stuff might sound cosmetic, but it plays into the cool changes in Dynasty mode. When you start, you can choose to go be the head coach of whatever school you like, but the real challenge is taking on one of the new offensive or defensive coordinator slots and working your way up to running an entire team. Yes, this year you can be one of the assistant coaches and manage just one side of the ball for entire games. Do well, and the shot at a head coaching job might pop up.

The story also mentions some details about Online Dynasty mode, including confirmation that you will be able to simulate online dynasty games from your computer.

If you're a more visual person, IGN has also posted a video preview detailing these changes.

On a level beyond the additions themselves, the biggest change this year just seems to be the ability to customize the experience to your liking. The folks at EA Tiburon have been relatively rigid when it comes to customizing players, leagues and so forth, but the shackles seem to be coming off in both football games now.

More details should be released about this mode and the Road to Glory mode in the near future. The embargo for all media as it relates to these modes lifts on May 23.

IMHO, no. I, personally, have been burned too often. These features in NCAA and Madden sound great, and the articles and videos add to their allure. However, every year we seem to get excited about a new feature, and once people unwrap the games and play them, the games fail to live up to the hype.

That said, there are always people who feed the negativity. I mean, we see it in this thread already. People have just found out that we have the capability to begin our dynasties as coordinators. It's a brand new feature, and yet even on the first page of this thread people are expecting more. In that sense, EA - or most game developers - cannot win for losing.

Four or five years ago, I might've already placed my order for each game. But more responsibilities at home, restricted funds and poor product development in the past mean I'm going to wait and see reviews and rent them before I commit to them.

That's just my 2 cents.

This is a game we're talking about. As long as he's doing this for his offline enjoyment and not trying to cheese people online, what do you care what he does?

This is going to be the best NCAA12 ever! I pretty sure there was a college football game back in the day that u could do the whole coordinator thing but it was messed up real bad, anyone remember the name of that one it was ncaa playmakers or some crap like that. Just hope it doesnt turn out like that.

This will be the only NCAA 12 ever.

So just to confirm... in OD if I start out as a team like Troy and build my way up to Alabama. Then the next season I start stinking it up, will I be fired?

Looks pretty good, I hope the bugs have been ironed out and it's well-implemented. I'll wait for 2 weeks before deciding as usual.

Cautiously optimistic.

Probably not the next season, but it looks like there are 3 year contracts, so if you aren't performing well the team will likely not renew your contract. You may get fired earlier than that though. I'm assuming this will all be detailed more in the blog on Monday

Maybe there will be a difficulty setting for this.

I am hoping it is as realistic of Choops. If I go 10-2 in one season at Troy, I don't want to be offered the job at Miami. In 2k8 I am in my 7th season at Chattanooga with over 20 wins the last 4 seasons each and I still only get a select few mid major offers a year.

I want it to be challenging like that. It should take years to actually get to the dream schools. Also, I don't want to get fired after one bad season, but after maybe 2-3 in a row.

Depends, did you beat Auburn?

fully agree
I want it to be challenging and rewarding. I dont even want to get a job offer after my first season as a OC. I dont even think alot of people will have a high record until they become a HC or recruit players to fit scheme. Because if you start with a bad team and even if you are great OC, the defense might cause somes Ls. I am perfectly fine with that

Wait, so can I create a coordinator and do a regular dynasty at the same time right? Like can I start up a regular Mizzou dynasty, but also make a coordinator to start out at a lower school and work his way up in that same dynasty?

You might be able to since you can already control up to 12 teams now. I don't know why they would change it.

It looks like I'll be purchasing NCAA Football for the first time since 08 on the PS2. All of these features are incredible, something that may actually be able to hold a candle to CH2k8.

Also, did anyone else crack up at the line in the video "Sure, playing with yourself is great, we've all done it from time to time..."?
