NCAA Football 12 News Post

IGN posted a story today detailing some of the additions to Dynasty mode in NCAA Football 12.

The biggest change seems to be the ability to create a coach and move up the coaching ranks. Many folks have been begging for a "coaching carousel" in this series, so this addition seems like it should make a lot of people happy.

Quote:
...EA and Tiburon have responded and given players the ability to create their own coaches from scratch. You can modify looks, set ages and even pick an alma mater. Save these changes, and you can share them with the world and every mode in your game.

That stuff might sound cosmetic, but it plays into the cool changes in Dynasty mode. When you start, you can choose to go be the head coach of whatever school you like, but the real challenge is taking on one of the new offensive or defensive coordinator slots and working your way up to running an entire team. Yes, this year you can be one of the assistant coaches and manage just one side of the ball for entire games. Do well, and the shot at a head coaching job might pop up.

The story also mentions some details about Online Dynasty mode, including confirmation that you will be able to simulate online dynasty games from your computer.

If you're a more visual person, IGN has also posted a video preview detailing these changes.

On a level beyond the additions themselves, the biggest change this year just seems to be the ability to customize the experience to your liking. The folks at EA Tiburon have been relatively rigid when it comes to customizing players, leagues and so forth, but the shackles seem to be coming off in both football games now.

More details should be released about this mode and the Road to Glory mode in the near future. The embargo for all media as it relates to these modes lifts on May 23.

Learn to win games the real way instead of giving yourself 99 speed linemen.

His comment of "if we were at a college football game we wouldn't even be finished with the tailgating" leads me to believe the last feature from the leaked survey two years ago is getting in...which is AD mode w/ stadium builder. If that's in, they have created the single-best version of NCAA since last generations NCAA 06 with Dez on the cover.

Yeah and thanks for clarifying why you care what people do in their offline dynasties when you've been asked a few times now but just choose to keep the trollface going.

Ok.

Well, I guess in responsible hands it would be helpful to avoid having to restart a dynasty due to roster changes and rating differences (say a guy comes out of nowhere and rushes for 2000 yards or whatever). Ok I GET THAT, my bad.

But, in fairness, I am sure even you could admit that in an online dynasty this could be a complete unfair and exploited feature

Why are you acting like this? What is wrong with wanting to edit a player mid franchise? If one guy wants to edit his players in an offline franchise, then why do you care?

Ok, shame on me for voicing an unpopular opinion. Let's put away the pitchforks and move on fellas. I am just one guy on a computer, bigger things to worry about. MY BAD

I'm really curious to find out more about CC....will players transfer if their coach leaves ala Choops? Will there be "destination jobs" or will coaches be more likely to leave for their alma mater, etc.? Will coaches take their staffs with them when they leave? Stuff like that.

Hopefully we don't see stuff like Les Miles getting fired and someone like Nick Saban taking over for him or something like that. I don't believe that'll be the case however.

Thank you, that's the point. If some kid wants to crank up his entire team to 99 overalls, fine. Who cares since it's his offline dynasty? The point is, most of us here are looking for the most realistic experience possible. Not being able to edit ratings to avoid certain issues with the game (QBs not scrambling, kickers being terrible, etc) doesn't help that cause.

In an Online Dynasty, sure there would definitely need to be a lock on it or something, but we were talking about offline in the first place.

This is a great point. Considering we see the CPU make really weird choices as it is with recruiting and roster control who knows what it could do with the coaching carousel. I'd imagine it would go pretty strictly by the goals of the contract or whatever, ya know?

I laughed out loud at that and the Kansas Lamehawks line. That dude should be working for TV.

Isn't the guy who is narrating the video the same guy who played as Mizzou in the IGN vid last week?

I have what might sound like a stupid question, but with the addition of OC/DC, you can still play both sides as the ball right?

If you're the head coach, how will your OC/DC's effect your team?

Obviously no one arguing for this is doing so they can join an online dynasty and give "their lineman 99 speed." LOL But it would give us just another added level of customization and realism that EA has implemented themselves yet.
Yeah I get what you are saying. In the right hands that could be a pretty fun and interactive change of pace. Personally I feel the players progress rather well in dynasty rating wise but I definitely think the height/weight stuff needs work...

According to the video, if you the OC, you play on offense only. IF you the DC, you play on defense only.

He is totally missing the point on why they added this, it is for the user to easily correct a glitch in the Matrix. For Example, Punter and Kicker Recruits in NCAA 11 had literally no Accuracy or power, the ability to pump up their numbers would have created a more realistic game. If for some reason a Problem occurs with new recruits attributes, we can easily alter the game for a more enjoyable experience.

This feature will allow some users to create Superstar teams (but lets be realistic, how many of those users will actually play for more than a few seasons), this is for the users who play Multiple seasons. If you dont like it, dont touch it.
