NCAA Football 12 News Post

IGN posted a story today detailing some of the additions to Dynasty mode in NCAA Football 12.

The biggest change seems to be the ability to create a coach and move up the coaching ranks. Many folks have been begging for a "coaching carousel" in this series, so this addition seems like it should make a lot of people happy.

Quote:
...EA and Tiburon have responded and given players the ability to create their own coaches from scratch. You can modify looks, set ages and even pick an alma mater. Save these changes, and you can share them with the world and every mode in your game.

That stuff might sound cosmetic, but it plays into the cool changes in Dynasty mode. When you start, you can choose to go be the head coach of whatever school you like, but the real challenge is taking on one of the new offensive or defensive coordinator slots and working your way up to running an entire team. Yes, this year you can be one of the assistant coaches and manage just one side of the ball for entire games. Do well, and the shot at a head coaching job might pop up.

The story also mentions some details about Online Dynasty mode, including confirmation that you will be able to simulate online dynasty games from your computer.

If you're a more visual person, IGN has also posted a video preview detailing these changes.

On a level beyond the additions themselves, the biggest change this year just seems to be the ability to customize the experience to your liking. The folks at EA Tiburon have been relatively rigid when it comes to customizing players, leagues and so forth, but the shackles seem to be coming off in both football games now.

More details should be released about this mode and the Road to Glory mode in the near future. The embargo for all media as it relates to these modes lifts on May 23.

To follow up on that, while at first, for a brief moment I felt a little negative about that, but the more I thought about, the more I realize just how awesome that is (at least for me). I mean if you think about it, this is about you actually being a specific coach of the team. If you're the OC, you run the offense, if you're the DC, you run the defense, HC, you have influence over all. That enhances the immersion for me greatly. Its gonna be awesome to be a coordinator and have the team depend on you to ensure your unit executes, while you have to depend on the other units hold up their ends.

For me, thats is freakin' awesome. I'm personally gonna love being down 3+ points late in the 4th and biting my nails hoping the D gets a stop, then "putting on my headset" and saying "lets do this" when team is now putting their hopes in us to put points on the board. Or calling that HB pass in overtime that fools the D and puts us up, leaving me to watch and wait for the defense to get a stop and put the game away..

...all the while fantasizing about stepping up into big daddy's shoes on the sidelines at my alma mater at the end of the season! Bring it on! I am pumped!

I agree with the IGN writer that often with the NCAA series I felt I could skip an NCAA release because of the lack of new features, however, this year is a must buy from reading the recent NCAA 12 information. This is definitely the biggest year to year leap in terms of additions and refinements in the history of the NCAA franchise. I attribute the recent wholesale feature additions and gameplay refinements of Madden and NCAA to NBA 2k11. They set a precedent for what could be done in a year in terms of taking a solid sport gaming franchise and turning it into a legendary sport gaming franchise.

The scary thing is that the IGN writer said that we are not even done tailgating in terms of learning new information about NCAA 12 and that is the good news. One thing I would really like to see mentioned or included in the remaining information for NCAA 12 is about stat tracking in NCAA. I know they have records and what not, but more historical stats would greatly increase the immersion factor for the user.

Yeah, I want to see coaches go all Bob Knight and Mike Ditka on players for messing up. Slamming down head sets, clipboards, kicking gatorade buckets.

Yanking QBs for throwing 3 interceptions in one quarter.

I think they only really had OC/DC, I dont think they actually shown them. I am not sure didnt really play M10 or M11 that much to notice.
I would be great to see me(OC) on the sidelines next to the coach

In that video he says, as a coordinator, you can call the play and then choose to watch it or play it out, correct?

You are correct. Madden 11 had OC, DC, and STC but none of them were ever seen on gameday and they had little to no impact on your team.

Yeah, especially since QB wont be top priority.
QB, " I didnt see him, give me another chance coach"
Me(OC), " I dont want to hear it, You said that the first 3 times, Get on the bench"

pardon me, I had to laugh at that. EA sucks, remember?

I was the same way. This is big news and brought me back in. Hopefully, we keep hearing about more new and awesome features.

I think so. I think they will incorporate the "Coach mode" feature into it and the ability to call and play games.
Can you Sim and call plays like in Online Dynasty in Dynasty. I usually sim the first season, so I can focus on recruting plays who can fit my scheme.

Depending on what else is annoucned on Monday and future RTG news,
I wouldnt care if it was storming heavily, low visibility, and I forgot my coat, I will stand hours for the midnight release for NCAA 12. I am dead serious

# 254 The JareBear @ 05/19/11 05:22 PM
I really don't know what to say man.

I mean, I was already super pumped for this game, was already planning on going to WalMart at midnight for the release just like last year, but this news is great. NCAA 11 is good enough to where I still play it to this day, I can't imagine how much more into NCAA 12 I will be with all these improvements.

I think EA is doing a really good job. I still think the post routes look too easy in the vids I have seen so far, but everything else looks GREAT

I don't see why they can't include a playoff mode now. If you can customize conferences by increasing or decreasing their size at will, change bowl tie ins, and completely reorganize and edit every aspect of how the DI college football is organized then to me it logically follows that you should be able to decide whether or not you want a playoff to decide the national champion. I really hope this editing and realignment feature can be triggered at any point during a dynasty.

A playoff mode for online dynasty would be in-sane. That.....would be heaven

I think that NC State ranked #24 just sold it for me...

Yeah, Custom Playbooks had me sold anyway. This news has me thinking I might not buy Madden until after week or two after release because of the overhaul. I dont even want to play NCAA 11 because of the improvements to NCAA 12.
Why cant July 12 just come already?

# 259 chen_sc @ 05/19/11 05:37 PM
out of town scores during games and that game is almost perfect!

# 260 RamblinWreck21 @ 05/19/11 05:37 PM
Add a play-off mode and the option to add 120 teambuilder teams in dynasty at once, and I will NEVER complain again.
