NCAA Football 12 News Post

IGN posted a story today detailing some of the additions to Dynasty mode in NCAA Football 12.

The biggest change seems to be the ability to create a coach and move up the coaching ranks. Many folks have been begging for a "coaching carousel" in this series, so this addition seems like it should make a lot of people happy.

Quote:
...EA and Tiburon have responded and given players the ability to create their own coaches from scratch. You can modify looks, set ages and even pick an alma mater. Save these changes, and you can share them with the world and every mode in your game.

That stuff might sound cosmetic, but it plays into the cool changes in Dynasty mode. When you start, you can choose to go be the head coach of whatever school you like, but the real challenge is taking on one of the new offensive or defensive coordinator slots and working your way up to running an entire team. Yes, this year you can be one of the assistant coaches and manage just one side of the ball for entire games. Do well, and the shot at a head coaching job might pop up.

The story also mentions some details about Online Dynasty mode, including confirmation that you will be able to simulate online dynasty games from your computer.

If you're a more visual person, IGN has also posted a video preview detailing these changes.

On a level beyond the additions themselves, the biggest change this year just seems to be the ability to customize the experience to your liking. The folks at EA Tiburon have been relatively rigid when it comes to customizing players, leagues and so forth, but the shackles seem to be coming off in both football games now.

More details should be released about this mode and the Road to Glory mode in the near future. The embargo for all media as it relates to these modes lifts on May 23.

But, even if it's in the wrong hands in an offline dynasty why do you care?

Guess I'll be going the normal route of head coach then. OC and DC is a great add on, something that I'll proably get into more as I play the game.

Hopefully the OC/DC's aren't like Madden 11's coaches with little bonuses that don't do much, if you're a head coach. Although it would be kind of cool to see your OC or DC leave to be a head coach after a good year.

So any idea on how recruiting will work as a coordinator? It sounds like it could be really cool. Since you're only focused on one side of the ball I wonder if you'll be able to see more ratings for a player, or sell them on how they'd fit in your scheme in detail, etc.

NCAA 12 is approaching NCAA 06 status

This is possibly the best news I've ever heard for any video game, ever. Madden delivers a huge jab the other day, now its NCAA with a an upper cut. All I need is a job to buy them both lol.

They change on the field, not sure about unis for 12.

This feature will allow some users to create Superstar teams (but lets be realistic, how many of those users will actually play for more than a few seasons), this is for the users who play Multiple seasons. If you dont like it, dont touch it.
Exactly. Unless you get a 3 Star Kicker or better, the kicker/punter doesnt come out with decent kicking ratings

I guess I don't. Shouldn't have said anything to begin with. Lesson learned.

I played about 7 seasons and I never had a created punter or kicker higher than a 55. It was def. a problem.

What's up at Tiburon this year? Wow both Madden and NCAA are really stepping their game up. I wonder if in the next console generation people will be saying why can't the current football games be like NCAA and Madden 12?

Man this all sounds amazing. Building a shut down defense as a DC and them turning it into a future job sounds like tons of fun.

Pretty sure I admitted I was wrong?

Exactly, well said and good post, will read again.

I don't want to give my team a rating's bump as much as I would want to give the computer's team for one reason or another. Plus, as other's have said if someone doesn't want to use it then they don't have to. User options is always the best way to go in my opinion and again I'm not sure why anyone else would give to craps what I do in my own offline dynasty

Did y'all really skip past the mod saying, okay let's move along? It's over, he gets it, now let's go back to celebrating and hoping EA does have ratings for O and D.

I must say, this is the most excited I've been for NCAA in a few years. It has always been my #1 wish to be able to start off as a coordinator and work my way up. I was 50-50 on whether they'd even have a coaching carousel in it this year, but if they did, I figured it would just be head coaches and nothing else. This is great news.

My Question is will they show the OC or DC in cutscenes, if we start out as one in Dynasty. I would love to see me talking to the QB or RB or Yelling at the OLine for messing up.

# 238 Reggie16 @ 05/19/11 05:07 PM
Im interested to see how regular dynasty changes when your a OC or DC. Will there be any restrictions on recruiting or anything? im anxious to see what is in store. Keep it up EA

Correct me if I am wrong, haven't they shown this kind of stuff in Madden? I know it is different teams, but I would like to think they would have some of the similar "in-game presentation" type stuff.
