Hmm, so how do you get the "walking" animation then? The one where the ballhandler slowly dribbles sideways.

# 502 UTAllTheWay @ 03/18/11 09:22 PM
Just move the left analog stick slightly toward the ball hand.

should you move the LS in the full direction when doing the iso moves?

on 360 i just pull RT + LT at the same time and the dribbler will protect the ball and move

What exactly are the benefits of changing from a dunk to a layup in mid air in this game?

What are the benefits of using shot branching?

These are two things I've never really tried to doing in this game and I want to know if it's something I should add to my repertoire because I'm about to get into an online league with 13 other friends.

Also, how exactly do I do the half-spin, because I swear I do exactly what it says on the first page and it just does a regular spin move for me.

If I'm dribbling right, I move the stick right and then down and around to the left and then back to the right again but it just does a spin move.

If you're still doing a full spin then you're taking the stick around too far.

Try to think of it like this: Dribbling right, as in your example, rotate the stick from 3 o'clock to 7 o'clock, then back to 3 o'clock. Do this in a slower, rhythmic, motion.

The above is what helped me learn the half-spin and now I can execute it typically on 8 out of 10 attempts. My problem originally was I was trying to rotate the stick too far, to 9 o'clock, and doing the motion to quickly, resulting in the full spin. However the method I previously mentioned works like a charm for me. Hopefully it'll help you as well.

i would say honestly that since ur playing online u wont need it because on default you will complete the dunk 99 times out of 100 unless they are going to lower dunks in traffic to 0 and lower dunk success.

Doing the speed drill is what really helped me get all the iso stuff down.

Me too. I still cant do a half-spin. I've tried many different techniques and I'm still struggling.

I'd recommend not going as far over for the half-spin. If you're trying to do it and end up doing a regular spin then that is likely your problem.

I can do it in the practice mode but I'm not good enough with the stick yet to make it work against defense.

I just got the game a few days ago. Does anybody have any tips for finishing at the basket? I've learned how to get by the defender pretty effectively with Rondo but have trouble not getting blocked at the rim. I read about the flick flick moves and those are helping (though I tend to start them too early sometimes).

this game has too much suction to it. i can get by people, but they always get back into position due to the suction. and when they're behind you, it's like they're tethered to your waist, making you run slower. they need to get rid of this suction crap for 2k12.

# 515 aerohitman @ 04/12/11 09:53 PM
Try some sliders?

# 516 aerohitman @ 04/12/11 09:53 PM
FLick Flick???? And maybe a Euro step or his signature fake move? or just give it up to the open guy once the help comes...if he's actually doing what he should...stupid AI

Weird. If I concentrate (and I only do that in practice drills ^^) it's working for me. But the half-spin is one of the hardest and most pesky moves I think. I never think about using it within a running game, would just fail too often.

# 518 Pared @ 04/14/11 02:34 PM
Half spin is actually pretty easy. Just do it in one back and forth motion - don't hesitate.

And you can get by players easily. Again, learn the system. Not sure what the problem is with all the suction non-sense being mentioned.

I can't find any video footage of it being done in 2k11, but this is what it looked like (except it was at the top of the paint).

First 6 seconds
FYI I never found the video, but after tinkering around I think it involved somehow going from being engaged to the post to doing a flick-flick move. I still have yet to recreate that exact move but it has opened up a new door of thinking after doing a pump fake from the post.

Are there any posts that help with the flick flick move? It doesn't seem to work 100% of the time, even if I'm near the basket.

If you play street fighter think hadoken in reverse, then a regular hadoken (if your guy is going up relative to the analog stick). Make sure you don't do up down or you'll just do a step back.

Also a good way to practice is doing dribble drills in My Player. Just start a new my player with a point guard and you'll have 10 drills to start with. It gives you a somewhat "under pressure" environment to perform in, versus by yourself in freestyle practice mode.
