NBA Elite 11 News Post

NBA ELITE 11 is back with the first of two gameplay videos featuring 5 on 5 action. This video is a user vs. user matchup with NBA ELITE Gameplay Producer Novell Thomas taking on NBA Community Manager Yaw Obiri-Yeboah (also known as blackflash83 on the forums) . The game is being played on a Pre-final build with some tuning left to do but it provides a good representation of how the game will play once you developed your skills with the new Hands-On control.

Be sure to check out some of the quick plays being called during half court offensive sequences (press X on the 360 to begin a quick play or the Square button on PS3) and the importance of playing the passing lanes as balls can get deflected. You have complete control this year in NBA ELITE 11.

Right and that was my complaint with the vid they weren't playing like your avg user would. To me they weren't even playing like the actual NBA teams they were playing as either.

But like I said the vid was more to show off pacing and quick plays. Hopefully today's video is a little more like a real user vs user game.

I really dont know what there reason was behind not driving to the whole a couple times but i think waiting on the d shows how the ai plays halfcourt d and they may have been trying to showcase that.

I would have like for them to run at least 2 or 3 fastbreaks to see how the ai reacts on both o and d

I don't expect much from Elite this year, but hopefully they continue to build on what they have in place.

If you look at the bulls and blazers gameplay and pause it at 1:24, you will see all three Refs. There one at the bottom, one near the scorer's table and one near the bulls mascot near the bench.

But anyways, my only issue with possibly picking up this game is like most others. If the team only focused on certain aspects of the game and left of untouched b/c of time restraints b/c implementing the RTP. The game should not be full price. I for one could care less about NBA Jam. What I'm paying for is Elite, not Elite featuring NBA Jam. In my eyes its just setting a bad precedent. Because if NBA Elite featuring NBA Jam =$65 then i want it like that every year. I think this goes back to a similiar model when Crackdown release w/ Halo 3 Betas. Microsoft wanted a game they published to sell units and what better way then attached it to a Brand already with a huge followings. All i'm saying is that after watching the video the gameplay looks a little flawed in some aspects. And maybe the developers feel like consumers need a insentive to purchase the game and justify a $65 price tag. All i'm saying is that after watching the video of them playing on build that will be similiar to the finish product, it just doesn't justify me paying full price. But I guess the price itself is not set in stone.

I for one dont really care about nba jam. I left that alone in like 95 or 96. Games have come to far with nex-gen consoles to want to pla nba jam. But hey its free or you get a discount on elite either way you look at it

So since the real MSG looks like crap, its okay the game looks the same? I'm not getting your logic.

# 371 NDIrish98 @ 09/02/10 04:35 PM
i haven't read it anywhere, nor has anyone mentioned it, but, where are the replays? or stat overlays? hopefully some of the upcoming videos will include these unless they just wanted to get this vid out there, but still, why even release a video that doesn't include what's all in the game?
one other thing i noticed a couple of times, but it seems like some of the passes are taking forever to get to the player. it's like they're being lobbed from player to player...anyone else notice that at all.

1. Graphics....look very out dated. EA most be going with the skinny theme this fall or something. Because Madden 11 had skinny player models and now Elite 11 has skinny player models. They have no definition what so ever.

2. Real time physics.....is yet to be seen. Don't look no different then Live 10 to me.

3. Animations, once again look like last year. But hey i will give it the benefit of the doubt because people will have to learn the controls to perform the more advanced moves and animations I suppose.

4. Commentary.......awful. Kind of lifeless to me. Sound like they all were recorded separately and then just pieced together in the editing room. They have no excitement in their voice at all.

I swear it looked like a game played on the PS2. But hey I will wait for the demo to drop for I can see what it do on my HDTV.
Totally agree with you on points 1, 3 and 4.

The animations have been bad for years, people have been complaining about it for years, but nothing is being done about it. This is 2010. Each year they overhaul something but they don't touch the animations. I don't get it.

People have been talking about the hunchback posture in Live games for years now and I must say that it didn't really bother me back then, but in this video it really is so obvious and it just looks bad. Also I absolutely dislike the camera view, but that can be adjusted.

On a positive note: the pace and gameflow are a lot better than what we saw in 23's videos.

About the controls: we'll have to try the demo to judge.

I dont know folks,

I have watched the video a few more times, and I just dont see the glaring negatives.

Honestly, the only thing that made me wince right away was the hop step. That has online exploit written all over it.

The rest of it, I really liked.

The pace and spacing is great.

Foot planting looks good.

The sound is excellent.

I'm assuming that they are playing on regular season atmosphere. That's pretty much what an NBA regular season game sounds like. The crowd isnt going bonkers from opening tip, to final buzzer.

The intensity builds.

The thing that EA does very very well, with their basketball games in recent years, is capture the sound and feel of what if feels like to be watching a game in a NBA arena. If you have ever watched a NBA game live, I think you'll know what I mean.

Im really looking forward to the control scheme, and what he can do manually, ball control and shot control wise, once we get the hang of it..

I also like the collision detection. That was one of my favorite things of Live 10, and to me, it looks at the very least, just as good in that regard.

I think what it boils down to, is that you are either going to like how EA does its player models, and how they animate, or not...and I can certainly understand the pros and cons of that debate.

The game looks good, to me. I'm looking forward to playing the demo.

I never said it look like crap, but according to the guy whose every word you agreed with, that's what he's saying. But I could hardly understand him with his lack of punctuations. So maybe I'm wrong. Ok enough being off topic. I just hope in today video there is User vs AI or AI vs AI. B/c we have yet to see that. Maybe if the AI plays realistically it would put out some of the fires. I just hope they fix the boxing out. You can see the AI doing but it was not effective at all. And that one pass that Jennings did one handed earlier in the game did not look good.

Nice post.

This game will definitely be purchased based on personal preference this year, not necessarily how the game looks/animates. The demo will be the deciding factor for me. But as of now, due to my personal preference, this won't be a first day buy for me.

I think this build may have been a little older then the one we saw at the event.
