NBA Elite 11 News Post

NBA ELITE 11 is back with the first of two gameplay videos featuring 5 on 5 action. This video is a user vs. user matchup with NBA ELITE Gameplay Producer Novell Thomas taking on NBA Community Manager Yaw Obiri-Yeboah (also known as blackflash83 on the forums) . The game is being played on a Pre-final build with some tuning left to do but it provides a good representation of how the game will play once you developed your skills with the new Hands-On control.

Be sure to check out some of the quick plays being called during half court offensive sequences (press X on the 360 to begin a quick play or the Square button on PS3) and the importance of playing the passing lanes as balls can get deflected. You have complete control this year in NBA ELITE 11.

Flat Commentary and token ESPN integration,Players still moving like hunchbacks 5 years into this generation,Loose Balls that still bounce like the ball is short a couple pounds of air,ZERO differentiation between players or teams

I will echo the sentiments of everyone else, this is not a 60 dollar release. An updated Live 10 was a day one purchase, this however, will not even be considered for purchase until this title has exhausted it's patch cycle for the year.

Here are my thoughts...

Watched a few more times, and honestly...I like it.

I think it boils down to a couple of things.

1) IF you didnt like Live 10, you arent going to see anything that will make you conisder giving '11 a shot.

2) If you liked Live 10, I think this game is going to play well, and be a lot of fun, once you get a hang of the control scheme. and learn how and when to do the things we are used to doing.

The commentary is a little blah...I'll concede that.

Even Mark Jackson's "Hands down, man down!" sounded stale.

On the court though, I like what I see from the spacing, playcalling layout, Amare's up and under, collision detection, etc.

Definitely getting the game.

I look at it like this. I'm a graduate student in a pretty tough, medical concentration right now. I really shouldn't be playing video games anyway.

But if I want to spend a little time outside of studying, would I want to play this on Day 1, just from looking at the gameplay that's been released so far?

The answer for me, unfortunately, is no. I think I can wait until maybe Thanksgiving, Christmas or maybe even later for this, BASED ON HOW IT LOOKS. Again, this obviously doesn't include my full opinion without the demo.

Other few thoughts about the video:
  • players don't animate realistically, this should be top priority next year
  • players who dribble assume an hunchbacked stance
  • For the first time in the series I've seen a decent up and under move

I can't say that I'm disappointed because that's what I expected Elite to be after these months' talks with the kind developers. Two things will stand out above all: RTP and hands-on controls, the rest will be mediocre, if this is a work in progress of a three year project.

You havent even played the game yet. So how do you knw most of the problems or gone? Its hurting my head reading oh the controls this and that cmon. So you telling me sum of you guys wld rather have. A game that controls well but have stale and boring gameplay? Oh and yes 65 bucks is alot for a game I don't seem to be worth it

Ea just needs to start from the ground up with new animations and graphic design. They would of been better off taking this year off and working in those areas before releasing the new Elite series.

Man, I was never going to buy elite, after watching the video, Im still not, and just to put this out there, iM not here to bash the game or anything.

But what the heck is the deal with EA sports and presentation? Man, they are bad at doing commentary and presentational elements. Its like zoolander couldn't turn left, EA can't do presentation.

Yes, they make the overlay look pretty at the bottom but i do not believe anything else that they have done is "broadcast quality". Its frustrating to watch.

As for the rest of the video, Im going to need more to really say if its bad or not, but I did feel inclined to talk on presentation cause I can assure you it wont be fixed or poilished from where it is in the video because it Vintage EA presentation. The other stuff will prob be better Ill assume.

Exactly. They need to just breakdown and put it on Live or PSN.

Wow 300+ posts and everyone hates it, IMO I think the game has a lot of positives, and what game doesn't have flaws that's what next years games are for and you know you ****** are going to wait all year for them to develop the new thing. I own both NBA Live 10 and 2k10 I find that I get different experiences out of both and more than likely I'll buy both again this year, commenting on the user vs user vid I liked the flow, the tempo was good and the new controls look intuitive, commentary was good, I'm sure they weren't going to reveal everything before a demo is available besides it's going to be a free, not like ur paying for it, I believe you did a great job EA those who follow the Live series will stick with you all the way

Rent the game, get the 1 time code, use code, then take game back ASAP. I have a buddy that works at Gamestop, so i get the 1 time codes free, and they use the game for display purposes.

You weren't here to bash it, so thought you would join the other 100 people on this thread saying your not going to buy it, cheers

Good points. This is what bugs me about some claiming the game has ESPN integration. It most certainly does not. They have the logo and an overlay wipe. Now some may say the presentation isn't that necessary, and there are good arguments for that, but what hurts even more is when you have the most popular brand in sporting news (ESPN) and you are using about 25% of its potential.

I would also say that the game does not have real time physics. Part of that would mean proper ball physics and just from this game's tipoff you can see how the ball movement is too rapid at time and not respecting the environment. Dribbling looks good, but other than that the shots and passes look very line-drive like.

There are so many subtle improvements I notice that get me excited everytime i see the vid. I really wish the devs would've attacked more because there were plenty of chances for penetration if they used the crossover better. Can't wait to get the demo...

Are you looking for a fight or something? I thought Id put it out there to save myself the 20 "So dont buy the game" posts after I said something negative, yet I also didn't want to come off as a troll or *****. I think I have the right o do that without being confronted by you.

I honestly liked the video. A definite upgrade over the Cali videos and nothing that would really turn me away from the game. They focused on controls this year so I'm going to have to wait on the demo for that. That's what I really want to try out, the feel of the game because that's what they have been selling us. Doesn't look as bad as every one is trying to make it out to be.
