Anyone have an issue with 2 player offline exhibition mode where one of the teams fielders don't get the fielding markers of where the ball is going to land? They're set to on and I even switched them off and switched them back but they still don't work. What's the deal?

I'm really enjoying it. Got the game Thursday. Figured out all the assorted menus and various details. Then started my franchise yesterday morning. Already have played six games. My only cheese is that I put my Son in the lineup, yeap 2nd basemen for the Cubbies. He got a HR on his first at bat! His power ratings are very low btw. Contact hitter, good speed and a great defenseman.

Messed around with custom sounds between games too. Holy freaking Cow! I set the Reds HR music to a air raid siren with zombie nation playing along. I was enjoying the other team get homers!

This game is started to annoy me quite a bit, it seems like there are a lot of little things that are adding up, things that weren't in 09.

My guys on the basepath get picked off all the time, pretty much at a rate of one per game. If the CPU attempts a pick off, I'm out. They never throw over and I get back safely (auto base running or manual - without taking a bigger lead). It's like the CPU randomly decides to kill one rally every game by picking me off. I know this is not a user issue in my case.

I've tried several slider sets so far and the hitting just does not have as good of a "feel" to it as 09 did. 09 finally got on the level of MVP and the old 2K games with cursor hitting (2K3-4) in terms of feel, where every time I swung the bat and made contact I could tell where the ball was going. In 09 I could finally I could tell when I crushed a pitch, I could tell when I just missed one, etc. That feeling isn't there in '10. I guess some posters are saying they tweaked hitting to make it harder but it just seems way more random again, like it did in 08 and before. I check the PCI chart after a swing and I'll get a meatball/normal timing on a 4-seamer right down the pipe, smack in the middle of my PCI and I'll pop it up to second. Then my PCI won't even be on the ball and I'll hit a home run. Why is this randomness back?

The fielding seems worse than last year. Auto-fielding or manual, way too many line drives just to right past my outfielders. They'll be right in line for the ball and not even make a play on it. Again, this happens way too often. It happened in past years but not that frequently.

This isn't even getting into all the franchise/roster issues. Getting pretty frustrated.

I'm just repeating a tip I read here at OS, but when taking a lead do it immediately after the pitcher begins to put himself in the set position. Also, if the pitcher makes a pickoff attempt, don't immediately take a lead....wait a pitch before taking another lead. I haven't been picked off since using this approach. If all else fails, turn down the CPU pickoff slider.

It's very noticeable my friend and i'm hoping they review this. Right now I'm playing mlb 2k10 because of how bad it is

have you played 09 to compare recently? I am in agreement with you on alot of this too. and i'm wondering if i want to try out mlb 09 just to compare side by side...

Unfortunately I sold 09 last Fall so I can't compare right now. But I was hooked on 09 last year and loved the hitting.

My games, on Veteran right now, are basically all carbon copies of each other at the plate. I'm patient as hell, usually have the CPU pitcher up near the century mark in the 6th inning, get a lot of hits but just rarely score. Way too many hits are a line drive to a fielder that get caught.

Perfect example was a game I just finished at Oakland. I lost 9-2. I left a million guys on base, I think I had 12 hits and five walks. One of my runs came on a solo HR by Tex and I had one GIDP, so other than that I left 15 of 17 men on base.

I'd get a rally going, then still have good at bats, but CONSTANTLY have innings end with back-to-back smoked line drives that are caught. It just happens way too often. I'm not swinging at bad pitches, I'm not making bad contact. It's just "bad luck" almost every game.

Ehh, I was in the exact same position as you with this game. I am telling you........ change the game to rookie my man and adjust the sliders to favor the CPU. This has saved the game for me.

I don't have a video game ego and have to play on G-d level to enjoy the game. Plus it helps me get adjusted with moving the left stick while hitting.

But as I am sure you already know those things can happen in baseball so when you say constantly I am not sure how many games in a row you are referring too?

I took the above advice and I am stealing more bases and my CS is lower. This really helps. Good luck

there is no need for an extra lead with your elite base thieves

# 311 dodgerblue @ 04/23/10 01:33 AM
Along with some of the other posters i am going to vent about the hitting.

Some games there are too many hits but hardly any runs. I played an extra inning game into the 18th; 3-3 up to that point but I had 18 hits! Also what is the deal with perfect timing on a meatball pitch and flying out to deep left center. It has happened two straight games with Matt Kemp. He is hitting less than .200 and 0 hr's, while Manny is hitting over .500 for me with 4 homers so far.

This shows me that your approach can be the same with each hitter in your lineup and one can be on fire while the other struggles. Obviously there is another process going on within the game determining the outcome of the at bats. I know this ads the sim element, but it can be very frustrating.

Also, seeing a little frame slowdown on some of the broadcast camera shots but not too bad.

The official roster isn't in the vault, but I would recommend Knights roster anyway. The official roster can be downloaded after you first sign on to sportsconnect.

I figure we have about a week. If we don't hear something from SCEA next week I don't expect a third patch.

# 317 JMar0824 @ 05/01/10 08:12 PM
1. has anybody brought up the fact that after 3 yrs in franchise mode the best players that have contracts expire never get signed to a team and remain a free agent and you can proceed through the next year and when free agency is available again and they arent considered type A's anymore you can sign them to whatever deal you want as cheap as you want bc nobody else will sign them bc no teams can afford them bc the young prospects coming up demand so much money that its pointless to play offseason stuff bc it gets so messed up... this issue needs to be addressed if it hasnt yet bc its a big deal...

2. the players dont have there real contract dollar amounts... this seems to be a real issue to me for a game that is so "real" its not even close to how these contracts are.

3. online play- when lookin for league theres 287 pages and the 1st page is all leagues made up 2 months ago and will be inactive. the first page should be the most recent, this will allow leagues to fill up with the most active teams bc they just recently joined it.

just my opinions.. want do you guys think?

Shoot, I've been holding out on a franchise this whole time assuming that'd the issues were to big not to have a patch. It would definitely be a let down if we didn't get one.

Well it's May 3rd. The devs have been off vacation for a month. How long does it take to patch a game? The started taking suggestions for MLB '11 immediately following the flawed second patch and we have heard nothing but silence regarding a third patch.

I think SCEA sees 30 team control as a big can of Raid for the bugs in franchise mode.

Kind of sad to think that they would not fix it or atleast let us know if there going to or if it is something that cant be done this year. Starting to feel a lot like a EA game.
I couldn't agree more. Its kinda sad. On one hand this isnt a horrible game but it feels like the game almost took a step backward this year. I play franchise exclusively after rosters drop and there is just so many problems with it I don't think I'm gonna be playing this game much this year.
