Does anybody know if the demo is in "quick mode" or not? I read in someone's post in another thread that it was.

Guys, After viewing more of the demo vids that are on you tube and here on OS, I'm really loving what I'm seeing now, I 99% sure that I will be buying this year, I buy every year, but I had my second thoughts until I saw a lot of the demo vids. I really think the game looks solid and looks like it's going to play really well this year.

There is just one thing, I clipped this pic from a video, and who the hell is this coach for Philly, he look to damn weird.

Probably just a visual glitch/hiccup in the game. I've seen Manuel a handful of times during camera cutaways and he looks pretty spot on (as does Girardi).

I don't like how, after stealing a base, your guy just stands there like a statue. They should have finished that animation.

This isn't the final stage of the game... Not all the animations are going to be in there just like not all the teams are available.

Loving the demo! Maybe 2K ball is at the level The Show was in 04...a good game, with a tonne of upside, but not quite there yet!
That being said..I loved Sony's baseball game that year, so things are looking up for 2K ball!

Also, this is a major improvement over last years game. The game last year wasn't even playable...this game is way better than last year. I don't even think that is debatable. Does it measure up to the The Show? No, it still has a long way to go...but I can safely say that based on my experience the demo, they're at least starting (after all these years) to make some progress.
I've struck out two CPU hitters last night looking. One was a breaking ball right over the plate.

7-8 demo games is not even 3 real life games. Also keep in mind the demo is 3 innings and has a fresh starter so we aren't getting into pitch counts, fatigue or middle relief.

What your saying is always right since the inning with themost amount of runs scored in a game is the first.

I have had htis problem though

I've hit a couple gapers that resulted in doubles. One was a roller that went all the way to the wall and while watching it roll, I remembered an earlier post here that said they had seen one roll to the wall and collision detection was bad because the fielders went berserk trying to get the ball, resulting in an IPHR. So, I was mindful to see if the same thing happened here but the RF played it well and I was still in standing up. That said, I will say that the OF seems to cover distances pretty well so may have to "slow them" down a bit with a slider.

I'm liking the hit varieties, bloopers and blasts alike. I had a nice triple hit against me that hit just inside the 3rd base line that I should have scooped up but misplayed and rolled past into the corner. I have not given up a HR yet, but have hit several, one of them a walk off HR. And yes, the bench met me at the plate.

Speaking of misplays, has anyone committed an error? I have not seen one called yet.

I've had 4 doubles in 3 games, all with the contact swing: 3 were down the line and one was a gapper.

Haved played a couple games so far and I am really liking what I see. Graphics are so much better, fielding is smoother, and the hitting and pitching is fun.

The only thing that I think can be improved is the speed of the game play. I haven't really seen any slowly hit ground balls and I feel like every thing is just too fast. Balls get to the fielders way too quick and everything is a screaming line drive (except for some high pop outs here and there). Im hoping that we can change it with sliders and slow down the fielders speed and stuff

I just made the decision to switch to classic hitting and it is way better, imo.

I hit 4 homeruns in a row to start the game with the Yankees, and was considering canceling my pre-order, until I switched to classic. Much better now.

Can you describe what classic hitting is? Does it have a cursor? Is there a power and contact separation in the control scheme?

If it's one-button swinging, even if it's influential left-stick control, I think that would be the best option (slight shades of 2K7, only they revamped the hitting model).

Blzer, I believe it's 2 button (Power & Contact) with Influential LS Control

Ah, gotcha.

I only hope that sliders can allow us to tweak it to one-button swinging like 2K5 could or The Show can, but if there is indeed that power/contact discrepancy that doesn't allow us to use the power swing with contact hitters regardless (like if makes them inferior hitters in general and not the same kind of hitter as normal), then this will be a problem.

Hopefully someone can double-check this 4-you as I'm going off the top of my head. I did see the option to switch to CLASSIC Hitting though

I actually made a comment about them being swing happy yesteday, but after putting some more time into it last night I figured out why I was still seeing that. I had pitched 3 of my first 4 games with Bastardo of the phillies, and he's not that good, and the cpu was very aggressive against him. Last night I pitched a game with Javier Vasquez, CC Sabathia, JA Happ, and then Bastardo again. In the games with Vasquez, Sabathia, and Happ the cpu was taking more pitches, I struck out some looking, and even walked a few. With the Bastardo game, the cpu was aggressive again. It seems like the cpu likes to be aggressive vs bad pitchers, and patient vs good ones. So I retract my statement that they're still "swing happy", it just happened to look that way because of who I had pitched with.

This is correct. I tinkered with it a little last night, and thought it was just OK. I never really gelled with stick hitting until playing this demo. The defensive swing is amazing, and I quickly ditched classic hitting for total control.

how often do you hit homeruns by using the regular contact swing and not power swing? thx
