Ciao.
Man I feel you on this... it seems as if every shot remotely close results in a forced contact animation. I don't get it.

i for one love the new contact animations...its no longer money, you have to actually use post moves to be effective...

Won't get any more concrete than that. Post some gameplay vids of both...

And by "I was told" you don't mean somebody from 2k told you that right? Please, I will give 2k credit for trying and generally being stand up guys, but just like any other game makers, i can think of some examples of when they said something that just wasn't consistent with my experience playing the game...

This is what I know for an absolute fact, because I lived it.

1. Bought game and played it. Every time any player got into the paint player was doubled. Game was borderline unplayable.

2. Downloaded Nogsters roster. Played game, double teaming was severely curtailed. Not perfect, but at least for me, much better than it was.

Honestly, posting something as juvenile as "I was told" gives me the impression that you are... I mean c'mon son... "I was told"? Really?

lol dude you obviously dont know who Pared is

Has the Drive-in Kick-out been reduced for Star Players (Wade, Lebron...) after the patch? Are they finishing strong more often?

And has the lead passing attempts by the CPU team be reduced or did the patch just modify it so that the cpu still attempts the same amount of lead passes to the paint but it just gets deflected more often now?

Thanks, just waiting for the PC version.

TURBO INCONSISTENCY

guys...i was playing as Detroit and there are times when turbo would not work! I had a fast break with Gordon and the turbo would not respond...the bar would go down but he retained the same speed!

any of you guys experience this?

I just have two quick questions (ps3 owner).

1. When guards or basically anyone drives and starts a layup or dunk, do they still change their mind (because it's being well defended) and throw a laser pinpoint pass behind their heads to someone wide open behind the arc? I understand 'drive and kick' i played college ball. This is just ridiculous though and is the thing I'm most frustrated with because if I try the same thing, no matter if I'm using CP3 or Eddy Curry, the pass always goes out of bounds.

2. Are the free throws fixed? The first one you have to release really early, the second one is accurate, but is later than the first one. I typically shoot 85% or higher on team free throws for a game. But this year if I'm using a team I'm unfamiliar with or haven't mastered then I'm lucky to go 60% because of the difference between the two.

Okay, now that I've had time to play a couple games I'll talk of my experience. Jumped right into a new Rockets Association 10 min quarters on allstar. Game 1 we got the Blazers.

The game played extremely slowly (as if we were all running through molasses). I'm also missing shots that I normally would have made pre-patch. I'm creating space and bricking, which is forcing me go to the paint (which is of course less effective with the new contact animations). Still, through all of this, I am still only down 6 at half.

I save the game, go shopping, come back and all of a sudden, the game plays MUCH faster (maybe it's in my head but I seriously doubt it). I still can't shoot to save my life and they end up blowing me out.

I go into practice mode and start putting up jumpers only to find out that all releases are (IMO) even more lightening quick. I'm putting up what look and feel like good shots only to see "Bad Release (Too Late)". I have to barely tap it to get Perfect Release (this is for McGrady and Ariza).

So I start a game against the Warriors and I end up losing by about 10. However, I shot and made a lot more jumpers. I was leading throughout the whole game but went ICE COLD in the 4th with my jumpers. Again... creating space, but bricking.

I think I may start over now that I'm getting a handle on shooting, but I don't know.

Off-topic, but is there a way to download individual roster releases from 2K manually? Right now I have living rosters on, but if I wanted to look for a roster, how would I do that?

Look in the 2K share menu Streets they have all of the official 2K rosters archived there.

His shot chart consisted of either a paint shot or a 3 with no midrange j's to speak of. With all the new paint contact animations he had a really tough time scoring inside. Cheesers are really pissed at this patch I bet. good job 2k!!!!
I agree. Post patch online is a whole lot better. I think they should still lower points in the paint just a little bit more.

NINJAK2 - Most people you play on ranked match plays like that... (either inside or 3s - no midrange game)

Overall, playing ranked matches online is a better experience. I can consistantly hit mid range jumpers now and make a good percentage from the three point line. What I really love is contacts inside the paint, no more crazy high percentage shots going in inside the paint. Also ally oops passes are getting deflected more.

Thank you 2K for making this patch a nightmare for cheesers who play online!

As for association, someone can correct me if I'm wrong: with an old association, you MAY encounter an issue with player ages. If you want a more reliable experience (fewer issues) start over. However, you can still use your old association.
thanx men, but how do u download the latest rosters??

You are probably right iReb about lowering paint shot success even more, but I like what they've done with the contact animations. One thing I've always wished they would bring back with more regularity is the ability to make people pick up their dribble from anywhere on the floor with good positional d. It seems like this can sometimes be done when people try to force the ball baseline. Any where else though it seems people can routinely drive into you repeatedly and suffer no consequence. Adding this dynamic would really take the game to another level and force people to play differently.

I'll take a developers word over some guy on the 'net who has nothing to do but complain on a message board.

Whether or not it was "curtailed," the roster did not fix the bug. It's a bug. I don't know how to explain the meaning of that to you any more clearly.

Believe what you will. Some people still believe Elvis is alive, and you can't talk them down from that ledge, either. Your comments obviously show you're beyond using reason at this point, and there's no reason to further the discussion.

I lost a my player game because of this. Down 5, with 57 seconds left, Tony Parker decides he doesnt want to do a layup and instead:
YES!. a game changing layup!

nevermind
http://community.2ksports.com/commun...mediaid=474247
http://community.2ksports.com/commun...mediaid=474248
too high. game over:
http://community.2ksports.com/commun...mediaid=474249

It's a bit better but still there quite a bit. In 30 minutes of game action, i'll see it on average of 3-4 times.. I've also seen more and more STUPID CPU alley oop attempts. The intended receiver doesnt even jump. thats how bad of a try it is, but the passer still throws it up there. Tony parker now does this atleast 8 times a game, connecting on maybe 2.. 6 guranteed TOs almost gurantees a loss for me.

Now onto some bizarre stuff occurring.

http://community.2ksports.com/commun...mediaid=474100
CPU teammate rjefferson drives, gets contact with brand, whistle blows, then stops his animation, stands up, and walks towards the FT line.

something cool.. KG showing emotion on an and1 dunk (it teleports him to the FT line where his voice continues to go off.( nice touch
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=64qdz1Jbbto

heres a situation that just appears so random. you make the contested crap but a nice drive is a miss

Original Video - More videos at TinyPic
(slightly modified sliders for user, when I did this dunk. 46-48 was my setting. nothing out of the realm)

im seeing this alot more now. I guess its great a foul is being called, but why not when somethign actually happens. I turned up the foul slider to 75 and 80 respectively (pareds settings) and I continue to see this on almost 30% of "fouls":

Original Video - More videos at TinyPic

Original Video - More videos at TinyPic

I swear sliders are breaking this game for me

now heres what i was talking about earlier.

normal foot planting going right
http://tinypic.com/player.php?v=1zpgok9&s=4

I see this randomly, mixed with the following below:
http://tinypic.com/player.php?v=2ytsol5&s=4

now going left.. same story:
the good:
http://tinypic.com/player.php?v=2qm0jr4&s=4
the questionable:
http://tinypic.com/player.php?v=28hl6vb&s=4
now is it based on the defenses animations too. where is the calculated foot planting?
I'm not sure which animation set I will get on any given play. It makes it hard to prepare for each series. One has foot planting. the other is like a rocket skate boost towards the hoop leaving the defender reaching. this happens with any player.

Can I go back to prepatch? It was never this bad.

# 500 Streets @ 11/08/09 01:29 PM
Well, I decided not to start over and to continue with my association. I had my first win post-patch!! 96-91.

Here were the key team stats:

Houston
41/80 FG (51%)
2/6 3PT (33%)
12/17 FT (70%)
20 AST
8 TO
4 FL
31 REB (4 OFF)
7 STL
6 BLK
48 Points in the Paint

Portland
39/85 FG (45%)
6/15 3PT (40%)
7/7 FT (100%)
26 AST
13 TO
12 FL
45 REB (11 OFF)
5 STL
4 BLK
52 Points in Paint

The CPU NEVER gets more points in the paint than me, but post patch they have gotten more than me every game (though I didn't check the first one). Half my points came in the paint and half of my FG's came off of assists. Both of those used to be MUCH higher.

A couple of other notes...

Post-patch I am finding it MUCH easier to get open shots and also to drive into the paint (though increased contact makes getting shots in the paint a lot harder even though I get there easier). This means I rely alot more on the midrange game (Brooks and McGrady especially) which is great!

Getting space from crossing over and from the pump fake is really easy. I think me learning how to make these shots is the difference between the first two games and now.

Another note... Yao Ming is MUCH more effective on defense post patch (Offense not so much... he was a 76% shooter in my pre-patch association and is currently shooting 52%). In my pre-patch Association he was averaging around 9 boards and 3 blocks, and he had a lot of games with 4-7 boards and no blocks. Through three games Yao is beasting (averaging) 15 rebounds and 5 blocks a game.

I always play as him on defense pre and post patch so that explains the increase in blocks (no more canned animations where the ball goes through my hand), but man he swallows up every board whether I play as him or not. Before, me playing as him lowered his rebounding numbers because I had terrible timing (now it seems I get everything). Also, the lower FG% across the board is probably the main culprit in his increased boards. More missed shots = more rebounds= more rebounds for the man who led my team in rebounding.

Great game post-patch now that I'm re-learning shooting.
