If you are on the fence about which NBA game to get then DO NOT come to the OS forums.

I could not decide which game to get. I read and read different reviews and decided to get 2k....but I felt like I was missing out so I traded it in for Live the day the patch came out.

Now all I see on here is mostly negative feedback about the game post-patch.

I have come to the conclusion that most gamers like to complain and expect perfection and this site is not for those trying to decide on which game to get.

Its like if you do not block their shot your body presence means nothing. Mind you the majority of this hot shooting was in the 4th quarter. I think there was a 9 - 0 run, then after a timeout another 10 - 4 run. The game played great for 3 quarters then with about 8 minutes left in the 4th the cavs erupted. I got beat by 20 points. I was using the celtics.

The offensive rebounding is not fair. The cpu rebounders are like dennis rodman compared to your players. Also im still noticing the cpu getting more foul calls. At one point every trip down was a foul for them while my team could not buy a basket or foul.

I was able to win some nail biters on allstar default difficulty but it was when i had an elite team vs an average team. As soon as i started to play the elite cpu teams the hot streaks were unbeatable.

Its so demoralizing to play great for 3 quarters only to get destroyed in the 4th.
Well, I would ask what arena were u playing in but at the same time, I just think that Live 10 tries to mimick those moments when teams just get hot and whoop your hindport, especially against a great team. I've had moments like that and if you let your frustration get to you, it can take u out of your game, as well, but usually, now that I have so much confidence in my ability in playing the game, runs don't hurt me much, anymore. I stay focused and go for more easy plays to run and utilize my good players, more. And this is pre-patch since we PS3ers are still waiting for the patch. But I do understand where you're coming from where nothing is going your way. It's only something that has made me better at playing Live. Freak the funk, my dude, don't let it freak you!! Lol...

You're exactly right marc68. For some reason, the internetz is an automatic exaggeration machine. (I'm guilty of it, too)

OMG!!! The patch ruined the gamE!!!! EA SUXX!!! Lazy EA!!!

Where in reality (imho), the imrpovements the patch brings are significant, and improve an already very good game. but like you said, people love to complain and expect perfection. Just look back 5 years ago and see how far we've come. And that goes for madden, too.

Most of these problems are a result of user error.

Have you actually read what people have been saying though?

Live coming a long way brings me no comfort when a game ends w\o going into overtime when the score is tied....or when I dont get awarded my points after the other team goaltends me...

I dont think thats too much to ask for...or expecting perfection..

Yeah, that's a fair point, I don't need perfect, but I DO need the basics covered. I think it's a case of both things being true. They DID improve and fix a lot of things, BUT they (obviously) let something slip through thbe cracks. I truly hope they whip up a quick fix for the glaring issues.

# 368 23 @ 10/28/09 01:16 AM
The OT thing definitely needs to be fixed. Im glad they're looking into it.

# 369 The 24th Letter @ 10/28/09 01:19 AM
IM assuming the goaltending thing falls under the same umbrella....that needs to be looked at as well...

# 370 23 @ 10/28/09 01:22 AM
Good question... It probably does too since it seems to be a culprit in it as well.

Would like to hear more from the dev team soon if possible, I dont wanna go over this stuff for weeks... I just want to know they'll definitely fix it

# 371 DirtyJerz32 @ 10/28/09 01:28 AM
I always say, "be careful what you wish for..."

We all asked for a patch to fix some small and major issues. And what did we get? More small and major issues. It's not like we haven't seen this stuff before. Seriously think about it... How many times have we gotten a patch on a game and it ends up hurting other areas of the game?

Be careful what you wish for...

I will say this though. I do see them fixing this. There's NO way they can just sit back and let this happen. I wouldn't be suprised if the ps3 version gets pushed back.

Ahhh... I remember back in the good ole days where patch was a dirty word in video games. Now, it's a must for sports games after they come out. Where do we go from here?

I'm enjoying this game more post patch. Other than the fact that the CPU now draws triple the amount of fouls that I do. I know others are having the opposite experience so I would love to know what the hell I'm doing wrong.

Also I tried to play a game before and it turned into a slide show. The frame rate dropped to single digits and stayed there. What the hell? I'm on 360 with it installed to the hard drive.

Well one thing I can tell you to make scoring off the dribble a bit easier is to use the arrow when you drive. A lot of time what is happening when you go in the paint is you think you are going one direction when to the game you aren't.

So pay attention to that arrow when driving or moving in general. Don't look at the player as your guide (Which is what you do in most bball games) use the arrow.

It will seem odd at first but it will go a long way in helping you finish in the lane or on the break. Now this hasn't really helped me get more fouls but now I'm at least able to finish w/ some consistency.

Played it more last night, and there's definitely things changed here for the worst. Three point shooting seemed ridiculous, as everyone was hitting them. Boston never got set in an offense, almost every trip the 2nd guy to touch the ball shot. Rondo had 24 shots against me while Garnett had 7. UGH.

There are some things fixed, but it seems like more is broke than before.

# 376 sportyguyfl31 @ 10/28/09 08:18 AM
The right guys are shooting, and I'm seeing solid, reasonable shooting %'s, but the CPU is playing like it is hopped up on crank.

The tempo of the game was perfect before, but now it feels kind of helter skelter.

I actually feel like the game is now a little too easy for the user post patch, offensively.

This is the problem that I have with people who cry and holler for patches.

There were a handful of problems that needed to be addressed but many of the "problems" could have been remedied by simply getting better at the game, understanding DNA tendencies, %'s and how the game works, adjusting a slider or two, or playing at a lower difficulty.

But no, people want to holler about how hard, scripted and "unfair" the default higher difficulties are, they dont like that the AI is adapting, and want to have an easy out spoon fed to them.

Not sure if the initial DNA update has contributed to this or not, but it is a big difference as far as pace of the game, and difficulty

How is the cpu unfairly getting more offensive rebounds user error. How is the hot streaks for cpu user error. Please dont post comments like that as if you have a blind eye to the cpu play on higher difficulties.

# 378 kingdevin @ 10/28/09 09:24 AM
I thank all of u guys for your feedback in these forums. I have decided today that I am NOT downloading this patch. I will use sliders and manual edits for DNA to make any necessary changes.

# 379 Pappy Knuckles @ 10/28/09 09:34 AM
I'm not feeling this patch. It seems like anytime I get close to the defender with the ballhandler he goes into the protect the ball animation. I've only played two games so far but it seems like the patch made the game worse to me. I'll have to play some more later.

If I come across like a Jerk on these points, then so be it I guess, but I feel like most of this is simply frustration with losing, and people flat refusing to adapt.

Ive played about 20 games of dynasty mode, and probably another 20 or 30 play now games..and I dont get slaughtered on the boards routinely by the CPU.

There are things you can do with your coaching settings, you can rebound manually.

On defense, I play 100% on ball..with no slider adjustments, and I guard to tendency.

There is no magic tricks involved. I have run the CPU off of the court, I have barely beat them and I have also lost my share.

Ive had a great competitive balance between myself and the CPU..on default all star.

I cannot speak to how everyone is playing..but if you are getting hammered by CPU runs routinely, and getting smashed on the boards consistantly, the problem isnt the game...its the user, refusing to adjust the way he is playing.
