LOL evertime I read one of your end game recaps I cringe and thank the heavens its not me. but it is comical that this year with this game its ALWAYS happening to you. I sympathize with you even as I put my head in the sand and hope my games don't do the same..

I really hope they can get this all squared away.

I'm trying to be patient with this game......

I've praised them and ripped them at the same time this year. But right now i'm absolutely blown away at some of the stuff that gets overlooked.

One minute i'm pumped up over this game because i think it can get better and the next minute i see things that can't be fixed by USER that drops my excitement level back down.

I can't believe the season is finally here and this might be the latest i've ever held back on sliders and rosters to start my season. These games are starting to get rushed out the door that I think it's not a big deal anymore to get them 1-2 months after release because that's when they are usually 100% complete.

When baskets are goaltended, points are not awarded. Very annoying, especially if the game ends up being close.

Another example of bad late game AI post-patch, which happened to me.

Boston is leading by 1 with 20 seconds left... and intentional fouls me to send me to the stripe twice. I made both to go up by 1 point; CPU scores to go up by 1, then proceeds to intentional foul me again.

Here's a video with the first intentional fouls... score & time are there if you check the link.

I only played 1 1/2 games and didn't see anything that stood out to me, but the long time posters and video evidence is beginning to make me wonder what they even did on this patch.

Shame

What looked so promising, is sliding worse and worse.

These are my exact feelings right now. I have not seen anything truly WHACKED but I got a funny feeling it's coming and it's coming sooner than later and I am gonna find myself really ticked. I hope they get things worked out and fast. The game has tons of potential.

Thank the heavens that someone else other than me FINALLY posted an example of some stupid late game clock management by the AI.

It's there, and I know it always seemed to some of you that I was posting it just to trash the game. It's there, and I keep seeing it. Been this way for 2 years now.

I played a couple post patch games last night. I actually won a game on AS but didn't really notice much of a difference. Especially as I watched Joakim Noah do the old 360 dribble move in the lane into a turn around 13 foot jumper that of course found the bottom of the net. Ridiculous. GET THAT *HIT OUT OF THE GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's exactly what Oden did to me last night that I mentioned earlier.

Watch the language, please.

That's annoying but what's worse then that is when Noah does a hop step from a stand still and has not even dribbled yet. This game really makes me mad w/ all the traveling that happens because of the anim blending.

Too many animations are triggered even when the player can no longer dribble. Or the game will force you to take 3 extra steps on a layup just force you into a contact shot animation.

Its things like this that just ruin a game for me especially when it leads to a ridiculous shot for the CPU or bad shot for me.

How long does it normally take a PS3 patch to arrive after the 360 one ? Seems crazy to me, in fact I just assumed they would be posted simultaneously.

That first patch was just a Microsoft thing. Nothing to do with EA.

Marcus said so when it came out.

I'm really not sure what the heck they patched ... and it seems like the few differences I am seeing make it seem as though the patch made the game worse, not better.
I need to play a few more games before I say that definitively, but so far I am not impressed with this patch at all.
In light of your comments in the other thread I had to lock, you may just want to implement some more strategic elements when playing against the CPU on AS or above:

-Call timeouts if the score is getting out of hand in a close game

-Run plays for different guys

These things ALWAYS help me when the CPU goes on a run. I can "feel it" slipping away so I usually go to someone who hasn't shot much and try and get them an open look. It seems the game rewards you for this.

I just passed out of a layup for the first time.

Yeah, but sometimes they can't carry the team.

For instance:

Last night, Heat/Blazers. There was one point where I went down by 13. This was after the game was close.

I didn't lose my cool. Called a timeout, buckled down defensively (like you understand what I mean by that ) and just started running plays for different guys. I would call a play for Haslem, but that play ended up giving me an open look for Wade from 3. Splash.

Just because you call the play for them doesn't mean you have to end with them. Vary it up. Sometimes I don't even call plays and just pass the ball around until I can get a one on one in the post or the perimeter.

If you beat your man, freestyle pass to the soon to be open teammate thanks to the help coming over. You can also pass out and reset, don't force up a shot just because you beat your man.

Don't be afraid to shoot a jumper early as well. Check this out, before the defense even gets set:

EA Sports: hitch

There's a lot of "basketball IQ" in there. I think it's just a matter of getting over that hump and having everything "click."

Can anyone confirm if player lock works like it should now? I'd really appreciate it thanks. What I mean is that if say I control the Center I would not have to press the pass button to imbound the ball, and press the x button to make players shoot ect....

Basically everything should be moving and working by itself with me just being in control of the Ceneter.

After playing 6 games with the patch (12 min. Qs, Superstar), I feel very comfortable summing it up like this:

- Individual parts of the game improved. Player speed, how they feel when you move them, dunk & lay-up percentage, turnovers, foul percentage, baskets made with contact. With that said, overall, the game plays worse. The decisions the CPU makes, namely it's shot selection, is questionable at best... but for whatever reason they tend to go in. Pair the CPU hitting questionable shots on the regular with the many bugs the patch has come with (No points awarded after goaltending, CPU fouling when ahead in the final moments of the close game/CPU dribbling out the clock when losing, some people experiencing no overtime), and I'd say the negatives outweigh the positives. The bugs basically ruin the gaming experience if it comes down to a close game.

Yeah, didn't really notice anything different after playing with the new DNA update today.

I didn't go through all the rosters in the league to see if the fixed all the free agent mistakes (Devin Harris, Mike Miller, Flip Murray, etc.), I just looked over the Nuggets... and Kurt Looby & James White (who were both waived last Wednesday) are still on the Nuggets roster.
