More importantly what is the PLAN TO FIX FATIGUE...I understand people make mistakes...Thats a given...Just please fill us in on the plan to remedy fatigue
Screwing up fatigue the first time was a 'mistake'. Messing it up again in the patch is pure incompetence. This is the first time I've ever felt like EA is stealing my money.
I noticed on some blocks by the cpu and the ball goes out of bounds, the cpu gets the ball. I've been playing this game for over 30 years and I could have sworn it's still the offense's ball if it goes out on the defense Patch still has improved the game tremendously, can't knock EA for working on things to make it better and I understand some things are just not going to work properly and I need to stop expecting it too at this point and try to just enjoy the game because a lot of things are done pretty darn good. Peace!!!!
I don't know what it is but I just have bad luck with this game.
Of course, my first game with the patch I would get hit with a bug where I have the lead but the game refuses to let me win.
I was forced to play OT twice while maintaining a one point lead. Yes, that's right. I was up twice with a one point lead and the game thought it was a tie. At first I was upset at the bad late game AI with me up one, but everything in the game acted like it was tied despite the score being a one point difference in my favor. It probably happened when the game called goal tending on the CPU. I did notice that the score didn't credit me properly. I couldn't go back and figure out where it went wrong though. Guess playground rules were in effect: gotta win it by two.
Anyway, the game has a better flow and feel to it. Enough to the point where it is much more enjoyable now. You don't lose the ball as a cheese deterrent randomly and you can drive the lane in a much easier, more realistic manner. I'm not being warped back into a defender on my side as much and it has made a WORLD of difference.
The CPU is also more efficient in it's offense. I didn't feel cheated and the game didn't feel as scripted. Overall. I'm very pleased with the patch. That turnaround jumper however is still the bane of my existence. It needs a new animation and it needs to look more realistic. It looks terrible but at least it only happens in the mid range game now.
I saw some oddities go on with players (Oden spinning back to back then doing this strange up and under) but I can deal with those here and there.
Overall, the patch certainly loosened the game up. I think individuals that were on the fence will find the game much more enjoyable now. I know I'm actually at a point where I will be putting the disc in my tray more often for dynamic season and not worry about having to deal with too much garbage. That is, of course, with the hopes I don't get another goaltending call in my favor again.
Good to hear Pared... there are a few nagging issues with this game for me, but it sounds like the majority of it was addressed with the patch. Can't wait to get it for the PS3...
Has double team via team management been changed? I set double team on dirk and players are sluggish getting there. Could be isolated though..
I can say that I doubled LBJ the whole game and they came quick and often. It stood out how fast they came. DNA can't come soon enough I can say I am a little excited to get the 1st update.
Something that was odd was Gasol has been replaced by Odom and Gasol is the 6th man Not good!!!!
that was because pau was injured in the last games...so that is why odom got the starting spot
I figured that was probably the case. I probably should have went and checked the box scores and getting my facts straight before posting. My mistake and thanks again for clearing that up.
Interesting theory with the goaltending and the score showing wrong...that would explain why when you were losing by 1 they were fouling you...maybe in reality you were UP by 1...and the games ending in a tie yet getting credited with a win...was there a goaltending call in those games where the user did not get credited for 2 points?
From here on out, everyone who ends in a tie should keep track of whether there was a goaltending call or not...that would explain why some people who are testing this are going to overtime and others aren't...
I won't flame Live for the patch effectively "breaking" parts of the game but I'm not really thrilled about the auto-switch to the point guard after a made basket (impedes the effectiveness of the press), the virtual elimination of the transition finish due to botched "numbers-on-the-break", players with no sense of urgency and Forrest Gump'd passing logic... and, of course, the NO-OT fiasco.
I do like the cleaned up post logic. That's the biggest positive that I've experienced... and as much as I like the fact that the dunk blocking/rim stuffing is now a reality, the missed dunks occur too frequently (4 to 5 missed dunks a game?) Yes, missed dunks do happen... but VC and D12 (Slam Dunk Champions I might add) blowing multiple jams in the same game?.. Nah!
Oh, and how do you goaltend a dunk attempt?
The fouls-on-drives frequency has improved but there are still plenty of MMA battles going on when attacking the basket where the refs simply swallow their whistles... but I definitely see more free throw attempts so that's not exactly a major concern as this has technically improved... so no real gripe there.
The missing fatigue... well... I see no need to club Barbaro over the head here...
The on-the-fly coaching options still disappear every time the screen changes ... but the auto-sub issue appears to be fixed.
The game appears to have taken a clearly visible turn toward half-court play. Not an inherently bad thing but I'm not keen on "style-forcing". I would appreciate the option to run my style of play and make my opponent adjust accordingly. Maybe the DNA (when properly activated) will address this... Maybe.
The force field that keeps cutters away from the basket is overdone. Make the defense (keyword: DEFENSE) contest my shot but please do not FORCE ME TO STOP MY MOMENTUM AND MISS AN ALLEYOOP FINISH (LAYUP OR DUNK). I'm certain there's a happy medium for this as it is currently nullifying "user input" which is vital to enjoying the experience. I have no expectation for a TRULY contested oop to finish but if the backdoor is open... I should be allowed to show you why you need to close it!
Steals vs Turnovers... I force 15 to 20 (sometimes more) turnovers per game.. but I'm only credited with 3 to 5 steals... Something is amiss.
In summation... Some good tweaks.. Some bad breaks... but the game, overall, is still... okay.
Even though the game is head and shoulders above the alternative, I'm not sure how long the breaks can be overlooked before the mob gets angry.
Im actually winning allstar default games now. The games are still nail biters but to actually come up on the winning end makes me feel like im in the twilight zone.
