NBA LIVE 10 also features significant improvements in the franchises overall presentation. Arena specific lighting and crowd behaviors, signature pre-game rituals and celebrations, evolving storylines, and an all new broadcast package are just some of the many enhancements that will ensure that NBA LIVE 10 looks and sounds like a real life NBA game.

the demo was great and there are too many good things to list so i'll just list the bad.
1. i saw sliding too many times on defense
2. blocking is still a little weird and random. i saw fisher block vince carter's layup attempt once and it was a little weird.
3. i saw the ball going through players a few times and other players going through each other.

other than that, this is a great demo and hopefully some of these problems get tweaked before release.

oh yea almost forgot, there were too many times when the cpu stripped the ball from me on defense and my team just stands there. it's starting to get annoying

don't know what you have in mind but THIS year there was no bull... marketing from EA ala gimmicks matter not gameplay

this year was all about gameplay..no bold promises

While I've already commented on a couple of things that I'm not too fond of in the game, I think it's a million times better than '09. Despite my struggles with it, I'm actually enjoying it and I'm sure the final version has a few bugs worked out.

On another note, does anyone have any defensive tips for the All-Star difficulty? I'm really having a hard time. Anyone actually using the defensive assist?

1) The game actually forces you to develop your mid range game (1st time since NBA 2K3). I like the whole experience on offense regarding Guard/ Perimeter play (Offense an Defense). You can't just hard dribble to the basket and ram it down your opponent's throat every play, because the dribblers actually lose the ball in traffic. This tendency is pulled off perfectly in the demo (of guys losing the ball when it gets crowded around them and guys stat bumping into them).
2) Analog passing is back (1st time since NBA 2K3)
3) Defense- Overall (Perimeter and Low Post) it just feels right- I like it.
4) General feel- I know it's a vague comment, but overall I think this game is leaps and bounds ahead of Live 09.

-

1) Control layout- I dont like the passing modifier (LT) on the other side of the controller from the Turbo and the Passing Icons (Y, B, X, A) . I liked it as RB (2K9) or Y (Live 09).
2) They don't seem t have fixed the grabbing the basket out of the cylinder issue (should be a goaltend but it is not called)
3) Post game- I am used to having a post up initiator button and it just doesnt seem right to trust my guy to go into post up when I want him to, or face up when I want him to. It just seems like it takes away from the player control and makes the offensive post moves random, instead of user controlled.
4) Making substitutions- seems like there are rules of who you have to highlight first when you swap guys to make substitutions...in Lakers vs Celtics, you could highlight the guy a the end of the bench then highlight the starter, and the guys would swap. I know it seems like a tiny detail but its just frustrating to be stuck in a menu that was easy to navigate in 1991 but has gotten unnecessarily difficult in 2009.

?

Camera Angles- The Camera Angles in the demo are not to my liking- I usually play from far away on a 45 degree angle so I can see the whole floor and all the passing lanes. Hard to read the lanes and find your open shooters when you are so zoomed in. So we will see what the game has to offer when it releases.

i was recently playing with the magic and dwight got in foul trouble he had 2 fouls he went to the bench but no warmup on and when he came back in he got his 3rd foul and he went back to the bench and he had his warmup gear on so i said to myself i guess he'll be out for a while lol

LOVE the presentation and absolutely LOVE the atmosphere as well. Really felt like I was watching an actual game lol. One negative that I did notice(I dont go searching for the teeny, tiny negatives like some on here do lol)is I see they have that long animation whenever you go for a layup. Definitely wasn't a fan of that in 2K and hope that's not an issue in Live. But so far im definitely impressed with it this year. Gonna have a hard time trying to fit in all these games this fall with this, 2K10, Madden, AC2, MW2, and Halo: ODST and also FIFA 10 coming out lol.

I wish this game had a defense stance button. I like to play on ball defense when im playing. I do not believe the defensive assistant button will be effective enough especially in human vs human games.

Sometimes when its a SG, or SF guarding a PG and you push defensive assist button your player runs away from the PG player your guarding to get back to SG vs SG or SF vs SF. I would like to play closer defense as well but its like a barrier is between you and the person your guarding when using the defensive assistant button.

Its like stealing and interceptions were jacked up as a artificial defense instead of having a balance and being able to play on ball defense effectively.

I hope they fix that because it happens in a few other areas where I'm trying to make my player do one thing and he is stuck in an animation.

Now, another thing I like is that it does feel as if you have to pay attention and play basketball to do well.
Certainly my biggest gripe with the demo. It also felt like on defense there would be times where my guy would get pushed away from his assignment almost like I'm fighting with the cpu for control. It felt like a force field was around my guy at times. There also seemed to be alot of AUTOmations especially during transition d. For example there were many times where I would try to get back on d after a turnover and as I was pushing towards the opponents goal to defend it (with a head start ahead of the offense) my guy would automatically turn around to face them allowing my guy to slow down and give up the easy two. Defense felt like an afterthought.

Passing is ok for the most part, but the ball doesn't always go to who you want unless you icon pass all the time.

Dribbling on the other hand is stellar. Da Czar was right that using varied pressures on the stick makes it much easier to get by your man. I was absolutely killing the cpu with Kobe,Jameer, and VC (all-star level)with simple crosses. He was also right that this game has positives and negatives. Overall, I enjoyed my time with it

It's very very very difficult to drive the lane or over-dribble.

Some may think it's unfair... but I love the challenge. It really makes Live mid-range game and basic basketball skill-sets shine.

did i just make kobe fall with vince carter then shoot the J ??

yes i did

lol

still dont know if im completely sold on buying this

after playing for bout 2 hours... it still feels arcadeish...

gotta wait for the 2k demo

but the game is great ... i still like the gameplay... just not as tight as 2k

I really just don't like the decision to make your guy not pass the ball until the button is released when using icon passing.

I understand it opens up the whole player lock mechanic... but icon passing, to me, is essential to moving the ball around.

I've tried using the freestyle passing mechanic and it just won't pass to the guy I want to sometimes. Often enough to bother me. It's amazing when it works though.

If I could have last year's icon passing back... it would increase my enjoyment of the demo even more.

What is the defensive assist button?

Overall I think the demo is good. It's definitely a huge step up from NBA Live 09. The game is very smooth, compared to most of the Live titles. The things that I didn't like as much was boxing out wasn't that good at all. I felt helpless most times keeping big men off of the glass even if I had good position. Is there a button for box out or is it done automatically? I tried using the defensive assist, but still had trouble. Another thing that bothered me was the lack in playing the passing lanes. I couldn't penalize the CPU for making a dumb pass, which was another thing I felt I had not much control of. I'm really looking forward to this game though and this year more than ever, Live seems to be giving me a nice representation of NBA basketball.

I noticed that too. I dont know what Live 09's passing system was like (I played it just dont recall), but I have enjoyed the system that 2K has employed over the past couple of years, where if you icon pass, you lead the guy in the direction you are holding your left stick. Makes it so smooth when you curl guys off screens for open Js.

Oh and that auto-tuned remix of Hip Hop is a disgrace.

I downloaded it and played three games and also spent some time in the hangar. Overall EA really improved and finally delivered a playable bball game. The Crow Atmosphere is definitely one of the best i've seen. The graphics are pretty good but visuals has never really been a problem. I think the graphics are much improved. One thing that still annoys me is that the player movement still looks a bit robotic. I still get that cartoonish feel from the game, it doesn't seem fluid to me. I owned both live and 2k last year and leaned towards 2k. I think most live fans will be satisfied this year and wont revert to buying 2k on top of live but i also dont think live is good enough to make a 2k player switch over to live. Some of you are comparing the live demo to the combine and thats pretty much unfair since the combine isn't exactly a demo of the final product or in game action. Overall i would predict that instead of getting 6 out of 10 or 6.5 out of 10 in reviews this year, i would assume live will get 7.5 - 8.0 out of 10 ratings but i think next year, live really needs to develop new player models.
I agree 100%. maybe its bcuz ii dont play live and im so used to 2k. but my first impressions are exactly the same as Abnormal101's. its not enough for me to switch. i might rent it though

ok take back everything i said about this demo

there is no way i should have scored 32 points with kobe in a DEMO!

a two ... 4 min quarter DEMO!

this is insane.. i can tell this is going to be a cheesers game

its extremely easy to cheese

i just scored 24 with dwight howard the game before

its to easy to do what you want with the ball...

i tried to play sim ball my first couple of games but now i see... this is NOT a sim game
