NBA Live 10 News Post

SEPTEMBER 11, 2009 - Electronic Arts announced today that a playable demo of NBA LIVE 10 is now available for download on Xbox LIVE™ Marketplace for all Xbox LIVE Gold Subscribers. Play as the Orlando Magic or the Los Angeles Lakers and re-write, or relive, last year’s NBA Finals match-up. The demo will be available to Xbox LIVE Silver members and on the PLAYSTATION® Network™ on September 17th, 2009.

With a renewed focus on creating an authentic 5 on 5 basketball videogame experience, NBA LIVE 10 introduces a myriad of gameplay improvements to the long running franchise. Computer controlled players will now move and react like their real life counterparts with enhanced player A.I. (artificial intelligence), and authentic, team-specific playbooks. In addition, all new dribbling, passing and shooting systems now give users more control over individual players than ever before seen in the franchise. Gamers can now control every movement as they break down a defender on the perimeter, drive to the basket, and finish at the basket using their left or right hand. From dishing no look passes to releasing a step back shot early or late to avoid a block from a defender, NBA LIVE 10 lets you to create highlight reel plays on your terms.

NBA LIVE 10 also features significant improvements in the franchises overall presentation. Arena specific lighting and crowd behaviors, signature pre-game rituals and celebrations, evolving storylines, and an all new broadcast package are just some of the many enhancements that will ensure that NBA LIVE 10 looks and sounds like a real life NBA game.

Powered by Dynamic DNA, NBA LIVE 10 will use the latest stats, rosters and tendencies for all the players and teams in the NBA*. With data supplied by Synergy Sports Technology – the premier analytics provider for over 25 NBA teams, Dynamic DNA allows NBA LIVE 10 to provide the most authentic basketball simulation experience in a videogame to date.

Even though I have issues with the size of the players in relation to the court and how when rebounding they basically jump over the rim.

You have to give it to EA for putting out a demo before 2k even gave us gameplay vids

The blocks and steal animations needs to be worked on and tightend. As well as drawing a charge. Coming from 2k9 I wanted to draw a few charges but did know how. I see ALOOOTTT of upside though.

They let rebounds that are not immediately in range bounce right by them. Once a live fan, maybe never again I don't know what to say.....Amazing

What demo were you playing? if you don't like the game...sure. But none of that stuff you mentioned appears in the games I played.

Just played the demo and WHOA...this game plays so smooth, the controls are very comfortable and the game atmosphere is so spot on. This game is gonna be stupid bad.

Kobe is making me make a thizz face constantly... just put up 16 points with him on mostly jumpers (one poster over Vince on the break) and it was gorgeous. The running jumper to the left baseline was falling like crazy, a deep 3, stepback from the right elbow, a turnaround catch-and-shoot.. craziness.

Now that I semi know what I'm doing, I'm loving this more... I'm starting to get the hang of rebounding and blocking it seems like -- sent one out of bounds with Gasol earlier from the weak side and also managed a stuff on a Dwight dunk with Bynum surprisingly enough.

But wooo, Kobe!... can't wait to use my dude Melo in a real game.

After playing the Demo for most of the day, I played the Combine again, and right now I got to say I'm leaning more towards 2k10. It's a difference what all the little things make. Live 10 (based on the demo) needs A LOT of polish and refinement, where 2k10 a formula well established and just needs to be tweaked. All the stuff the Live guys put work into is revolutionary and definitely have raised the bar, but you got to meet the status quo in all the other areas first.

Unless Live has online franchise mode, I'm 85% sure I'm not getting Live this year...

sounds to me like you're playing on a lower difficulty level. Try playing it on All Star level or Superstar level if you want more realism and less arcade.

Told you stumble !!!! to me whats not good doesn't get much worse than what you originally see. But what is good continues to unfold. IF you dig the gameplay strategy aspect.. That is all I was trying to say. The micro battles and adjustments that are necessary from a basketball standpoint are beautiful IMO.

If your unwilling to go through the learning curve then I can see how some people just don't get it... It is very different gamplay wise to me than other games I have played. Takes some adjustments.

Watching the lakers run the triangle and get everyone involved to me as a student of the game is just too beautiful to pass up. one rocket dunk or bad rebound animation can't ruin that for me.

I'm telling you guys now: Cut the Live vs. 2k garbage out.

You have impressions on the demo? Post 'em.

You don't? Think twice about hitting that reply button.

Ill that is the beauty of having 2 gaming companies. You gave it an honest shot and you feel the other game is more complete to you. Beautiful but at the same time you were able to acknowledge that progress has indeed been made with this title maybe just not enough for you... thats is a more than fair assessment.

I spent like 25 mins just looking at DNA Ratings/Tendencies given to us by Synergy. Amazing

i just played the demo and something just doesnt feel right for some reason. i cant put my finger on it. it could be the animations i guess. they didnt feel very realistic to me. the players looked like they were covered in baby oil when they started sweating too. the game atmosphere was really good though.

Let me say this, what was said earlier about players feeling differently and Kobe feeling like Kobe is true. I absolutely love handling the rock with Kobe and then hitting a 18 foot jumper. Carter ain't got no answer to that.

In all seriousness though, I really like it. Past basketball games, only difference was the rating. Now there still is the rating but there is also something more to it.

Having a blast with the demo. October can't come fast enough.

Only thing I hope is looked at is the defense. I know it was mentioned it is a different type of way to play defense but I don't like that I can't put pressure on the ball handler. I can sag, play that medium type defense but I can't really body up the offensive player.
