NBA Live 10 News Post

Basketball is just around the corner and EA timed it up perfectly, by sending us an early copy of the NBA Live 10 demo on the Xbox 360, which features the Orlando Magic @ the L.A. Lakers, played in an "NBA Finals atmosphere". You can only play the first half, in the demo, which is two, 4 minute quarters. Unfortunately, I'm not allowed to take screenshots or video from the game. Hoping to have beta code by mid-September, so keep your eyes open.

Is it possible that any team has access to any play? 392 for just the Lakers? Or 392 for everyone and no matter the team you can access them?

Well, given that they've said that each team has their authentic playsets, I assume that it's 392 including variations (the same play run for a different position). Doesn't sounds too crazy to me -- if you have 40 plays with 5 players on the floor and each one could end up with the ball, that's already 200 'plays'.

But yeah, I'd like some explanation/clarification on that too, as it's almost too good to be true. I want to know how many plays the Cavs have... I'm guessing 5.

Thats a good question Pared I'm interested in what the answer is to that one.

That's what I'm saying Pared. That is crazy if thats true 392 team specific plays? Yea Stumble i'm guessing too that that includes variations, 1-3 options off the same play. That is still staggering though...

Steve, I know it's just a demo, however, how is the responsiveness of the controls so far? Do you get stuck in animation sequences, or do you have complete control?

Even if each team were given as much love as the Lakers (doubtful), we're talkin 11760 plays here.

Yeah, call me skeptical... that has to be the total amount in the game, including variations. Good call fellas.

Devs? Steve? Care to comment on this bit? Very interested... I'm of the belief that it's 392 for the Lakers alone including variations simply because they said that each team has authentic sets that that's what was available in the demo to Steve's Lakers. But it does seem like a staggering amount were every team to have even close to that amount... some elaboration would be helpful.

I bet the easiest team to do was Cleveland though. Their only plays are Iso with Lebron, or pick and roll with Lebron..haha

Im loving all them small little details!!! I also like how boxing out is sounding. You could fight for position and rebounds look smooth too. Really nice.

Hey Steve did you see guys with new and improved jumshot animations?? (Rashad Lewis, Gasol, Kobe leaners, etc..) Thanks.

# 54 Pared @ 08/21/09 12:35 PM
It could be around 11 to 12 plays per position with 7 variations each play...

Something like that.

It's like when a developer says we have 15,000 sneakers... but it's really 15 sneakers with 1,000 color variations... not really the same thing.

I'd imagine a vast majority of the 392 plays are shared with every team. Say each team has 30-40 unique variations tops.

A lot of teams run simular plays out of sets like horns or floppy(which wasn't in live last year==single double screens) so I would bet that a good majority of those plays are in everyones playbook. Would only make since.

On games I have captured and broken down I have seen 6-7 teams run the same play on occassion. just for different personnel

Haha, we really need Steve back in here to answer that one I think. Or Marcus.
