NBA Live 10 News Post

Basketball is just around the corner and EA timed it up perfectly, by sending us an early copy of the NBA Live 10 demo on the Xbox 360, which features the Orlando Magic @ the L.A. Lakers, played in an "NBA Finals atmosphere". You can only play the first half, in the demo, which is two, 4 minute quarters. Unfortunately, I'm not allowed to take screenshots or video from the game. Hoping to have beta code by mid-September, so keep your eyes open.

How does that make sense? so a 97 rating for Kobe and a 93 rating for Howard is not overall indicative of how good they are as a player? I see little reason to believe what you just said. especially when Synergy provides them with a wealth of info on what each player is good and weak at.

Guys, the ratings argument stops NOW.

This thread is about the Live impressions. Stop side-tracking it.

Create a new thread STRICTLY for ratings if you'd like.

Rashard wasn't known for anything before playing next to Dwight Howard, let's not forget that. He was an 18 PPG scorer on a bad Sonics team, and he's an 18 PPG scorer on a great Orlando team, Rashard hasn't changed as a player. Vince averages 1 steal per game btw, as does Rashard. There is not much evidence to state Rashard is a much superior defender to Vince; they are both average.

Vince can beat any SG off the dribble and he's an incredible shooter, he's a much better offensive option than Lewis. Lewis can post up and it doesn't even translate into higher assist numbers, go figure? He chucks 3's and he converts them at a high rate, Vince is much more well rounded.

No more ratings talk guys. Lets keep this on topic. Last warning.

Steve, do you take questions? I want to know more about on-ball/perimeter defense - is there a lot of contact, esp when players are driving to the lane? Or is it "invisible force field" like?

Great write-up btw, thanks!

Illegal screen? Wow.

Hate that they still don't have number indicators for the sliders though, but it's minor.

hi steve i must know this one:

while you played against the magic did you felt that Nelson is taking too much control
like in live 09??? or he was solid letting Howard and Carter being the firsts options on the attack???

"When driving to the hoop, holding the right trigger for turbo, brings the dunks. By default, the game is on Pro and it is a dunkfest, as I was dunking on fools left and right. Thankfully, we can adjust the difficulty to All-Star and the game plays great. No more dunkfests, in fact, I'll be lucky to get 2 or 3, not including fast breaks, and of those 2 or 3, they all look like they should. Not 360's in traffic."

Sweet, Marcus wasn't lying to us about the no dunkfest on higher difficulty. Incredibly excited about 392 (!!!) plays from different positions, the ability to set type of pick and roll coverage (!), assign men to stick on offensive players, and the various pressure settings being easily accessible (Live's in-game subs and menus were SO BAD last year and in 08).

Absolutely can't wait for this. 2K's combine will tide me over for a week or whatever it is, but this demo will keep me going until release, I can tell already. 392 plays!! Can't wait to see what Larry Brown's crazy *** has cooked up for the Bobcats ha.

I can't wait to play the demo. At least it's longer then last year. Two 4min quarters

The amount of plays in the playbook is staggering. Good to hear.

Hopefully the playoff atmosphere is well done. Not sure if this is a Q&A, but maybe Steve will see this and discuss how much better it is compared to last years game atmosphere.

I am pumped for the demo!

Great preview Steve. Sounds like the gameplay has improved a lot from last year I can't wait to get my hands on this demo. The 392 plays alone has got me pumped to play the demo.

My goodness did I read that right? 392 plays for the Lakers alone? and all of those were available to use in the DEMO?! woooooow that is unbelievable.

Love the fact you can now choose which hand to finish layups with. Nice to hear the smoothness of the pro-hop/euro steps and spin layups are good. Loooove the fact the the MID-RANGE game can be used effectively, it helps that Live has good court spacing.

The "Hustle animation" frequency has me worried as well. I hope that its more contextual than it is situational. It's a demo sooo we'll see.

"By default, the game is on Pro and it is a dunkfest, as I was dunking on fools left and right. Thankfully, we can adjust the difficulty to All-Star and the game plays great." This is the quote of the entire article Steve haha.

If you're are taking any sort of questions Steve, there is someting you didn't touch on that I wanted to know about. Net/Rim interaction and sounds have they improved from last year? is there more variety in the animations we've seen from last year?

Great read...

I like when, the player goes to the hoop strong they yell out as if they're trying to get a foul ala Kobe.

That's Great

finally a midrange game. hopefully they fix the sliding and out of bounds calls. still disappointed that there is no loose ball foul calls. i cant believe it but nba live might actually close the gap on 2k sports. i need to see more from 2k though

# 39 ehh @ 08/21/09 12:06 PM
My jaw was practically on the floor when I saw the 392 play playbook for the Lakers. Funny that there was a thread in the NBA forum recently about Larry Brown having a 420 play playbook and half the people couldn't believe.

This game is looking like it's going to be the truth. I cannot wait for the sucker to drop.

# 40 DW3 @ 08/21/09 12:07 PM
Wow is all i can say after reading the impression! I usually buy both games each year, but this may be the only game i need. Great Graphics, improved gameplay, total user control...I will be in virtual hoops heaven! Cant wait till the demo!
