NBA Live 10 Demo Hands-On Preview

Basketball is just around the corner and EA timed it up perfectly, by sending us an early copy of the NBA Live 10 demo on the Xbox 360, which features the Orlando Magic @ the L.A. Lakers, played in an "NBA Finals atmosphere". You can only play the first half, in the demo, which is two, 4 minute quarters. Unfortunately, I'm not allowed to take screenshots or video from the game. Hoping to have beta code by mid-September, so keep your eyes open.

Okay hopefully we can end the "they're taking features that are in 2K and calling them original" nonsense I've seen one too many times, here I'll help ya'll out:

Example of a feature that if duplicated would be legitimately stealing and validate these claims:

-EA deciding to make the opening screen display all games being played that day in real life giving the user the ability to play them directly, and calling it "NBA Today." This would be stealing from Visual Concepts.

Example of things that happen in the NBA and therefore should be in ALL NBA videogames (remember, they're tryna to replicate the real thing, SMH) regardless of how you personally feel toward a particular company getting your money:

-Sometimes players aren't able to outright grab a board, so they tip it to themselves to gain the advantage of coming down with it.

-Players like Lebron and DWade like to use idle dribbling moves to size up their man, catch him off balance or see a cutter, or attack an opening when they see it.

-Players do things differently as the NBA is a highly individualized league. They walk, run, dribble, shoot, and wear unique accessories.

Please think about this game we all love, and what the difference is between replicating the sport and stealing features.

From what I've seen so far, everything looks good but the gameplay. The animations are very choppy.

what is that supposed to mean? The 2k and live games basically look the same on both system..i dont really get what you're saying.

Hell actually live looked a little bit better on 360 last year...very very subtle tho nobody wouldnt notice if they didnt know how games are made/developed.

This article seems compromised a little to biased for my taste. Not enough analysis going on here with the game's issues only a brief mention of possible glitches and bugs which are expected in a demo.

Could be wrong, but I think he just meant he was considering getting Live on 360 and 2k on PS3.

It always seems as if all EA sports games fall in love with a new animation and over-use it. Like it's a new toy and they cant stop playing with it. Game sounds pretty good though and the 5v5 video was pretty good too.

If a game doesnt release with numbers next to the SLIDERS then the developers are obviously not away of their community.

Looking forward to this game, but I sincerely hope that is corrected by the time it ships.
