NBA Live 10 Demo Hands-On Preview

Basketball is just around the corner and EA timed it up perfectly, by sending us an early copy of the NBA Live 10 demo on the Xbox 360, which features the Orlando Magic @ the L.A. Lakers, played in an "NBA Finals atmosphere". You can only play the first half, in the demo, which is two, 4 minute quarters. Unfortunately, I'm not allowed to take screenshots or video from the game. Hoping to have beta code by mid-September, so keep your eyes open.

Is this demo from an almost final build? Could you state a percentage of the build it was taken from?

What's the deadline for Live 10 to go gold?

Great writeup.

The 392 plays is great! this way each game will be unique as well as per possession!

In 09 after playing for a while, i can predict the tendencies of the AI's plays. It's like playing the game over and over with no variations whatsoever after a while it gets boring.

here's hoping the AI will use the full plays specific to a team in game! That to me will make live much more exiting to play.

Just wondering though, I usually play a dynasty with fantasy draft.
How will these plays affect a team with completely different personnel? Like if I use the warriors but drafted let's say Duncan and a bunch of players who normally doesn't like to run.
Will they adjust to the team run and gun style or will they play more slowly because of their DNA?

QuickSilver I'm guessing your play style will depend on team and coach and not players. I could be totally wrong though.

and me being another 2k fan but I gotta give EA props for the progress they made for live and for that ill be buying both games also...both games look good indeed!

Can't wait for this demo! Everything sounded pretty good, for the most part. I just was hoping that for once in a b-ball game when in practice, u REALLY get a practice of either 5 on 5, 1 on 1 or sumthin where u can work on your defensive skills as well as your offensive game/skills as if you were going up against a defense.
The hustle play animation was something I was concerned about, on the low, and it came to fruition. I hope EA can work that out a bit so it properly occurs in the right instances and NOT gets overdone.

Once again, overall, nice. Marcus, my dude, keep the wip crackin'!! Lol.

In 09, there is already 5 on 5 practice where you can practice plays of a team.

If kobe ever dove while the ball was rolling and he was by himself on a break away i would shut this game off. That would be horrible. About the play selection..is there really 392 different plays for the Lakers, thats incredible. Can you give me some examples of how they work and some of the names of them. Does play artwork show-up on the screen like 2k does? And is A the new shoot button??

We'll see. I'm not saying that it's not possible or anything, but I find it hard to believe that they have up 400+ DIFFERENT plays for EACH and EVERY team this year. This is probably something that I'll actually need to see to believe before I can get aboard that bandwagon(regarding the plays)but like I said earlier, everything else is SOUNDING good right now. No, I think he was saying it's in the high 400s total, not per team. But of those 400+ plays, most are team specific, some are shared.. In either case, I assume you can assign them to each team, but it shows which plays are team-specific by naming them "Magic High P&R" or whatever.

That seems like it's about 11/12 or so specific to each team with others as basic plays, like Iso, PnR, Backdoor cuts, Post Up, etc.

This is might thought right here. I'd say about between 12-14 ACTUAL plays and then your basics just as you described.

I never even knew there was a gamespot preview(in my own lil world sometimes) or maybe it's because I been following that other game, time for a change and Live has gotten my attention.
