NCAA FOOTBALL 10 DEMO AVAILABLE TODAY

Fans Awaiting the Release of NCAA Football 10
Create Over 80,000 Custom Teams via TeamBuilder

June 18, 2009 –Electronic Arts is proud to announce that the demo of NCAA Football 10 is available today for Xbox 360 and PS3. Fans who download the free demo will experience all-new gameplay features including:
  • Defensive Keys—Prior to the snap during the pre-play, hold the left trigger while pressing the analog stick in the direction you think will stop the run. If you think the offense will pass the ball, press upward. Or, you can press the icon associated with a receiver (X, Y, A, B, LB, RB) to spotlight that individual. This will focus the defense on making sure that the chosen offensive player does not make a play.
  • Defensive Player Assist—By holding A (on 360) or X (on PS3) on defense your player will be put under CPU control so you have time to read a play and decide the best course of action.
  • Enhanced Defensive Lineman Moves—With new animations, take control of your defensive linemen using the right stick to fight pass blocks and put pressure on the quarterback.
  • Gameplanning—There are six defensive and five offensive individual game planning options, or you can globally set your offense and defense. Each option changes the way your team will perform. For example, be aggressive and try and strip the ball every time and you run the risk of getting more facemask penalties.
  • Player Lock—Player lock allows you to lock on to a specific player in order to control that position during the play. When you lock on you'll get a whole new camera angle that puts you closer to the action.
  • Set Up Plays—Set up plays allows you to run one play in order to set up another. When picking a play, you will notice that some plays have a chain link between them, which indicates that one play can set up the other. Every time you use one particular play throughout the game, you are setting up for the play that is chain linked to it. Once the play is 100% set up (as shown in your playbook), the defense is at its highest likelihood to fall for that play action.
  • 1000 new animations like throw out of a sack, new shotgun snaps/hand-offs, WR/DB interactions, tackles, double team run blocks, catches, broken tackles, and slipping in bad weather.

Where did the devs go it seems when we have something to discuss that we don't like about the game they don't post or when they do post they give us blogs of "things"they fixed.Just fix and polish EVERYTHING if your not going to reinvent and redefine. These gimmicky things that they add to the game are getting a little old.Graphics and gameplay should be the MAIN priority.

I'll sum up my review in two words. Severe disappointment.

I don't believe this.

Where do I start...

-The control seems way to herky jerky and at times unresponsive. And at other times over done. If I'm standing in the pocket and barely move the directional stick, the player instead of barely moving, leans too much towards whichever direction I push. I just don't feel as though I seem to have as much control as I should over my man.

-The graphics look WORSE than '09. What happened? OU's red jerseys are fire truck red, and look like just a big blob of red paint. The game looks too bright in a washed out sort of way. Florida's jerseys look washed out rather than looking a true blue.

-The new pass camera makes it a bit harder to pass because it doesnt keep with the ball fast enough, but that's because the ball is traveling at light speed. The camera should zoom in as soon as I throw the pass. Instead, I'm catching passing with a viewpoint so far back, it's hard to tell what my next move should be. And I'm playing on a 56' HD screen.

-Why does every tackle seemingly look the same....the guy just falls softly down onto his back.

- The way the CPU runs so robotic & herky jerky, it's hard to make tackles because he just changes directions so rigidly.

- Back to the control issue: I just don't feel as though I can move properly. When I run the ball up the middle, I feel like I'm at the mercy of whatever animation the game wants to choose instead of me being able to cut back & move freely.

Ughhhhh....I'm terribly upset by this. Here I have waited a whole 'nother year & hoped to get the game back right, and this is what we get?

yeah I seen that too. Happened 3 times in the first 2 games I've played, but I haven't seen it since(playing 5th game now).

Its ridiculous to say the least.

When I first saw it I was like, "holy **** a bad snap over the QB's head!!!" then when it was ruled an incomplete pass I was like WTF!!!

Does the way the camera kind of bounce around give anyone else a headache? PS3 by the way.

First time playing NCAA on nexgen. Do you get wider camera angles on the real game? I can't really see the patterns in the flat without moving out of the pocket.

All totally agree with you 1000%. Man, I don't know what build this was, but they need to blow this up right now. I scored on a TD 45 seconds into the game. Had Tebow looking like the second coming of Unitas. The same stop on the dime running. I could go on and on. For all those who say that Madden looks the same as last year, they need to download NCAA 10 and go look at NCAA 09, and then comment. Did someone take David Ortiz and put him on the NCAA team? Wow.

Just take NCAA 2006 for PS2 and upgrade the graphics, that would be a 10

# 435 TreyIM2 @ 06/18/09 10:12 PM
Ok, uhh, this game looks kinda ugly on the PS3. Maybe my shapness on my 1080p is too high or sumthing but on the replays, the players look fine yet the running animation gets exposed during the replays, as well - They look horrible, again. Sup wit dat, yo?
Anyway, playing the game, I dunno what I may have done on my first running play as a Sooner but I stayed as the QB, somehow, after the snap and the RB did his own thing. Weird cuz the next running play, I was in complete control...
Umm, did I say the players look ugly while the game is in play on the PS3?? Lol. Not cool. I'm gunna adjust my sharpness....

I don't know if there is a framerate issue on the PS3 but some plays reminded me of Madden 08 on the PS3 where I was like, "HE CAUGHT THE BALL??? WHAT HAPPENED BETWEEN THE 30 AND 35 YARD LINE ON THAT RUN??? " because the framerate was so jacked. Same thing happened here. Something just seems off on the PS3 version.

I played my first and only game so far on Varsity and I was up 10 - 0 on the Gators in the fourth and they kept either fake spiking or spiking when there was no need to. The clock was stopped on every instance AND they would always run the play clock pretty much all the way down. NO since of urgency.
Other than that, the lighting looked pretty good...but those damn players look terrible. Did I say that, yet? Lmao! I don't think this game will be bought by me, so far. I'ma keep banging this out.

# 436 stmark @ 06/18/09 10:13 PM
1st snap on defense i hit the qb forced a erant pass next play forced a fumble on the wr got on offense scored again on a fake jet sweep pass .....this is great

Maybe my expectations were so low that I had nowhere to go but up but I do like the demo a little more than I thought I would based upon the info we've gotten and the videos so far.

After only one half of play...things I like:

1. the over the shoulder catch really makes the game feel more like real football.
2. I like the in-the-grasp but able to throw the ball and maybe it's a horrid throw addition
3. the pocket, even if not a true pocket, does make the game feel more realistic.
4. the qb getting away from some sacks is a huge upgrade, unlike in all past years on next-gen where when someone gets their paws on you, you were DONE
5. the menus look different and I suppose a bit better, although I wonder if it's just because they look different and i'm so used to 09's
6. kickoffs seem to go deeper so the ball doesn't come out as far
7. you seem to have WAY more control of your passes in regards to lobs, bullets..this could be a HUGE UPGRADE IMO...
8. i am loving the new camera angles
9. i also really like the new setup-the-play feature

things I don't like...

1. still can't get any pressure on the cpu qb
2. i don't like the default pump-up-the-crowd button being changed
3. cpu qb still too da***ed accurate
4. too many grab em and throw em down tackles...WAY too many..

I mostly play online so it doesn't bother me too much that playing the cpu is an exercise in frustration in how it plays, even when you win..

so far I will say this, it seems as if NCAA 09 wasn't too bad of a game in your opinion and something you enjoyed playing, you will be just fine with this. But if you were looking for major changes this isn't it.

Anyways, back to the demo.

# 438 cowboy_kmoney @ 06/18/09 10:18 PM
Let's just pray that all this stuff thats happing in the demo's are from them not putting it togather before they were trough with the game. Because This year is a make or break year for the NCAA series, And E.A. knows that 2ksports is on the sidelines waiting on there time to play once again.

# 439 TreyIM2 @ 06/18/09 10:20 PM
stoncold32 - I agree a 100% about the graphics when compared to 09's, at least by the demo's standards. Washed out a bit but it looks like they were trying to mimic Madden 09 a bit but kinda failed. I remember when I played the Madden 09 demo I was blown away by how much better the game looked compared to 08. I liked the graphics on NCAA 09's demo, too. I didn't have issues because it looked better than the previous year's demo.

I'm concerned about what I see as a some framerate issues or maybe it's the graphics making plays look funny at times. Like I said, I will keep on playing and playing for a while.

Hey Odogg,
pump fake is indeed with the R stick,I was playing as Oklahoma, and pushed up on the R stick, and this sent him into the pump fake animation.

Also,it shows in the control section that certain moves are locked, but when I was playing as a d-lineman,I was using the right stick to perform moves,so I'm not sure if this was a mistake or what, cause in that screen it said those moves were locked
