Tap for body punches and tap sweep (the full curve motion isn't necessary) for hooks and uppercuts to the face.

I was a little annoyed at first when i played the demo because i felt i coudn't get away from hatton, thought footspeed was too slow(im glad they're making it faster), and wasn't happy with the step back move.
Now i realize it has to do with the camera not allowing you to see the foot movement angles, and the fact that it takes some work to keep distance between you and an opponent who's main gameplan is to go inside with ruthless determination.

Unless you're a casual boxing fan, i don't see how the Hatton A.I. could bother you. In real life thats exactly how he fought. Its up to you to counter act that type of fighting style.
Its real easy when you stay away from the ropes and jab and hit em wit crosses from a distance. When he gets in close push him away (ala Foreman vs Frazier).
Config 2 on the demo puts the haymaker modifier on the left bumper, but probably defeats your purpose because it also switches the block modifier from right trigger to left trigger and the lean modifier from left trigger to right trigger. That leaves switch stance on the right bumper.

Question: do the punches feel like they land at different levels of effectiveness? Can you feel a flush punch?

I'm sure I'm getting the game, but with the amount of time and hype they've been giving this title for years, I'm expecting a lot. Not being able to have a defensive game at this stage of the game engine is unacceptable. I hope with slick boxers you can stick and move and play good defense to win rounds. I also hope there are good sliders available. But most importantly: don't make all fights look the same!

I haven't played the demo in about a week. I loved it, but I'm gonna just wait for the retail version so it's fresh again when it drops. I can't wait. My hands are phenomenal.

I'm at a point now where I'm getting atleast one knock down per fight. I can't wait for the real game.

On the PSN? I thought the demo only came out for those who pre-ordered.

in a good sports game, if someone is mashing buttons, they should be innefective for the most part and lose. If people were winning via mashing, that's the game's fault, not the player. You should be rewarded for playing like a boxer (which you were not).

U really don't have to use the haymakers. When u stun your opponent and his health bar turns red, go to work. Their defense is vunerable at that point, so hit em with everything u got. U gotta master the counter punches and bob and weave though.

As I said before the AI is not smart and a sucker for haymaker hooks to the head. After absorbing enough of them they will block without throwing punches-their block meter gets thin and then the punches go through the blocks resulting in a stun. The CPU can clinch pretty well but much of the time you can knock him down or out with a well timed haymaker.

TPC is only part of the battle. You're not a ring general like the kid.

Man I'm pissed!!! I thought I had it all figured out. My Xbox Live membership ran out Monday so I created a new one today so that I can download the demo. I thought I would get a free month, but they still wont let me download. Has something changed or am I doing something wrong?
HELP!!!

Those guys a Microsoft are fricking geniuses. They get people to pay to play on-line on an inferior console, when they could play on PS3 for free. How do they do it?

The wrong thread to advertise the PS3.

yeah this demo rocks!...im digging it alot.....

the way you can move in to dodge a punch is beautiful. it looks a whole bunch like real fighting. hands get tangled, your timing on counter punches and the setting up of punches...the sweet science is in there more than ever...

If this is just a taste....the full product will be Justice!

finally someone spits the truth. by some of the comments on here you'd think that there were a bunch of videogames that actually resemble boxing. (theres only 1 this one.
