I'm wondering if you guys have to clear your PS3's somehow?
Is there some sort of cache in the system?
I'll take some video with my DVR later...and post it....and you guys tell me if you see the same lag as you have....because I'm not seeing it.
Weird.

Who said it doesn't exist? For those of you unfortunate enough to have it, don't pretend it DOES exist for those who DON'T see it. See how that works?

I guess this can turn into an absolute frame rate thread, even though we DIDN"T see it in San Diego, and didn't Brunnoce just post he saw it in the 08 demo? So, keep posting away.
Well Jim it's an impressions thread and i feel people should defitnetly speak up if they are seeing this issue. WHY? because maybe it can be fixed. If we pretend like all is good then were stuck with this bad situation. Also i never had any problems with 08 or the demo for 08. This is all new to me. I tried everything imaginable to fix the problem. It's still there. I believe it's safe to say that this is a problem that many people are experiencing and hopefully gets fixed. That's all i'm saying. If this problem is only in the demo then i'm cool with that. I just dont want to buy this game all excited to come home and see it playing like this.

Peace.
That is what we are all trying to figure out. As to why this is happening to some and not others.

The only conclusion I can come up with, because it is happening on so many different PS3 models, TV sets, TV types, etc, and not on the very same set ups to others ... is that some people are more sensitive to frame rate dips.

Other than that I am stumped.

Loving the demo. The lighting is so nice it's scary. In my first game I hit a fly ball into the RF corner and when the fielder was running back to the track to make the play, he went in and out of the shadows. For a few seconds the light was so bright on his face that I thought I was seeing the "ghost face" bug from '07 (told you it was scary). Luckily upon reviewing the replay it was just the intense lighting effect at that moment that made him appear ghostly (whew). Pitching and hitting do feel a bit different, but I didn't expect it to be exactly the same. I notice that I am swinging early on allot of pitches, which is not a problem I really had in previous years. I just chalk it up to the breaking pitches being more deceiving and me having to learn to adjust.

I can't really tell for sure if I'm seeing frame rate issues per say, but I did notice a bit of "choppiness" on a few occasions and it made me wonder about this. This was before coming here to OS to read everyone's impressions (I always play for myself before reading impressions). Then I came here and saw that some others were mentioning this too. What I noticed was rather mild and by no means game killing, as it appears some others are seeing it much worse than anything I experienced. Hopefully this will be a non issue once the game is released since the community reps didn't see this at the event last week, and the SCEA guys aren't seeing it.

Overall, I absolutely love the demo. In just 3 (shortened) games I already have seen numerous new fielding animations, cut scenes, and all kinds of new hit variety (I was giggling like a schoolgirl the the whole time). The hitting and pitching both seem a bit more challenging, which I think is a good thing. The commentary is stellar as usual and the game looks better than any sports game I've ever seen. Outstanding job by SCEA as usual. The baseball season just wouldn't be the same without this game, I don't know what I'd do without it (although I'll guarantee that my wife has a long list of suggestions).

Knight i tried everything. Even deleting and reinstalling the demo. Changed my hdmi2 port to PC. Game mode on. Everything you can think of. I want you to know that asside of this problem. The game is beautiful and plays great once you are fielding.

so much for impressions.

Can we move the framerate discussion to this thread...

http://www.operationsports.com/forum...ions-demo.html

They are bouncing ideas off each other as to what may be causing this.

I'm not saying that you can't see it Jim. I fully understand that some are seeing it and others aren't. But I'm getting quite annoyed by the elitist attitude that some people that don't see it have around here. Telling others to stop talking about it or don't worry about it doesn't cut it.

Personally I think all frame rate issues should be directed to the thread devoted to it as its cluttering up this thread. But if everyone respected the fact that this is an issue for a sizeable minority of us then it would probably settle down. Everytime I read someone say "I don't see it and it won't be a problem" I get annoyed the argument starts all over again.

I'm glad you don't see it in the demo or when you were in San Diego Jim. It probably means you won't see it at all in March. But there is a good chance I will see it imo. It's not the end of the world but I'm tired of hearing people basically telling me to be quiet or don't worry about it. It IS a concern for some of us.

Hmmm
I was hoping that there was some sort of memory clear like on a PC.
I'll fire it up in a little while and get the video out.
Maybe I'm just blinded by love! (they say it happens you know)

So if guys are seeing a difference when messing with a setting on their TV... can we rule out it is the demo doing this?

And perhaps move this part of the discussion to the thread in the forum dedicated to Choppy Animations and let others continue to discuss their impressions?

What I did, was switch the mode to game. There should be a button on the remote that comes with the TV that says E.MODE. You hit that until GAME comes up. This will actually call it ENTERTAINMENT.

I then renamed my HDMI2 input to PC.

I'm actually playing the game in 1080p with no lag, no stuttering, NOTHING!

The only drawback I'm seeing is that the screen is a little darker and I can't change it. But honestly, who cares.

YES!!! Now I see what others we're talking about!!

Thanks goes out to Jim and Guru.
Did you intially have some issues and this fixed the problem?

Here is the framerate thread link for those that haven't seen it yet. Let's try to move all that talk over there.

No, and here is the explnation for that.

I will try to not be so technical.

The game runs @ 60FPS in 720p

The game runs @ 30FPS in 1080p

If the framerate (FPS) dips from 60 down to 42 or so FPS in 720p, some with a trained eye will notice it big time.

The fix covered, forces the game to run in 1080p which is already lower than said (hypothetical for arguments sake) framerate dip. Thus may not suffer from a dip at all.

Thus making you think it is "fixed" but in reality, you are just seeing the game in 30FPS and not it's 60FPS glory.

This isn't an issue in the finished version of the game I'm sure the game its not perfect but frame rate issues are nonexistent.

Rudy...I understand what you are saying...but think of this.
First....most guys are not seeing it(a slight majority maybe )....
but add to that the fact that a few guys who said they DID see the problem....changed something and it resolved it.
That's telling me that it's more likely a tech problem(setup) and not something related directly to the demo.
At least I hope so.....but it seems likely that it's fixable.

Which is great to hear ... but in retrospect, do you know of an issue in the demo at all? That is what I think most are concerned about. The fact that if the devs don't see it in the demo either, then what they see right now, can translate over to the final build.

Absolutely. Just had to answer your thoughts in this thread ... lol!

The game just owns anyhow. I can not play '08 again after playing this demo (even though I have to in the league).

This is pure baseball gaming bliss, and just may turn out to be the best baseball game ever made.

I finally got it to work...
