Re: Basketball is NOT Hockey

As far as saying Canadians don't know basketball tell that to steve nash. White men can't jump either. Tell that to Woody Harrelson.

I think some of you are just scared you might not be that good. hehehe. No more spamming buttons and jacking up shots from all over the place. Oh boy. Actually have to play ball. I guess we will find out who the real crybabies are. You can't just simply dunk all day. Tis a shame for you guys.

God forbid you actually have to make a shot yourself, vs sitting there spamming buttons and watching a canned animation.

Well "Live" goes back in the African-American vernacular for some time now. Way back when in my young'in days everything was "Live" before it was "Fresh"or"Dope" or even "Bad"(well live and bad might have been around the same time). Lakeside even had a song All the way Live or something like that back in the early 80's or late 70's (I don't remember exactly , too many good times between then and now ) But it's funny because a few weeks ago I was thinking about how the name "Live" was getting a bit played out. Then I read this "Elite" thing. lol Now the thing that I don't understand is why the sudden shock of shooting on the right stick. Isn't there "another" game that has been doing that for years now?

Brother man czar I hear you but then I can't because you obviously have a little more info than the rest of us so it's hard to roll with you 100 percent seeing we don't have the inside you have. But I'm sure what you have is solid enough for you to feel that way. For myself I just have to wait and see. I was originally not going to give them a second look but the physics thing has me looking. Reason why I wasn't looking at them is because they crippled the Live 10 through ratings. Their recent ratings did more damage than any patch. It's what you don't see in Live 10 that's killing it.

As far as the hockey dude making the game I look at it like this. If he is a good GAME changer then more power to him. I mean I'm a computer guy, got a B.S. in Computer Science but I can make one helluva Shrimp Scampi. I don't have to be an Italian or a chef to make a great Shrimp Scampi.

Novell will be the first guy to tell you (which he will, over the next few months) that this is the most realistic feeling basketball game he has ever played. Pretty much everyone who has played it has agreed.
So quit worrying about the hockey guy lol

kgisyourfather whats up man. I don't think what your saying here applies to even 90 % of the users on OS. At least here in the basketball forums anyway. Majority of guys here just want to play good basketball. Thus the heavy sim focus of most of the users here. Actually most of the responses have been more abuut legitimate fears based on the history of the franchise. Yes some playful banter and many a tongue in cheek but I don't think this particular argument your making holds much water in this instance.

Actually it boils down to sim users on both sides differing on whether this new approach will yield a result that we all will enjoy. No one is saying they can't or it will be to hard for us to play. Well I'm not at least.

From reading this post it sounds like the game won't have any assigned player shooting ratings..........

Maybe i'm reading this wrong but if the shot soley depends on the USER skill wouldn't that mean if you are shooting with Omeka Okafor from outside you control his actual ability within the game to knock down jumpers?

again maybe i'm reading this wrong but i hope that isn't the direction EA is headed where the most influence on shots is decided by the Human player and not the actual ability if the CPU player based on percentage anymore

I hear you. You were jabbing, I was just jabbing back is all. OBviously we don't know until we play it, but from what I'm reading it sounds like EA is making changes that are necessary imo. This can be looked at one of two ways. If it wasn't for Mike Wang leaving, people might be heralding the fact the NHL team is over here working on this game. NHL is a really good game. Plus what I'm reading it sounds like they are attempting to make some of the changes i was clammoring about last year. I applaud them for that. The title also speaks to that. Self proclaimed true ballers aside. I know you guys are dedicated. I read these forums. No offense really. I understand. I'm just more saying it sounds ot me like Live is trying to get with the program here for the reasons I stated in that other post.

Yes in the past, EA regarding particually Live when they talk about change it doesn't mean they are going the right direction. But look at their other sports games and read what they are trying to change. This isn't 5 years ago. It sounds like there is a sim focus here and the title speaks to that. If you look at fifa and nhl and madden recently there is a sim focus and they are trying to revamp their gameplay. Isn't that what people have wanted?

These games in a way especially physics and AI and gameplay, have kind of hit their cycle and changes need to be made. Backbreaker was just released. It sucks in a lot of ways. I wouldn't buy it and I didn't. But it's the first title released that is going to start a change in the way we play games.
