Re: Bill's v3 Realism Sliders

Played two games with these so far.

Running is a bit to easy, but not that bad. Though at a clip of 6.3 ypc my rookie Beanie Wells is killing people. Though not DESTROYING them. I think after two games hes got 280 yards, 3 TD's.

Passing hasnt been easy, but I have Josh Freeman, another rookie.

The one thing that irks me is that I have Joe Thomas (97 OVR) as my LT and Jake Long as my RT and they give up the block to 84 and much less OVR ends EASILY. Joe Thomas has given up two sacks in two games already.

Defense wise I hold them well, there running game is there and does well after the 3rd and 4th quarter. Though really it seems all or nothing. I have a decent defense with two rookie LBs and three rookie DL in a 34, Mayo 2nd year guy in middle. D. Revis, Rodgers-Cromartie at corner with Landry and K. Phillips at safety.

I blitz almost every down so they can make some big plays in the passing game. I would have suspected by this second game I would have a few sacks but NONE. No coverage ones, no blitz ones, no user ones NOTHING.

Ive gotten pressure on the QB probably 5 or 6 times per game, and each time they either throw a nice pass going to the ground, or flub it out of there hands to hit the turf for a incompletion.

Sorry have Cushing, Woodley, Mayo and Malauegua(?) as my LBs. So at least one of them Woodley, has a good chance to get to the QB, but gets beat up every chance. I would think with the high speed and str 80+ both of Cushing he could also, but single blockers seem to hold him up for an eternity.

I was actually holding the Bears who had Brees at QB, T. Jones at RB to less then 100 yards in the first QTR of second game. Then the third quarter comes and T. Jones rips off a 83 run TD. Again my fault, called an all out blitz and was to the wrong side. T. Jones is fast.

But what killed me is D. Brees and Collie Austin (?) ripping me for 100+ yards offense in two plays. I understand I have a rookie corner on him, Malcom Jenkins, but he was at least 10 to 15 yards off him each play. No other time during the game. They came back and won the game with a field goal when they had only 55 seconds left and about 60 yards to go.

I guess these are good, but I dunno. Should I post full stats? Not sure if I can do that after I finish a game.

Gotta adjust human break tackle slider down if you are fully controlling the RB with the R-Stick.

This is a game problem not a slider problem. EA is going to 'try' and fix this a bit in the second patch I think. Sacks are just hard to come by. Try not blitzing as much and instead making sure that the TE or RB check downs are fully covered so the QB takes a coverage sack sometimes.

You can also manual dive at the QB if you really want to get a sack. It tends to keep him from going into the animation where he gets the ball off right before you get there.

Again a game problem. It has been shown that ratings don't mean much on the OLine. Punters can take on A. Haynesworth one on one right now.

Hope that helps a little.

Are you serious?!

Wow, and they left this in AND won't fix it in the first patch? We have to wait until who knows when for this to be fixed?

Unbelievable.

If one raises the interception slider, it seems like there are fewer INTs. I originally thought it was the other way around. There were too many INTs with the slider at zero.

Also, importantly, does anyone know how I change the sliders when already in Franchise mode? Or do I need to start a new Franchise game?

Thanks.
A couple of questions:
1. Do you control the running back?
2. How often do you use turbo (sprint)?

Using sprint a lot will require an adjustment to CPU defensive rush reaction (raise it), and if you're good with the truck move, you need to reduce human broken tackles as well (and maybe RB ability, too).

Sprinting is a real killer, because if you can get to the edge even a split-second sooner, it makes it so much easier to go for long runs on the outside. But if you're averaging 150+, you definitely need to make adjustments.

budsticky,
No. Guys are incredibly accurate in the NFL, and I originally had only tested in the center of the field. Kickers are quite a bit less accurate on the hashmarks, and when I found that out, I had to raise the slider significantly to get the accuracy somewhere near real NFL levels. I'm still seeing missed field goals, but not nearly as often.

If you think they're too accurate, though, 10 points is a good adjustment--you should definitely see a difference.

If you start making adjustments on the basis of one half or one game, you're going to wind up unhappy with what the adjustments do. I've played (literally) 50+ games and never had a guy go 20-22. And I usually play with the weaker team for testing purposes. I don't know of anyone else who has ever reported this.

So my guess (and it's just a guess) is that it's either a huge fluke or you're taking a huge amount of risk on defense. Sorry, those are the only ideas I have.

LOL--thanks for playing an entire half before you dismiss these.

Seriously, though, I can't make passing any tougher with the existing engine--I've already got CPU reaction at 100 (the best) and a very high setting for the pass rush. And quarterback accuracy is low. I can't make it harder without it feeling cheap.

If you're averaging 20 yards a pass, then you obviously know some things about the game that I don't. Try running Ask Madden plays for a half and see how it plays for you then.
