Re: Bill's v3 Realism Sliders

I have been using Bills sliders as well, I to tend to get a lot of big plays...BUT I yet to still verse the computer and see how good these sliders really are, I am usually always playing with my cousin so I shall see how the sliders work in my franchise coming and let you know!

I'm still seeing missed field goals, but not nearly as often.

If you think they're too accurate, though, 10 points is a good adjustment--you should definitely see a difference.
Agreed. I just wasn't seeing any misses. And the level of accuracy for long FG's seemed just as high as for mid-level. Admittedly I was working on a sample of about 7-8 games so maybe things would average out over time. Guys do miss and I just wasn't seeing it. I watched the TB Bucs yesterday and they missed 2 kicks. The guy Bironas from the Titans missed 2 as well..although if I'm remembering right one was blocked. Even tonight, Gostkowski missed one that he normally makes. I'd say most kickers are in the mid to high 80s with percentage. A couple dip into the 70s and a couple are in the mid-90s. So yeah, they are very accurate. I'm just seeing too much accuracy thus far. I'd like to see a guy blow a couple in a game. Anyway, this is all splitting hairs really.

Seriously, though, I can't make passing any tougher with the existing engine--I've already got CPU reaction at 100 (the best) and a very high setting for the pass rush. And quarterback accuracy is low. I can't make it harder without it feeling cheap.

If you're averaging 20 yards a pass, then you obviously know some things about the game that I don't. Try running Ask Madden plays for a half and see how it plays for you then.
I think we've got three issues here.

1. A lot of people who come on here and put up these gaudy numbers are straight up BSing.

2. Some people who put up big numbers may be using exploits such as rocket catches and whatever other exploits are out there. Or you may be abusing the flats which is a fault of the engine right now and no slider set will stop you from doing this. The ability of the human controlled player to take advantage of AI glitches is probably the main thing that drove me to coach mode. Yeah, I can just not do them..but what if I want to pass to a flat? It will make me feel like a cheat and I will get less enjoyment out of the game if I know I have to avoid doing certain things.

3. At least for running games, there are numerous posts on here complaining about the running game. In almost every case it seems they have not bothered to read the full description of how the sliders were derived and how they should be used for different types of players.

Re: Bill's v3 Realism Sliders

I just played a very good game with these sliders. I ran for about 150 with McFadden and 2 TD's, and Bush ran for 60-70 and a TD and i won 24-17, Raiders vs. Broncos.

With Russel though, I went 10-29 passing, for about a hundred yards. The issue is, DB's weren't making spectacular plays, Russell just literally threw everything away from the receivers. I watched the game last night, so I know Russell has a better arm then to throw a ball about 17 yards out of bounds on a 2 yard curl.

Game was 17 all when I picked off a Kyle Orton pass with Kirk Morrison and took it to the house. It was Morrison's second pick, and Thomas Howard also had one. Russel threw one.

Every pick except for Howards was off a floater by getting hit. I really think EA over did the floaters, because you can seen QB's getting hit hard many times throughout the game and their passes still atleast getting out to the receiver, not just lobbing it 25 yards in the air, and only 5 yards downfield.

I missed a FG, and so did they. I missed mine because I have a broken thumb, and kicking has been very hard on me. I think I would be a little better all around if I had a working thumb, because my reaction time is pretty slow right now.

Moreno ran for just over 100 yards. A few too many broken tackles, including one play where he ran a Lead, broke a LB's tackle, then got wrapped by 4 guys to only break out of it, and then ran out of Nnamdi Asomugha's tackle on the goalline. Also, i'm still seeing alot of suction blocking, like when a LB will come free, and for some reason will run into a lineman.

All in all though, good sliders, and maybe with a few tweaks can be close to perfect.

side note: Does anyone else hate how much the Chain gang comes out? I will have the first by about 3 yards and they will still come. Same with on the goalline.

Pardon any spelling mistakes, this thumb is taking it's toll.

Re: Bill's v3 Realism Sliders

Meh... decided to try these out for fun even though I detest "fast". And despite the fact that the score would say it wasn't at all an interesting game, it actually was, and I think I figured out that the anomaly when it comes to sacks just so happens to be a QB's awareness rating...

Anywho!

Me (Steelers) Vs. CPU (Ravens)
44-0

Total Offense Steelers
551 (371 Rushing, 180 Passing)

Total Offense Ravens
10 (16 Rushing, -6 Passing)

Passing
Ben Roethlisberger (108.7, 15/25, 180 Yards, 2 TDs, 0 INTs, 7.2 AVG)

Michael Vick (10.9, 7/29, 46 Yards, 0 TDs, 2 INTs, 1.5 AVG)
^^
My friend and I have fantasy teams, so this is his trade

Rushing (Yes, I know my fantasy trade is a purely ******* move )
Adrian Peterson (46 ATTs, 335 Yards, 7.2 AVG, 3 TDs) <
Ray Rice (13 ATTs, 16 Yards, 1.3 AVG, 0 TDs)

Defensive (Now this is what intrigued me, and why I think QB awareness has to do most with the lack of ability for the player's CPU to get sacks)
Steelers - 6 Sacks (Harrison x2, Clark x1, Keisel x1, Farrior x1, Casey Hampton x1)

Baltimore - 0 Sacks (No I don't think it's because the CPU needed boosting, remember the fact that I wasn't passing that often. The CPU had 2 near sacks, but I threw the ball away. My playstyle in general is worst case scenario for getting sacks Vs. me either way. My running/passing is almost always at least 50/50, usually leaning toward running, and even when I'm passing they're quick, short routes 90% of the time; barring a nano, I generally ain't gonna get sacked)

Mind you the only thing I really specifically play Vs. the CPU is defense... I almost always ask Madden on offense, and will actually pick no more than 5 plays myself. Only need 3 plays out of my defensive scheme to beat the cpu, so I run those 3 plays with vicious proficiency.

Also, I know someone might be saying the sack count was a total fluke, but that's not the first time I've had similar results playing the same team as well as others with low awareness QBs, usually getting anywhere from 3-5 sacks. In the other game I played (also Vs. the Ravens) I ended up with 5 sacks.

You also have a beast of you team you traded for, beating up on an obviously weaker team.

Look at the Pats 2 years ago against he cellar dwellers.

Re: Bill's v3 Realism Sliders

Weaker team? Hardly... Offensively perhaps, but obviously my offense was their defense's problem, and unless you're saying the Ravens have a weak defense, that's a pretty moot point... Not to mentioning considering my **** offensive line, I shouldn't be doing anything as well as I was able to.

Racked up a 54-13 game Vs. the Chargers, and 37-10 Vs. the Pats as well...

It's pretty hard in general for the CPU to stop me from scoring, period. I noticed that the CPU seems to play better in a rivalry situation, so I decided to go against the rival with the best defense that I could think of.

I've been trying different sliders just to see if I could get any challenge out of em, and to no avail. I know how to make the CPU able to shut me down, but that's not really the point... sliders on Madden unfortunately seem to produce a too easy or a too impossible result, and a happy medium seems to be near impossible...
