Absolutely loving the hitting in the last 2 patches. I was just a single short of hitting for the cycle in my RTTS. Some of these extra base hits would never have been possible in year's past. The new physics are really starting to shine now that the HRs are toned down.

I've had zero freezes so far after many games so just curious if there's a certain thing causing it for you.

Curious as to what is your style of play? Do you play using Player Lock or full team control. Full team control defense definitely plays different than Player Lock defense. Especiallly with the diving mechanic.
I have to turn the setting for one button dives to on which gives wierd results as R2 for dive no longer works.

I finally had a chance to play-test this in my LAD franchise. QC is definitely working better. I faced Erlin and he lasted a full 6, despite being down 2-0, and they only pulled him once I got 2 men on base in the 7th.
That would have never happened previously; he'd have been gone after the 4th.
Also, the batted-ball sound is much better now that it's back to normal.
I can't imagine what else they'd need to do to make this game better, at least from my perspective. It's amazing.

How do I get a video clip I saved from last night to where other folks can see it? I recorded a movie, it said it could be viewed in the home page, and I can't find it.

I too love the fielding in RTTS....with winning a gold glove a priority every year. I play in RF and have to hold R3 to keep from getting the cameras that switch halfway through the play. In a lot of cases I have to take side angles and dive behind shots down the line or to the left or right. Below is an example....it's a replay. You're absolutely correct though... my biggest problem is there are limited opportunities to make these plays although I've learned how to do it on the plays that present themselves.

i dont know about anyone else, but something is going on in my franchise now with this latest patch.
currently playing a game against the Rays and their defensive lineup has Kevin Keirmaier playing 3rd base. ummm this is like what the hell is going on type of moments. Also the gold glove icon under certain players who won them last season are showing up under the wrong players again(because this was the case in '16)

4 games(full games), CPU 6 and 1/3 innings pitched 70 pitches score 0-1; 5 innings 68 pitches score 0-0; 7 and 1/3 innings pitched 77 pitches score leading 2-0; 6 and 2/3 innings pitched 65 pitches again leading 3-0 all Managers Hook. Please SDS, find a balance I would love to see pitchers face some adversity and battle their way out of it, I would love to see "Quirks at Work" like WorkHorse, Fighter, Pressure Cooker, I wanna know if this stuff works as intended.

I played a QC game last night and didnt see many issues. I went up against Verlander. In the top of the 6th i was tied 2-2 and the first batter flied out, then i drew a walk. After the walk, Matty V said the Tigers now have a RH warming up in the pen. Next batter struck out then i singled and thought here we go, they are gonna take him out, but they left him in and I grounded out to end the inning. JV's pitch count at the time was 69. He ended up going 7 2/3 innings, 101 pitches, 2 runs, 3 walks, 5 hits. I drew a walk in the 7th with 2 outs and they brought in a reliever. Felt very realistic.
On a not so positive note, i noticed the ball in the dirt issue. Catcher just lobbed the ball to 2nd and the runner was safe by 3 miles. Really have not had an issue with that until this game.

This is so true what you say about player lock and playing defense. I think the camera view you are referring too is the default over head view like when you are playing full team control? While I love the 1st person view when playing on defense adding other viewing options would be nice. But then again that is adding options! Defense is a really bad user experience in Player Lock and RTTS.
I did not understand how RTTS is the games most popular mode. How does anyone play outfield in this game or other positions outside of SS which I happen to play. Then I went to youtube and realized that the majority of the user’s were either swinging for the fence or some pitching and not playing defense at all!
I have mentioned it before defensively from a player locked perspective if the game's player locked defense played like NBA 2k's freelance offense it would be so much more organic. Watching the play sequence come to a stop still makes playing defense in this mode feel scripted. Or watching the CPU outfielder ignoring you as a cut off man and throwing over your head or the ball going through you player like you don't exist on the field with the other players is frustrating.
There is no way to cover the bag or know if you are going to catch the ball if you are in the CPU’s line of sight. Since MLB 14 I have never been able to get a pick off while playing SS. However I did notice that at least in MLB 17 (patch 1.03) your player now actually get’s to the bag as opposed to previous iterations you would be pulled away from the bag or no where near the bag at all when calling for a pick off. But watch a CPU vs CPU game play defense and it looks like a dream.
You can have all the infinitely beautiful stadium details you can imagine but if what is going on inside those beautiful stadiums is not a reflection of your experience on the field. Then there is still a lot of room for improvement from this gameplay perspective. I am basing this on the last 4 years of play you are basing on playing since the inception and that speaks volumes going forward.
Also you might want to give this guy's sliders set a try Hashtagjorgie's Sliders 2017. I don't play the scripted defensive turns with Player Lock and for some reason with this Slider Set for some reason when I plug in his set. I get more ground balls hit to me naturally while playing short stop as opposed to the default sliders.
This may or may not be related to the patch but in a game last night as the Indians against the Tigers in franchise mode, I had 2 odd glitches with the fielding. I'm pitching late in the game, tied 2-2 with Kluber on the mound. I walked the lead off guy and the next guy hits a grounder up the middle but more to the Shortstop side. It seems like it might be playable so I am pushing to the right on the stick to give Lindor a shot at it. Apparently the CPU had determined this was getting through and had given me control of the center fielder who was not even in view yet. As the ball rolls into center field I see the CF has run himself out of position. Even though the ball wasn't hit that hard, I cannot change direction fast enough and it rolls to the wall. The batter gets a triple and the run scores. I thought this was odd as I never saw that in my 30-40 games prior to the patch.
But when it happened again 2-3 batters later but to right field and with the first baseman it causes me concern. The ball was hit on the ground just a little to the right of the first baseman. I push towards second to make the play but again, the CPU had given me control of the right fielder and I was accidentally pushing him away from the ball and it was able to roll past me to the wall allowing a 2nd triple on what should have been a single and in my mind possibly an out if could have controlled the infielder at all.
Is anyone else seeing this? Even if it was before the patch. Just seems odd it happened twice in one inning and I had never seen that before.
THanks,.

I never realized that Rick Porcello was from the 49th state of Alaska.

This is more related to 1.04, but it's nice to finally hit some doubles. Opposite field hits that used to carry unnaturally for home runs are now dropping as 2 baggers.

Played QC last night and it worked great. Only issue I have is wild pitches, it's tuned down post patches, but still too high. Probably seeing about 3-4 a game, pre-patch was about 6-7

Balls in the dirt.
I threw 4 in my last game vs the Cubs (an amazing 11 inning Yankees win btw that I streamed this morning)
Sanchez blocked/smothered every single one and the CPU never took off.
Great job SDS.
The game is playing fantastic.
Just hope we work out some OSD bugs.
Also had an AI lineup logic bug in a 1996 Marlins vs Braves game.
The Braves used their back up catcher to PH but then later in the game they had Andruw Jones PR for Javy Lopez in a 1 run game where they would have to take the field again (this was the top of the 8th)
Houston we have a problem.
They did not have a 3rd catcher so Jones ended up catching.
It was a disaster as he could not catch a cold.
Never saw this happen before.

What the OSD bugs your speaking of in Franchise mode?
The CPU PH the backup catcher is a big problem, Ive seen it a few times this yr, and every time I end up winning the game because it ends up costing the CPU the game. I cant imagine it would be that hard to code the CPU to not use the backup catcher, unless he is coming in to catch the rest of the game, but maybe it is. I know this happen some in years past, but I dont remember it ever being this bad.
Havent play enough games yet to know for sure, but this patch does seem to have improved the game.
Still needing to be fixed, You can read post #569. Thanks
