Does anyone notice that some games in Franchise Mode when you start it just goes straight to game action? No welcome presentation like usual and no pitcher scouting report before the game starts. I notice it happens like half of the games.
Possibly a dumb question...but does this patch automatically apply itself to my franchise, or do I have to start a new one?

Have not had a chance to play yet.
How's that very important bat sound?? Perfect again?

The patch will apply itself to your existing franchise.

Did they fix the catcher issue? This was my main concern right now. Anything in the dirt the CPU would advance and the catcher would lob the ball to the base.

Online is still basically unplayable. Runners still freezing, games still freeze and people are still pause glitching.

Anyone else seeing increased pitch speeds (not mph) just harder to pull 95 mph pitches. I was murdering. Same mode same difficulty now I'm not pulling it at all. Been on game mode on my TV

I just pulled two HR in one game in RTTS and my power is only 60. My guy is on a hot streak, but the hitting seems the same as 1.04 to me, which is good. Pre-1.04 was a different story though.

I had this bug before they patched SOTS. I cleared my MP3 files pre patch, then reloaded to only 480 files. It fixed the problem for me. I also restarted my franchise file that it was happening in.
Post patch 1.04 I went ahead and loaded up the 1000 slots and everything is working great and I have not seen that pre game presentation bug since I did what I described above.

I have not seen the CPU advance on any ball in the dirt. If the ball get's away decent enough they will take off.
I am not saying it is not an issue. But it is not nearly as bad as some are reporting.
And I will say this again. The catcher pop time and overall response is far better than that automatic cheetah reflex of the past.
It was an automatic out on foul pops, pops in front of the plate, and passed balls magically rebounding right back to catchers.
I can deal with a little animation quirk like this than go back to that awfulness from previous versions of the game.
At least now we have reasonable passed balls and wild pitches that should result in an extra base.
And when it happens when the CPU is pitching? I don't cheese it. If it is a ball right in front of the catcher I stay on the base.
If the CPU get's an extra base here and there.....I am living with it.
Do I want it fixed? Absolutely. But what I fear is over compensating and going right back to how it acted on MLB 16 which was for the birds.

Patch 1.05 is a success. Things I noticed right away were:
My game time in franchise and season mode playing full counts is now logged at over 100 hours so I have seen ton's of gameplay action across the entire league with various rosters (classic and current) etc etc.
1) The sound of the ball off the bat is now dynamic again and that beautiful sweet "Swat" sound when you groove a pitch is now back!!! When you hit a nubber or a weak grounds or fly ball.....you know. When you smoke a pitch you now hear it again. Thank you SDS for noticing this right away and fixing it.
2) Bunting is better. I was not having too many issues before. But I saw a noticeable difference from the previous update and out of the box. The ball does not rocket off the bat nearly at the clip it was before. But please remember. Bunting is dependent on various factors.
1) Player quirks
2) Bunt ratings
3) Type of pitch you bunt
Success is not guaranteed nor should it be. Most pitchers stink at bunting and hitting in general. So a sac by your pitcher should not be automatic. But at least the bunts are not flying off the bat at the level they were before.
Great bunters should see an uptick in bunt success as well.
The game still has some minor but noticeable OSD (On Screen Display) bugs in terms of divisional standings (wrong teams being displayed for said division) and also when they show a pitchers OSD and comment on how many walks they give up.....they are incorrectly being displayed as K's. Officially they are being scored as walks so not to worry. But the OSD is wrong.
Again......there is a minor issue with balls in the dirt and the catchers slower reaction to it. But I have not seen it as excessive as some reports. Also be mindful of situation, your pitchers stuff etc to avoid wild pitches. I don't cheese it either when the CPU has a dirt ball and it is very close to the catcher. I just sit tight. But if it is a true wild pitch/passed ball by all means take the base.
Everything always comes down to how you play and approach this game. Everyone has their own quirks, skill level etc.
Enjoy this game because IMO it is clearly the best Sports game every in the genre. Just simply amazing. The ball physics are truly mind blowing and the new fielding animations and humanity AI that goes with it......new level stuff. I can never go back to a previous version of this game with just those two new additions.
This is next gen console baseball.

Next game, series finale against Seattle in the rubber match. King Felix on the mound vs my #5 Tomlin and his 1-3 6.66era
I jump on Felix 6-0 on 6 hits, 3 walks and two homeruns (one grand slam by Naquin) in the first inning.
Anyways, he is NOT yanked! Comes back and gets first two outs easy, gives up 7th hit and 4th walk before getting out of the inning. Still in the game for the 3rd inning...this is QC on

If we want SDS to tone down the number of HRs in a game perhaps we need to ask MLB to tone down the number of HRs in their games. Of course not every game is as crazy as these two games over the weekend. But baseball can be a crazy sport at times.
