Made it out of the qualifiers, seemingly around the 33rd percentile or so of all who participated. The cut line was -8. Top score was, incredibly, -22.

Time to embarrass myself in the finals!

Stats are bumped up for this one, but equipment is still fixed.

Edit: -12 again. And this time it was a disappointment. So many missed putts and off-target shots due to sway. Winner's going to go better than -22 this time with the higher stat ceiling.

I just did mine. BLEH!

-12

With the way I played the front 9, let me tell you, I was happy with that final tally. I think I should have warmed up a bit more. Logged on, played my revenge match of the day, won it in 3 holes, and then jumped into the tourney. I couldn't hit Pi for crap. Came out of the front nine at 4 under because of a lucky bounce eagle on 3 and a couple birds. Managed to loosen up and hit Pi a little bit more consistently and birdie everything on the back except for 12.

Curious to see what the rewards are at the end of this.

I like the one round aspect of the tourney but they need to speed up the process. One tournament a week is gonna get a little stale quickly I'm afraid. Maybe do one a week that is rewarding cosmetics a other rewards but also to some tourneys that last two or three days that rewards gems and such.

Well I shot a -14, but I'm not proud of it.

I probably feel exactly like you guys. I'm trying to find a YouTube video of Stewie telling Brian, "Dude, that was paaaainful." My approach shots were atrocious. I had three water hazards. I miffed a putt by accidentally double-clicking my X button, and then missed a lot of other putts naturally. I didn't get a homing shot when the ball hit the flag that was right in front of the pole it would have hit.

I easily could have shot anything between -18 and -20. The pressure was just totally on during that.

I'm glad they are doing these, though!

EDIT: By the way, in these international tournaments my ultra spin isn't registering a lot for some reason. I could chalk it up to coincidence (or pressure), but for some reason my game thinks I'm hitting the D-pad after hitting X, so shots are going straight instead of doing what I want them to do. I mean I've probably played some 1500 holes before and I've never had these things happen like it did during the qualifying round (happened once in the championship round). Maybe it's just me and I'm trying too hard, and failing miserably.

Maybe they should do one a week for all of the courses.

Got around to doing my Finals Round.

One hole killed me again! On Hole 3 I barely missed PI but then on my contact she missed it way left, so my ball ended up rolling into the lake. It looked like it would have rolled up next to the hole really nice too... Had 3 chip ins that helped my round too. Can't really complain about -18 but once again I am left thinking "what if"

Spoiler

I really need to find time to play this game again.

Shot a -14 in the finals.

Missed 2 eagle putts, but other than that, I dont think I couldve done any better than a -16. I have no clue how somebody got a -22.

I've had that happen a couple times too... I think I just miss the timing (especially when I am trying too hard!) I'll have to pay attention though because it's only happened a few times recently for me too.

Yeah, what I think it is is that I played these on my TV instead of on my Vita, since I didn't want to risk any weird connection issues. The PS4 controller obviously has a bigger D-pad, if not possibly some pressure sensitivity (I'd have to push down "more" for it to register), and that slight bit is making me miss the mark, like I have to press it a hair earlier. It happened more and more the other day for me. Never happens on my Vita.

Have they patched this game to where it has at least some of the Advanced Swing options that Hot Shots Golf OOB and World Invitational?

Not that I can see and a few of the ball in fight camera options would be nice.

Yeah, that and a real time Advanced Swing that required me to watch the golfer rather than a meter would get me back into playing this game again. Thanks for the reply!

The only thing i would change about this game is maybe make chip ins harder, and alot more courses.

My biggest gripe is "gem farming" needed to upgrade custom clubs. I honestly think the game would've been better without the concept of custom/upgraded club. At least wouldn't have had to see bunch of Albatrosses and Condors if that was the case.

Is it truly better to gem for custom clubs I just recent got it and played with it but that’s too much work running around for gems!

Maybe on the custom clubs cause what is the max yards you can get. I got the red club up to 322? Anybody got higher than that if so what did you do?

I may be the only person who doesn't mind it in that it makes the game's longevity last for me a bit more (in that I still have a "goal" to achieve for that). I probably play more regular SP than the open courses anyway though, so I probably don't gem hunt as much as ya'll.

However, I still don't know and am now speculating otherwise, but I used to think that coins, items, gems and tokens were earned for shooting well on an 18-hole open course or something. Do you get the same gems no matter how you shoot, or if you even play the holes at all?

I dont even bother with the custom clubs or gems. whatever that is.
I just like playing the courses and tournaments over and over again. I just think its a great game, and when you play its different and fun every time.

You have to actively hunt for the gems on open golf courses and don't get them by completing the rounds. If that was the case I wouldn't mind. They really should've had a system to upgrade the clubs using coins as you get coins as part of regular golfing gameplay.

Yeah, I would take that.

Anyway, I never just roam around a course to collect coins/gems. I will play the nine holes, and when they pop up I'll collect them, then resume my nine holes. Maybe that's why I don't feel as bad about doing it, but then again I thought I was earning them by playing holes as well.

Fishing on the other hand feels a bit tedious, but I like trying to complete the lists as well.

Is there another International Tournament up this week, by the way? I haven't logged in since Sunday, when I don't think one was available. If I don't hurry I might miss the qualifying round.
