Has there been any word from Clap Hanz about an update that would bring Advanced Swings, like we had in HGG WI and HSG OOB, back to the game? I quit playing this game after two weeks because I'm not a fan of the horizontal, non real time 3-click meter it uses.

So club and ball restrictions can be in place for tournaments. Very good.

Also of note, looks like we'll be able to move from open course to open course without returning to the home area. Will save a lot of time collecting gems.
Gem farming is the reason I gave up on the game. I can't be bothered spending more than an hour everyday simply trying to collect gems. The custom clubs should not have been such an integral part of the game and there should've been a better way to upgrade clubs instead of gems & gem farming.

Honestly, as much as I have been waiting for more DLC Courses and that Tournament mode this might be the biggest thing to me. I love the game but it needed a LOT of 'QOL' fixes and this was the biggest one.

I haven't looked up any info on the Courses so it will be pretty exciting playing them for the first time. I will record a full round on them like I did for Green CC and Balata CC for anyone who wants to preview them.

Finally starting to understand the custom clubs thing. Fully upgraded one club set with nothing but power, then went and saw the other guy and added one last bit of power. I thought I was able to continue upgrading with each category (control, spin, backdoor included) but I guess you can only get 10+1 total for all categories, go figure. I think I got to a total of Level 22 for power, shooting 368 yards total.

I guess if I play enough, I'll make custom clubs maxing out each set. Not sure if it's really worth maxing out backdoor, but what the hell.

Still haven't had to repair clubs, though I think I've shot more than 180 holes with this set (someone mentioned that was the limit).

EDIT: And just as I say that, my clubs finally need repair. Ah well, good to know I get a notification for it and such.

There's a patch out, and it's probably that tournament addition one.

It's big too, almost 4 gigs.

Can't wait to try it later! New course and perks to Turf War added as well.

Right now the national tournament is still offline. It shows the name above the middle gate but you can't enter it.

Not sure what they are waiting for to open it.

Breaking down and upgrading to the 4 Slim this week. This game is on the list used at Redbox why not? I've only seen gameplay on youtube so it is tough to tell how good it really looks. I have all the games they made for the PS1-PS3 and was wondering how the graphics compare to the latest two games they made.

Looks like the game now keeps track of how many Birdies, Eagles, etc. you have accumulated. After getting an Eagle today it showed "361 Eagles" in the top right corner. Pretty neat little addition.

I'd say there is a slight upgrade to the graphics but a major upgrade to the lighting. During certain times of day the game looks completely different it's quite amazing.

I think I heard the game is 50% off on the PSN Store and $10 at Redbox too. Great price for the game. If you enjoyed the other Hot Shots games you'll like this one too, the only drawback is that it only uses the 3-Click Swing type and there's no option to use the others.

Everybody's Golf (new Hot Shots Golf game) is $9 at Redbox.com!

Haven't played this game in a while. I'll have to check this game out over the next few days.

I'm a digital guy and have never used Redbox before, but I couldn't pass up $10 for this game. I also snatched up Doom and Dark Souls 3 for around $22 total. I can dig it.

This game is so much fun to play. That's an area where most games in this genre have a hard time. That being said, it still plays a solid game of golf despite not taking itself too seriously. I haven't hopped online with it yet, but I'm glad I picked it up.

Looks like the Online Tournaments wasn't opened today but the new Course was added to the Playstation Store. $6.49. Pretty steep but I will give it a go tomorrow.

Hot dang! Three great games for a pretty low price! Nice.

I got the new course and played a round on the Championship tees. Shot +4.

The standout feature for this course is definitely its water. Most (but not all) of the ponds around the fairways and green are playable hazards - you can hit out of them without penalty. It's far worse for distance potential than trying to hit out of a sand trap, though. I'd say the greens are about average in slope severity. The course rates on the select screen as a 6/10 difficulty on Championship tees with normal cups. It's definitely a step up in difficulty from the other DLC courses, Green and Balata.

It's a fun course, but whether it's worth the price will depend on how much you enjoy the game.

So what do you get with the game? 8 courses that you can unlock that come with the game that you don't have to buy? How many DLC courses above and beyond that have they released?

I'm saying this off the top of my head, so sorry if any of this is misinformation or names are wrong:

The game starts out with one course (Eagle City) and four courses which you unlock through progression over time (Alpine Forest, Kanola Beach, Vortex Valley, Imperial Gardens). I do not believe you can pay to unlock these ones in advance. Most of them are unlocked when you go up a rank. I think Imperial Gardens or something doesn't come until Rank 6, though (meaning once you are on Rank 5, no course actually unlocks from Rank 4 and you are still on Vortex Valley... I may be wrong on that).

Prior to the previous update, there were two courses that you could pay to unlock as DLC (Green and Balata, $2.99 each I think), and cannot be unlocked through the game's progression system. They are courses from previous Hot Shots Golf games. I believe Green is the opening course of the first ever HSG, because I played a PSX demo disc relentlessly and that course looks very familiar as that one. These two courses are very basic, novice, entry level courses like Eagle City, except probably even easier. If you play Turf War enough, the game will sometimes randomly choose either of these two courses for you to play on (truth be told, it seems like I actually get these two courses more than any of the other ones), so you can kind of play them as a "trial" if you're unsure whether you want to buy them or not. Of course, you can also probably watch videos online and decide for yourself that way. I have not bought them, and likely will not unless I require them for the platinum trophy.

I know nothing about the new DLC course except that it is a brand new course made by Clap Hanz, it is likely on a more difficult level (read bcruise's impressions on it), and it is more expensive. I am unsure whether it will pop up in Turf War so you can preview it before you actually pay for it. I'll likely just buy it regardless so I don't give myself second thoughts about not buying it, because I'd like to support the possibility that they will make more courses hereon out, like how the Zen Pinball company is still making and releasing pinball tables since 2009.

At Home, there are three gates where you can play some sort of online deals: prior to this update, you could either play some 9-hole golf on your own pace (you can also play individual holes, go fishing, or collect little coins, gems, tokens, items) or play Turf War. The middle gate wasn't anything yet, until now they have released the National Tournament, which I have yet to learn anything about or venture into. They always had a plan for that gate though it seems, so it makes me wonder how complete the game was when it first came out. I bet they wanted to have this in the game from the get-go, but were unable to do so in time. Glad they didn't charge us for that! The course, on the other hand, was probably not on the original docket for us, which is why they are charging (plus because they can lol).

All good info as far as I can see Blzer. A couple tiny tidbits from me is all I've got to add.

Another way to try the DLC courses is to find a friend that has them. They can set up an online match on those courses and you can play with them on the courses you haven't bought. Oh, and as far as I'm aware, no DLC has never been required to platinum any playstation game ever. Sometimes they make it easier, but never required.

I didn't know until I stumbled upon it. When on an open course, randomly at the top of the hour, the course will turn to a "Lucky Chance". You can still play leisurely at your pace but a 20 minute countdown will start and allow you to finish as many 9 hole rounds as you can. At the end of each round awards are given. Only thing I've got is monthly cosmetic items though so it's kinda meh.

Wait a minute, I thought this game didn't have any friend invitation stuff? Or maybe I'm just thinking about Turf War.

For shame, because I just told my friend who got the game that we couldn't play online together. Now I'll find a way to do so with him.

Yup, very cool feature. I did not know it was at the top of the hour, though. I used to think that as long as I started the round within that time frame, all would be good. Turns out of course you have to finish in that time. I now often am able to finish twice without any issue.

I have received 4 or 5 gems (I forget which) on Lucky Chance finishes, actually. I'm glad that I can now receive gems while fishing, too.

They have a backwards invite system in place. One person has to make the online room and then the others have to search for friends room to join it.

I was starting the ninth hole of the bonus course one day when the lucky chance popped up. I finished the round, got rewarded for lucky chance and it was still open. I was able to burn through 2 more rounds taking shots really quickly and not caring for my score.

Right now I'm getting most of my gems trying to fill out my gallery. Though being able to jump from open course directly to open course now saves a ton of time. It's just still really boring.

Got it. Don't let know how to create or search, but I'll check again when I'm back home from vacation on Sunday night.

What do you mean it's really boring? Gem-hunting? I like playing for leaderboards and such as well still, though I'll never be as good as the rest haha.

I still have to fill out my gallery in the lower ranks, but I don't think I get gems for doing so unfortunately.
