Madden NFL 17 News Post


Madden NFL 17 title update #10 is available now for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Check out the patch notes below.

Gameplay
  • Removed the ability to flick the R-Stick to pump fake when the player is outside of the pocket. Right Stick will now always throw ball away in these situations.
  • Fixed a legacy issue where defensive linemen would be called for encroachment when offense was using no huddle.
  • Addressed an issue where receivers would have the ball bounce off their arms when attempting RAC catches leading to drops or tip picks.
  • Fixed issue where QB’s could not match tackles after throwing an interception.
  • Fixed an issue where the user drop down banner was precluding player stat drop downs
  • Removed user drop down banners for user catch, finesse and power moves due to high frequency being distracting.
  • Fixed a bug where a safety banner would fire every time a pass was intercepted in the end zone.
  • Fixed a grieving tactic where offense could trigger infinite offsides penalties to extend the game.
  • Made some zone coverage adjustments to improve an issue where C Routes were overpowered when run on the wide side of the field with a TE on the line of scrimmage.
  • Increased frequency of broken tackles that can trigger from hit sticks. This will add more risk to going for hit stick tackles.
  • Fixed CPU punters kicking high into the wind, causing short punts.
  • Fixed a short delay that could rarely occur when attempting to snap the ball.
  • Fixed a variety of ‘players freezing’ issues when coming out of blocking interactions.
  • Tuned up fumble chances on ‘precision dive over top’ and increased the Tier requirements to perform the elite version of this mechanic.
  • Fixed an issue where free offensive linemen would not react to a nearby defender who just beat a block.
  • A variety of pass block targeting issues resolved.
  • Fixed several encroachment bugs that would result from aligning and sliding the defense in pre-play.
  • Addressed a rare issue where defenders could get into a state where they could not be blocked.
  • Fixed an issue where turning the pass accuracy slider to 0 would have very little impact in game.
  • Fixed a turbo blitz off the edge that was specific to players in a 4 point stance.
  • Addressed an issue where a DB in press coverage would not be able to defend a player locked user WR hot routed to a smoke screen
Stability
  • Tuned a variety of issues related to community feedback that lower rated offensive line was too effective against an elite defensive line. This change will also make elite OL more effective against lower rated D-line.
  • Addressed feedback that various online modes played at different game speeds. All online game speeds now consolidated to run at normal game speed.
  • Addressed an issue where a user in an online game could disconnect/concede and result in a crash for the opponent.
  • Addressed an issue where a timeout call on the pause menu could lead to camera settings being switched. This was also used as a grieving tactic to reset opponents camera.
  • Fixed an issue where user settings would be reset to defaults in a play a friend game. This includes the auto flip setting defaulting to on.
Franchise
  • Fixed CFM issue where user would receive an Invite Error Popup when trying to invite another user to a Franchise game.

That's your AWR there. PDK is just how long they hold the block, not picking up the block.


Consider (using imagination) you have a player with tonnes of upside but inexperienced. He took too big an outstep and the wiley veteran cut inside :P

I don't even see why you'd have to use your imagination to see/accept that; that is what awareness (low) is supposed to do, no?

Sometimes it's just hard to accept outcomes that are out of the ordinary and that one cannot control, but that's simply how videogames (and life) are. I'd actually call the video above a very SIM play

this happened to me one time in the game.. i dont mind it if its taking into account the low att of maybe awr or whatever, but as long as it dont happen to much, how are u getting your vids to post like that, mine when i try all different things i can only get the blue link showing, not like u have it, where u getting the iframe width height all that stuff from, cause when u click on quote, on your comment with the video it shows all that, but anyways. Ya that happened to me

He looks around , sees no one to block and instead of standing there chopping his feet like he would have before patch.He runs to help the LT out. So unless you have bad oline, i think you can for the most part say goodbye to the stud 3 man rush that would sack you in 1-1.5 seconds!

Good stuff. In video two, are you controlling the qb or ai? I ask because he had a nice pocket and rolled out to defeat his own double team on the re.

yeah sadly that was all me, i got nervous,mainly because before i would have been pressured by that point so i just rolled out mainly due to habit of dealing with guys all over me in no time.

it does look and feel even better than ootb. I'm really impressed with the D-Line and how a good pass rush does matter and Oline vs Dline seems to be it's best yet! These ratings actually matter now.
Just on this alone I'm already sold but it's much better than just that. Its a culmination of things that have really sold me on this version over OOTB.
I could go on about all the improvements, just to shorten this up, it's the "Core" gameplay that is improved.
What's that?
Passing
Running
Catching
Tackling
Coverage
Oline vs Dline ratings and moves are even better
Special Teams
So yeah, that's the core


Still, one game in, so take it for what it's worth.
Also, I'm not saying that NO slider changes are needed, I'm sure some adjustments will be needed. Mainly QB acc user and possibly cpu run block. Also to get a good variety of Penalties, these also need some small tweaks.
It's great to see this post from someone who has been much more critical and disappointed with the game than I have been. I feel the same way about all those core gameplay elements being improved, but when you've been strongly supportive of a game many people who haven't been as fond of it don't necessarily believe you when say that the game has been made much better.

This game sucks now with the new patch for the hardcore gamers it's slow and easy 2k come back somebody besides EA you guys are trash

I had this happen w/ my Center and Guard just whiffing and the DT came in untouched,
hopefully its ratings saying these guys are not quite consistent and aware enough to make every block.
We need to watch this closely to be sure High rated Olineman don't have this issue.

i believe as a few others have posted video showing LT just not doing anything , as some has said they saw the same, is we see how often things like that happen vs things like what i have posted happen . That is a real mark of how much things have improved.

No one has been more critical towards EA than I have. Not making excuses but it is because with my health issues and age. I can't play real sports any more. I love FB, Baseball, and golf. I realize that this is just a video game but like a child, I live out my fantasies. I make myself and my friends young again and just want to play a somewhat realistic FB game. As critical as I have been, I will applaud EA for this last patch. It is supposed to fix many issues that I was not even aware of. It seems too many that it is a pretty good patch and I am happy for everyone that benefits from it.

Although I applaud EA for this patch and there effort, I also think this patch took way too long to get here. I am sure they must have their reasons, But FB season is over. I didn't believe there would even be a patch and pretty much lost faith and interest. I truly thought the next patch would be Madden 18.. I WAS WRONG.

Anyone that knows me knows that I never play on line and only FRANCHISE and Play of the moment. My biggest issue was Punting and QB scrambling and acc. I thought the rest of the game was pretty good, I learned to sim my punts against the wind after reading roadman postings, although I disagreed with him at first. It turned out to be the best solution. Thanks roadman and everyone else that takes the time to test advise and help others to enjoy the game.

So seeing that the punting issue was supposed to be fixed. I was excited to play the game again. Last night I played my first game with my Browns against the Jags for a test. The wind was 10 mph blowing as I believe straight north. Not sideways. When the Jags punted against the wind, it seemed to be ok, although every punt was aimed for the sidelines and went out of bounds. I let the CPU do the punting for my Browns, My first punt against the wind was a sky high punt for about 15 yds. Basically just like the OOTB version of the game. To make a long story short. 5 of 6 of my punts against the wind were sky high and less than 20 yds. When I punted myself, It never went more than a 40 yds. This is based on one game but the disappointment was huge. I am truly hoping that this was somehow just a fluke, but wondering if anyone else that plays POTM has experienced this. I am going to try again today and if this continues, It’s back to simming which I absolutely hate, or just give up on the game until next year.

For the rest of you, I hope the patch makes the game better for your enjoyment. It hasn’t for me so far.

I have a question..when u say "hardcore gamers" who do u mean?
I'm sorry u dislike the latest patch..however I for one was sad with the game after patch 2..and was dealing with it till now (i.e. Most of the football season)..and find what EA has done with this patch/update, is correct some serious "true football" related issues within the game.

I do like the issues they have addressed this late into the game cycle. I'm just curious if anyone is getting higher scoring and more yds/gm now?

Granted, I have not adjusted my sliders or penalties since before the patch. I will go back to default everything and then test.

Players are still getting frozen stuck during plays and 2 people last night quit the game through the dashboard and froze me out so I would not get a win.

Also there are tons of drops and all the time now in ranked. Top receivers drop almost every damn pass in traffic.

I think it was Madden 25 or Madden 15 where route timing really mattered. You had the most success if you timed your throws to the drop back. This new patch feels a lot like that. Especially with pressure coming a lot faster. I also love that checkdowns are a viable option again through necessity since pressure can be in your face pretty quick.
