Madden NFL 17 News Post


Madden NFL 17 title update #10 is available now for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Check out the patch notes below.

Gameplay
  • Removed the ability to flick the R-Stick to pump fake when the player is outside of the pocket. Right Stick will now always throw ball away in these situations.
  • Fixed a legacy issue where defensive linemen would be called for encroachment when offense was using no huddle.
  • Addressed an issue where receivers would have the ball bounce off their arms when attempting RAC catches leading to drops or tip picks.
  • Fixed issue where QB’s could not match tackles after throwing an interception.
  • Fixed an issue where the user drop down banner was precluding player stat drop downs
  • Removed user drop down banners for user catch, finesse and power moves due to high frequency being distracting.
  • Fixed a bug where a safety banner would fire every time a pass was intercepted in the end zone.
  • Fixed a grieving tactic where offense could trigger infinite offsides penalties to extend the game.
  • Made some zone coverage adjustments to improve an issue where C Routes were overpowered when run on the wide side of the field with a TE on the line of scrimmage.
  • Increased frequency of broken tackles that can trigger from hit sticks. This will add more risk to going for hit stick tackles.
  • Fixed CPU punters kicking high into the wind, causing short punts.
  • Fixed a short delay that could rarely occur when attempting to snap the ball.
  • Fixed a variety of ‘players freezing’ issues when coming out of blocking interactions.
  • Tuned up fumble chances on ‘precision dive over top’ and increased the Tier requirements to perform the elite version of this mechanic.
  • Fixed an issue where free offensive linemen would not react to a nearby defender who just beat a block.
  • A variety of pass block targeting issues resolved.
  • Fixed several encroachment bugs that would result from aligning and sliding the defense in pre-play.
  • Addressed a rare issue where defenders could get into a state where they could not be blocked.
  • Fixed an issue where turning the pass accuracy slider to 0 would have very little impact in game.
  • Fixed a turbo blitz off the edge that was specific to players in a 4 point stance.
  • Addressed an issue where a DB in press coverage would not be able to defend a player locked user WR hot routed to a smoke screen
Stability
  • Tuned a variety of issues related to community feedback that lower rated offensive line was too effective against an elite defensive line. This change will also make elite OL more effective against lower rated D-line.
  • Addressed feedback that various online modes played at different game speeds. All online game speeds now consolidated to run at normal game speed.
  • Addressed an issue where a user in an online game could disconnect/concede and result in a crash for the opponent.
  • Addressed an issue where a timeout call on the pause menu could lead to camera settings being switched. This was also used as a grieving tactic to reset opponents camera.
  • Fixed an issue where user settings would be reset to defaults in a play a friend game. This includes the auto flip setting defaulting to on.
Franchise
  • Fixed CFM issue where user would receive an Invite Error Popup when trying to invite another user to a Franchise game.

All-Pro with all sliders at 50 except QB Acc. at 40 is really challenging (I'm using Flazko's auto-subs & penalties).

I beat the Raiders with the Titans (Game 3) 17-13. Both QB finished the game with 58% of completion : missed throws, deflected passes, throw away and drops happened during the game. D. Murray & L. Murray ran both over 100 yards and both team passing was very hard (below 200 yds).

The Raiders could have won but D.Carr fumbled the ball with 4:44 left (I was winning 14-13) which has been recovered by my defense to lead to a FG, a few minutes later.

Oh, and the CPU punted against a 11 MPH wind into my endzone since their 45 yds.

For once, great job EA !

So I've read through 22 pages and haven't really seen a full description of what the RAC catching issue was to begin with. I'm 5 seasons deep in an offline CFM and havent noticed any issues from RAC catches other than running out of bounds when catching near the sideline

EDIT: I play on slow, which is maybe the reason why i wasnt seeing the drop issues (thanks howboutdat for clarifying what the issue was)

The issue before was there was just way too many drops of wide open passes, when using RAC catching.

This post is for the admins. Since Rex wanted peoples feedback on this update.I was curious if maybe next week , after people have had more time with it, if a thread for Update Impressions might be posted so there could be 1 uniformed place for everyones input here, and someone could send Rex a link to it ?Just a thought.

Also , if he was being hit about time ball got there or within a second after, RAC catch shouldnt be used from my understanding but possession catch should be used there. Again just curious maybe you miss typed it and meant he had 90 catch.

Also , sometimes even good wrs are gonna drop a pass, especially when being hit.Just ask OBJ about that in playoffs, Dropped a few passes, not being hit should have caught.The issue was any wr would drop alot of balls wide open before, hopefully thats not the case now.In the game i played , i saw a few drops but most where while being contacted about time ball got there or just after.Kinda how you would expect it.Only person i saw with an open drop in my game was a hb, which i can kinda understand too.
It was wide open, his catch is 90 as well so it really doesn't make much of a difference. As for everyone dropping wide open catches, I agree thats why I said we need more data, but it was one of those weird ones where it just kind of hits them.

Don't get me wrong, I hope it's fixed, but we though it was supposed to be fixed before. We just need more data to vet it out.

Yeah , i thought you prob meant both were 90, but if cit was 90 and catch was 76 .... well id understand totally why it happened.

And i agree, we need to give it two weeks i feel like to really get a good feel of what it plays out as overall.Still seeing a random drop here in there , to me is realistic.Seeing it alot , especially from guys with high catching , then that is not realistic and would still be an issue. I just dont want people bombarding Rex two days after patch crying about speed instead of trying to adjust to it. Many people who joined our league over the years, at first didnt like that we played on slow speed, until they played it about a week or two, then they told us , they loved it and couldnt play online h2h anymore because that speed felt too arcade like.


I just hope people give it that long before crying about the speed.I also noticed Rex said the speed thing not only fixed RAC drops but about 8-10 other issues as well. So to me, that would mean people want 1 thing more than 9-11 things fixed..... dont make good sense to me personally. I would like to see the other things , what exactly they were in that number of other things it fixed though.

audio/video desync for halftime in Offline Franchise mode, game shows the players walking off the field for Halftime, but the commentary is talking about the highlights. This didn't happen before the patch, and I know it is not the disc, since the bottom of the disc is perfectly clean with no scratches or fingerprints. I already tweeted this to the Madden team on Twitter.

Free practice was fine last night for me. Seems to be isolated just to CFM weekly drills.

Looks like they actually fixed the QB accuracy slider at 7 on all Madden I was seeing some errant throws and about 55% completion for the AI. Human is subjective based on alot of factors but I was 66% with it at 7.

Too bad they couldn't give the kicking slider the same attention. After playing for a few months without the patch, the kicking is ridiculously easy.

I did not see a non-qb fumble in the few games I played, so I will have to play a few more, but hopefully we can see fumbles at a reasonable rate of about 2 to 3 non-QB fumbles per game.

that would explain why i dont see it. I did a few of them early in year, got gold, now i just sim them to save time.

Hi everyone.

This is my first post here so go easy on me.

I really enjoy playing Madden but I've noticed I've had issues with the CFM... I enjoy playing the Rams and I'll notice my quarterback Jared Goff will earn 3-4K in XP but when I try to spend it, not all of it is available... so many of my players end up losing their XP.

Let's say I do a practice and earn 1000XP (and not spend the XP from that) and play a game and earn 3,500... I've seen cases where the 1000 will disappear and I'll only earn 3,500 OR I'll have some odd amount like 2000.

Anyone have suggestions on how to fix this? I have a PS4 Console.

CFM isn't fun if you can't develop your players.

Rex generally goes through this thread for impressions of each patch.

Make sure auto progress is turned off in settings

Three games in I really like the OL/DL changes. The QB accuracy is also evident and I like that also.

Hey mate, I had the same question a while back, and eventully realized the XP screen you see after the game is actually how much XP a player has gained to that point over the entire week, including your weekly training. A bit misleading at first, but it can be interesting to see a complete picture of a player's total progress for that week. To see how much XP was gained during the game, you can check the progression history. I'm not sure if it includes other sources of XP gained previously in the week like for winning player of the week, but i know the numbers you see after the game at least includes training + game XP

Really well done patch. Sad that default fatigue wasn't fixed but I can live that.

Really solid effort by EA here!!

So when we used to play Tecmo Bowl and run up the score with Bo Jackson that was fake too........


IF you have the "Stick" Skills to juke someone or any move to avoid a tackle and the developer comes and purposes balances the game, that in my opinion is not a benefit.......

If my Running Back from the Dolphins in REAL NFL rush for multiple 200 yard games in a season and not you can't even rush for 50 yards in one game you tell me what's realistic........

The running game has been handicapped and when playing online ranked mode you cannot adjust the speed, so your offense is basically handicapped.


One of the few games I played online every other day with about a 58% win average, but truly truly disappointed with this patch as it has changed the game I basically played everyday since release............

Watching Armor & Swords' stream and Russell Wilson is definitely less than perfect at CPU Acc 20. I've counted 3 off-target passes in the first half.

He's in CFM, and it's reflecting the same kind of results I got in Play Now.

Also CPU Thomas Rawls is running all over his Miami defense.
